  1. The situation is even worse for a new owner. The percent or the purchase price to be financed will be closer to 80%. In addition, the new owner will have to repay the principal of that note out of cash flow, although those payments won;t show up in the P&L. On a 40 year note, that is $140 mil per year on top of the interest payments. Further complicating things, is that a new stadium will state of the art luxury boxes won;t help because the area's economy can't buy the boxes. Without additional cash from revenue sharing, there is no way a new owner can keep the team in Buffalo.
  2. LB is the most likely option. Spikes is a shell of his former self and Fletcher is too close to hitting the wall to justify a big contract. Top DTs will be gone and OG will be available in 2nd round.
  3. they would have 0 sacks because no one would ever pass the ball- just check out that Indy run D
  4. not likely. The Bills can not hel;p but sign more free agents than they lose (including Clements)- thus the net gain of free agents will result in no compensation.
  5. I am still looking for those "good points' you referenced in the title
  6. check out the Drew Bledsoe blog http://www.tonyhomo.com/
  7. it's not about the total carries. It's about when he decides to run. Like the Ronnie Brown hand off spin arouhd option pass on teh 2 pt conversion agasinst Houston that will keep the Dulelons out of the playoffs. or last week with 5 shots inside the 2 - he fails to even think about running the ball or running an option or draw with his mobile QB. or any number of short yardage situations last year with the Bill.
  8. you seriously need to get your head out of your $ss. Without a comprehensive revenue sharing plan, NOBODY who buys the Bills can afford to keep them in Buffalo and compete for the best players. The Bills do not have multiple sources of revenue like luxury boxes and TV deals that are availabe to large market clubs. There is not a large enough corporate presence to buy the luxury boxes needed to compete. On top of the current operating expenses, any new buyer will also have to allocate cash to cover the debt service on the $500 + million debt needed to buy the team. The Bills will have even less cash to fund signing bonuses for free agents.
  9. it sure helped that Mullarkey was too stupid to not run the ball on the last 2 plays.
  10. The problem is compounded when a buyer takes over the Bills with debt service on $300 million. The $7 mil profit quickly turns into a $17 mil loss without factoring into the cash drain of big signing bonuses. With a weak economy and no major corporate headquasters in town, there is no base to buy luxury boxes even if the NFl kicked in to build a state of the aret stadium. Can't see how the Bills will be able to remianin Buffalo after Ralph is out of the picture unless major changes are made to the revenue sharing arrangement.
  11. The Wade Phillips system is doing fine. Ted Cottrell not so much.
  12. don't forget his masterful handling of Dante Culpepper. Another fine job of managing his team's QB situation.
  13. This is the 5th year, so we can finally replace them with go with the actual colors of the Bills - royal blue. Return to tradition.
  14. no matter how much you like a guy, it is extremely risky to give big money, multi-year extensions to guys over 30. This is what got the Bills in cap jai with Butler the first time around with huge contracts for players on the downside of their careers-like Ostrowski. Bills need to invest a 1 year contract in Fletcher and a 1st day draft pick slated for his replacement.
  15. The mmore disturbing conclusioin is that for all those passes in the red zone, very few are actually thrown into the end zone. Bills have a mysterious aversion of attacking the end zone and actually attempting to score TDs. Stats show that teams score a higher percentage of passing TDs
  16. yeah - he really lit up those boys from Duke in the impressive ACC
  17. nice list - brainiac you've got the top 10 list- too bad none of them will be there when the Bills pick somewhere after 15.
  18. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like a deep year for OL in the draft. The Chaos Commish poster on Footballguys had this to say about talent in the 2007 draft. "The DTs and DEs tell a similar story. Some nice ones and a cliff, though more DEs are emerging than I expected. There isn't half as many quality LBs as last year, but the top tier is comparable. The DBs are solid and respectably deep, but again, nothing like last year's mob. The OL talent is shallow, decent at the top, but mostly unimpressive, sorry. If you're dreaming of rebuilding an OL through this draft, you probably are dreaming. There's a few nice players, but understand if I don't see your team addressing pressing OL needs in round one (later is probably more likely this year). I have all OLs but #1 generally downgraded, especially Sam Baker and Levi Jones who have not played up to their press clippings. However, I do agree the lack of significant depth elsewhere could launch a few more OLs into the first round. "
  19. For those of you planning on the Bills' fixing the trenches through the draft, pickings may be slim in 2007. 20. Actually Miami did not impose any sanctions. The suspensions were directed by the ACC. Miami would not have suspended anyone on its direction.
  21. Marv is a good administrator but his strength is not in putting together a gameplan. If he had his way, the Bills would have never run the no-huddle.
  22. For Schiano to take the Miami job would be a step backward. Miami is not a plum job. They have horrible facilities, no on-campus stadium. They play in the decrepit orange bowl. Many of the coaches they let go or wiht ties to South Florida are now cherry picking the top talent from Miami under the Hurricanes nose Schiano has better facitlities at Rutgers and is the only major college football program in the NY area. Not to mention he is treated like a god for bringing back football to NYC. NO way he goes back to Miami. The guy that could change the direction in a hurry is Spurrier. they should break the bank to get the BAll Coach.
  23. worked for Dallas
  24. we forgot to cover Roy Williams
  25. NO the only play is to throw it in the end zone. then throw it in the end zone again if it doesn;t work
