  1. you are right- Martz is a great OC who produced geat results under Vermeil as HC. However, he is total buffoon as a HC - which is just what Miami needs.
  2. they would have less time off if the Big 10 had a championship game. But wait- one of the overrated fraud teams would have been exposed before the Bowl games and the Big 10 would have received a smaller payday with only 1 team in a BCS game. I guess you can forget about a championship game
  3. The 5th DT is one of the DEs who move inside on passing downs.
  4. you have stumbled onto another weakness of the cover 2. you need Superman (or Brian Urlacher) to play MLB. The trade off is you can get by with less than elite CBs. look for PAtrick Willis,
  5. make that LB Patrick Willis in the first round.
  6. you are right. too bad he is making the tackle 5-7 yards downfield. Bills desperately need LBs that fill the holes near the line of scrimmage. Fletcher is not that guy going forward. Patrick Willis would be a big upgrade.
  7. because they still play in the Big Ten where no one is capable of beating them.
  8. LB is a bit more of a priority than you think. 1 undersized LB and 2 LBs coming off serious injuries in a position that demands speed is not exactly the way to build a strong front 7. Spikes and Crowell may never make it back. in a weak LB class, don't be surprised if Bills take Patrick Willis with their first pick. Weak LB play in filling holes is why the run defense was so bad. They could use another big body to play the nose, but lack of quality LB play at the point of attack is a much more glaring need.
  9. without him we would have Vince Wilfork and no problem with stopping the run.
  10. Jarrett is a punk and is soft. He may have talent, but he sure won't be displaying it in Buffalo. He is exact opposite of the type of player that Jauron wants.
  11. The Bills OL was good at pass blocking but pretty ordinary (if not below average) run blocking. Their success was driven by the use of the no-huddle to gain a big advantage in wearing down defenses. Without the no huddle, the Ol was a very ordinary run blocking group.
  12. we were run on a lot because our LBs did not fill the gaps. Fletcher and Ellison are too small and Spikes is injured. Run stopping will improve when our LBs make some tackles somewhere near the line of scrimmage.
  13. do you read what you write? how can you explain that 5 of 9 picks started for the Bills then conclude that the draft will "contribute significantly to remaking your team"? Good teams find players in the draft in all rounds. Bills fans have been subjected to Teflon Tom's piss poor record in finding any talent in the draft so that our expectations have been seriously deflated. by the way, Fairchild was not brought here to brinjg the Ram offense. The team is being built to run the ball to control the tempo and pass the ball to score and get large chunks of yardage.
  14. the biggest improvement would be getting some LBs that make tackles within the same zip code of the line of scrimmage. If Crowell does not come back healthy, they could need 3 new starters.
  15. Contrary to the blather above, weakness lean towards 2 D players on day 1 and a likley OT/OG, which clearly is not heavily weighted to the O.
  16. Other than the maniacs on this board screaming for OL- what evidence is there that the Bills will focus on offense more than defense in this draft? Even if the Bills take an OL, the Bills need significant upgrade at DT and LB and also CB if Nate is not resigned. Fletcher is as good as gone- so they are probably 2 LBs short. The one advantage of the cover 2 is that it requires smaller faster LBs which are not in as much demand for other teams- so you can get them later, eg Keith Ellison.
  17. Not likely since Cowher was about to fire Meathead before TD snatched him up and overpaid him.
  18. Bill Cowher Dolphins have blown enough picks on bad QBs. Time to spend picks on a top flight coach.
  19. cap space does not equate to intelligent spending. Nate may make sense sinse he is young enough to play out a 5 year deal. Fletcher is history. You don't break the bank for 32 year LBs who rely on speed and could hit the wall at any time.
  20. It's can be done. It's called money ball. See Billy Beane in Oakland or the Flordia Marlins for road map of how it works in baseball. You just don't overspend on big name, over-the-hill slugs.
  21. you win games and control the tempo by running the ball. However, you throw the ball to score- typically set up by the run game.
  22. you will have to settle for Urban Meyer handing it to Jim Tressel. Michigan sure looked like a bunch of pretenders. How good is Ohio State D if they let up 42 to that offense?
  23. ignorance is bliss. you need larger DEs in a 3-4 in order to hold up against the run as well as a much larger DT able to take on the G-T consistently. There is no way in hell that Jauron /Fewell morph their cover -2 philosophy with smaller quicker Dts into a 3-4.
  24. Every year the Bills get OL help. It just turns out to be recycled crap.
  25. Bills need better LBs. Keith Ellison is a nice story but there is a reason he was a 6th rounder. Spikes played like crap. Fletcher had a lot of tackles, but they weren't in the same zip code of the line of scrimmage.
