  1. I think you are wrong here. This defense does need an outstanding player at MLB. That player has to be able to fill holes on running plays, be able to cover the deep middle of the field on pass plays and be smart enough to know when to do each. Patrick Willis fills this hole just like Whitner filled the SS slot last year.
  2. IF Okoye is gone, I expect Willis to be the pick in the first. could be multiple CBs taken since only 3 on the roster- but I expect them to add a FA RB could be a day 1 priority.
  3. Okoye is the number 1 priority but he will be gone at #12- Willis becomes the likely pick.
  4. do like NE and play your extra WR as a CB. Startign caliber LB is the biggest need. they need 2. Without quality LBs, you won't need CBs because teams will just run the ball at will- like last year.
  5. I don't think Walker is set at RT. The loser of the RT competition may be moved to RG.
  6. Miami wants him to play opposite TAylor.
  7. no they cut most of their OL and the interior of their DL. Hopefully they draft Levi Brown since they don;t have LT. Hopefully Okoye slips to Bills but Willis will probably be the target.
  8. anything less than a high 2nd is too little for Willis. He has more value in Buffalo playing in his contract year.
  9. Willis is worth more to the Bills than a 3rd or 4th round pick. The pick needs to no worse than a very high 2nd (which Denver does not have) or the Bills should just keep him and let him play out his contract year. Pointless to give away starting players and get back peanuts in return. Especialy since Bills have absolutely no way else on the roster.
  10. Willis is not going anywhere. The Bills called Rosenhaus' bluff. They will not be redoing his contract since the league has refuted Willis contention that he is a top back. He will have to prove it on the field in 2007 for the Bills to get his big contract.
  11. Risk / reward. The reward from having a premiere QB who touches the ball on every offensive play is worht the risk of an injury. However, a CB who can only impact plays on his side of the field can be taken out of games by a good offense. When you add in the fact that our defense is designed to minimize the need for elite skills at CB, the risk of a big contract for a CB far outweigh the benefits.
  12. Bills were gouged by running up the gut. not quite sure how Nate helps with that problem. Building a strong front 7 is the key to being effective on defensive - which is why keeping Kelsey makes sense. continue on.
  13. If you consider a player who bad mouths the organization about its personnel decisons a team leader then losing Spikes will be bad. I look at the lack of production for big money contract and don't see a correlation. However, since they have cap room, I think they bring him to camp and hope he proves them wrong.
  14. here's a thought- do both sign Green for reasonable money and draft a player to compete with him.
  15. that is exactly why you don't break the bank for any one player, like Nate Clements. too easy to lose the player to injury and the team is hamstrung for years to come by the lost cash and cap room
  16. you could -- but the risk/reward doesn't support paying such big money to anyone other than a top flight QB. where would they be if Nate got injured, like Spikes. the team would be hamstrung for years to come.
  17. I believe he's a free agent
  18. they cut Drew yet or they still holding out hope of trading him to Al Davis?
  19. Probably not based on college performance - but they probably won't be there in round 3. If they take an OL in round 2 it will be someone like Staley who can play OT. I doubt they take an OG in round 2 - you can get similar production in round 3. Bills would be better served looking to grab a CB, LB, or DL that falls out of the 1st round. This is a deep draft for WR and someone like Sidney Rice could fall to the Bills.
  20. sacrilege! everyone knows Marv is senile look for Landry to go top 10 this year.
  21. sure you need CBs. but you don't need to spend $20 mil in cash for one. Bill Parcells had philosophy that you don't spend big bucks on CBs and WRs. Although teh cap got bigger, the annual budget is limited and you have to decide where to spend your resources.
  22. except that Nate does nothing to stop the run, while Kelsay is a key component to the front 7.
  23. Based on those salaries, I would bet there is guaranteed money in each year which helps to ensure that he will not get cut before teh contract is up because teh Bills would be obligated to pay real cash to a player not on the roster if they cut him. This would not be just a cap hit with play money. The annual amount for each year will come to close to $6 mil.
  24. Willis will at the latest go to the Rams at #13. He will not be there at end of 1st round. Bills are better off taking a OG in the 3rd round like Manny Ramieriez.
  25. there may be MLB prospects, but none of them are considered "very" good. Buster Davis would be a big risk because of his size. Brandon Siler from Florida would be better. You could not rely on any MLB after Willis to be able to produce immediately in 2007. they might, but you would definitely need a viable backup plan.
