didn't say he wasn't a diff maker. Bills need a MLB more than a 1st round RB with a bad back who will play no more than 4 years based on historical norms.

Marshawn Lynch may have back problems

Back injuries are very touchy. He played through some back pain last year. I would not be investing a 1st rounder in a gimpy back. -

You bet - I could see several teams wanting to move up and take the injured Lynch at #12. Who else is trade bait? -
Sure he's a difference maker- for about 4 years, if he's lucky. The Jets made the playoffs without a difference maker at RB. The Patriots won the Super Bowl with Antoinene Smith. The Bills have bigger holes on defense that need impact players, than the luxury of a high priced RB. It looks like you will get your wish, because Willis and Okoye will most likely be gone by the Bills pick.
-
Kenny Davis was dumb as a post. If he had to do anything moe than run straight ahead, he was in trouble. Any RB the Bills draft needs to have some smarts to pick up blitzes and run the proper patterns.
-
We would be "stuck" because the key defenders would be gone, and there is noone left to entice a trade down. I believe you can get similar produciton from a team approach by taking a RB in round 3, and don;t need to invest #12 in a RB. The Jets made the playoffs with Leon Washington, Blalock and Barlow as their backs last year. The Bills need to get a long term difference maker in the 1st round, like Okoye or Willis. My guess is the Bills will take Willis in the 1st round, even if they have to trade up for him.

Scratch Patrick Willis off your draft wish list.

obie_wan replied to Brandon's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The MLB means so much to the Cover-2- don't be surprised if the Bills do move up into the top 10 to secure Willis. -
I take it you are not a member the Golden Dome hype machine?

Texans traded for Shaub. They don;t want no stinking overhyped Golden Domer.

Willis will gone at #11 to SF, at the latest.

Michael Bush has another surgery on the broken leg

We can use that phathom 5th rounder on Bush -
Those 2 DBs should be gone in the top 15. NE arain would feast on the stupidity of those above them.

LAtest Mock Draft from PFT http://www.profootballtalk.com/2007mockdraft3.0.htm here's the horror story draft for those that want a RB in rd 2 or 3. Based on this scenario, Willis, Okoye and Branch are gone. I do think the Raiders draft Johnson and possibly trade for Carr. The Bills may be stuck with Lynch. Can't see who would be willing to trade up for what's on the board except possibly Green Bay if they want Lynch. But if the Bills don't take him, he probably falls to GB anyway. 1. Oakland Raiders: Calvin Johnson, wide receiver, Georgia Tech. 2. Detroit Lions: Joe Thomas, offensive tackle, Wisconsin. 3. Cleveland Browns: JaMarcus Russell, quarterback, LSU. 4. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Gaines Adams, defensive end, Clemson. 5. Arizona Cardinals: Jamaal Anderson, defensive end, Arkansas. 6. Washington Redskins: Alan Branch, defensive tackle, Michigan. 7. Minnesota Vikings: Brady Quinn, quarterback, Notre Dame. 8. Houston Texans: Adrian Peterson, running back, Oklahoma. 9. Miami Dolphins: LaRon Landry, defensive back, LSU. 10. Atlanta Falcons: Amobi Okoye, defensive tackle, Louisville. 11. San Francisco 49ers: Patrick Willis, linebacker, Mississippi. 12. Buffalo Bills: Marshawn Lynch, running back, California. 13. St. Louis Rams: Jarvis Moss, defensive end, Florida. 14. Carolina Panthers: Robert Meachem, wide receiver, Tennessee. 15. Pittsburgh Steelers: Dwayne Bowe, wide receiver, LSU. 16. Green Bay Packers: Leon Hall, cornerback, Michigan. 17. Jacksonville Jaguars: Levi Brown, offensive tackle, Penn State. 18. Cincinnati Bengals: Ben Grubbs, guard, Auburn. 19. Tennessee Titans: Ted Ginn, Jr., wide receiver, Ohio State. 20. New York Giants: Aaron Ross, cornerback, Texas. 21. Denver Broncos: Adam Carriker, defensive end, Nebraska. 22. Dallas Cowboys: Arron Sears, offensive tackle, Tennessee. 23. Kansas City Chiefs: Eric Wright, cornerback, UNLV. 24. New England Patriots (from Seattle): Reggie Nelson, defensive back, Florida. 25. New York Jets: Anthony Spencer, defensive end, Purdue. 26. Philadelphia Eagles: Sidney Rice, wide receiver, South Carolina. 27. New Orleans Saints: Greg Olsen, tight end, Miami. 28. New England Patriots: Darrelle Revis, cornerback, Pitt. 29. Baltimore Ravens: Ryan Kalil, center, USC. 30. San Diego Chargers: Lawrence Timmons, linebacker, Florida State. 31. Chicago Bears: Joe Staley, tackle, Central Michigan. 32. Indianapolis Colts: Tony Ugoh, tackle, Arkansas.

Scratch Patrick Willis off your draft wish list.

Willis has extremely long arms - which help in pass coverage but make it harder to bench press. I'll take the speed and let the Bills strentgh team build up any missing muscle mass. -
DRAFT talk- What do you think the Bills are lying about
obie_wan replied to Pyrite Gal's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Two biggest lies 1. they are happy moving Crowell to the middle. This defense demands Superman in the middle. They dearly hope that Willis gets past SF, but will take their chances with Crowell as the fall back plan. 2. they are happy with a RBBC --they would much prefer to have a dominant back but will live with a committee of backs if they have to It the draft goes as this PFT mock, then it will be Lynch unless they are able to convince GB to trade up for him.http://www.profootballtalk.com/2007mockdraft3.0.htm -
He sucked so bad, he was benched. The coaches were forced to bastardize the cover-2 defense so they wouldn't be embarassed. When they let he & Clements play straight man-to-man the bulk of the time in the 2nd half of the year, he performed much better. But playing man is not the cover-2- so if McGee does not figure out how to play zone he will be covering the slot WR as a nickel back.

can a rookie MLB like willis call defensive signals?
obie_wan replied to truth on hold's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You must be mistaken. First, seeing Ryans on the field was a mirage. Ryans never would have been to able to play since he was a rookie - thus not capable of contributing immediately. Second, all rookies are too stupid to be able get on the field let alone call the defensive signals. Teams would rather spite themselves and pass on the superior talent to go with the experienced vet with less than ideal skills. -
Youbouty versus a 1st round drafted CB
obie_wan replied to Pyrite Gal's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Since his play was so bad that they benched him, then changed the coverage away from zone, my conclusion is that they have serious concerns about his performance. Tough to cut him and lose Clements in the same year. However, it does make drafting a CB on day one a likely event. -

obie_wan replied to truth on hold's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
NO- All rookies are too stupid to play this complex game. Especially when the defense is as vanilla as the one Jauron runs. Very little blitzing, just all out attack the line of scrimmage. -
Best online mock draft I have seen
obie_wan replied to SACTOBILLSFAN's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
yeah - he is as sure a thing as that previous Notre Dame QB -Rick Mirer. Quinn is a product of the Golden Dome hype machine.
