  1. If you are going to sign a previouly underperforming RB- I would take a chance with Chris Brown. Julius Jones is exactly what we don't want - an inconsistent fumbler Jones may have dressed for all games, but he sure didn't get the critical carries and was always dinged. not thanks
  2. For a coach whose whoel offensive is geared to running the football and controlling the clock - why would he want to get rid of a young tailback - unless that back is severely flawed and injury prone. No thanks. Do what Parcells did and draft a RB inthe mid-rounds like Marion Barber and make him your starter.
  3. http://nfldraftguys.com/features/2007_NFL_...pdate_Nowak.php interesting read on the 2007 RB class Brandon Jackson gets a good plug
  4. maybe before he blew out his knee. Poz is a shell of what he used to be - justt like Shane Conlan and Spikes were only average after injury. He has great instincts and knows where to go- but he can't get there anymore. Hopefully this administration does not waste a 1st round pick on an injured player based on pre-injury hype.
  5. Booker is not big enough for full time duty, but bigger than Thurman Thomas, Emmitt SMith, Barry Sanders Priest Holmes and the lsit goes on. perfect compliment in a RBBC and could be something more
  6. Ricky plays all out on the field, both before and after he walked out. He had enough of Wannstadt trying to run him 400 times a season behind a non-existent OL. Marv would play Ricky.
  7. Bills will draft a RB in the 3rd of whomever drops. Brandon Jackson or Lorenzo Booker are the fall back plan they already have the UDRFA in the name of Fred Jackson.
  8. 1. No way Jarrett goes to SF-lucky if he goes anywhere in the 1st round. SF will take Willis or DL. 2. Okoye is 1st DT taken in top 10 - Branch will fall 3. Dolphins have 0 OL. No way they take Ginn at #9 with Levi Brown on the board 4. Bills will not trade down if Willis is still at #12. He is the premier MLB in the draft who fits the cover-2 to a T.
  9. not if that defense requires speed and he is slow as molasass. He may know where to go, but he won't be able to get there. Spike was a great LB until he blew out his achilles. Bills cut him becuase he can't move- same with with Pos
  10. expensive bench warmer? I don't think so
  11. slow and broken is not what you want out of your 1st rounder. Ask teh Dolphins about reaching for Jason Allen based on pre-injury performances. A LB should not be replacing reliance on speed with instincts until after age 30, not as a rookie.
  12. just sbout the same size or bigger than Barry Sanders, Emmit Smith, Priest Holmes and Thurman Thomas- to name just 4. Can't see how they could possibly succeed in the NFL. History shows that the most productive backs are about 5-10 and in the 200-210 range. Bigger backs become targets.
  13. It's clear he can run. But is he smart enough and skilled enough to pick up blitzes and run pass routes taht would justify the meg-contract he wants. Kenny Davis alos looked great in spot duty because he only had to run straight ahead. Kenny, however, was dumb as a post, and could not run patterns or pass protect or block. He was one dimensional and filled a role. However, he could not perform as a full time feature back. The Bills need to determine if Turner is the real deal.
  14. if you want a legitimate game breaking RB and Peterson is gone, you will have to wait until next year's draft when there should be at least 8 such prospects. That's why this year is likley to be a RBBC with the best group that can be cobbled together. Turner is an option this year, but he is not a proven can't miss RB and he wants a big contract that is not justified on historical performance.
  15. Hopefully, the Bills do not consider Pos an option. He is too slow to make an impact in this defense. He may justify his draft slot as an inside backer in a 3-4.
  16. AJ can only bull sh*t for so long. Once the draft passes, he won;t be able to use those draft picks until 2008 - which won;t help him replace Turner in 2007 for their SuperBowl run.
  17. yeah- you really need to use more than Mel Kiper and 1 all-star game for your analysis.
  18. Or s rotation can be a way to get elite level production from the unit when none of the individual parts are superstar caliber. When the front 7 operates as a team and gang tackles in mass, you can cover up some lack of talent by scheme and energy. Reality is that you can't have elite players at all positions. Since the path to the playoffs goes thru NE and NYJ, 2 teams with quick timing passing attacks, it makes the most sense to use a defense that will attack the pocket and disrupt the timing of the offense. Bills will be fine
  19. which is why Fletcher is no longer a Bill. A team which bases its defense on speed also has to have all the parts working together. As the DL pushes upfield to disrupt plays in the backfield, the LBs and DBs need to be properly positioned to make the tackles. The LBs need to aggressively attack the cutback lanes. They will draft LBs that fit this profile. What they lose in experience, they will make up for in speed, tackling and aggressiveness. With a full year and another off-season, the entire defense will function much better as a unit- even though they are missing some big names.
  20. NFL.com Hunt (6-1 5/8, 234) ran his 40s in 4.68 and 4.71. He also had a 31 ½-inch vertical jump, 9-foot-2 long jump, 4.72 short shuttle and a 7.39 three-cone drill. Forget about Tony Hunt as a possible answer at RB for the Bills. His Pro-Day was a disaster. Maybe a FB on day 2
  21. What they really need to do is draft a bona fide center to be the eventual replacement for Fowler. In the meantime, he can play RG. They have been trying Merz at C, but not sure how good he can be.
  22. The LBs need to make tackles. That's why having fast LBs is important to catch RBs from turing the corner. Pos is too slow for this scheme- Wills is not.
  23. Bills have carried 10 OL in the past- whic is good news for Bill from NYC since the bills have room to draft another OL - hopefully its on day 1
  24. Adams and Anderson will both be gone. Carriker is the more likely target, but it would be early for him. However, they may be interested in Branch to achor their 3-4, if they aren 't scared off by the Mike Williams type motivational problems. Moving up would cost 100 points which is about a 4th round pick. (or the 3rd from Balt in 2008) that would be well worth it to secure the key cog in your cover-2 scheme.
