  1. 1. Houston could trade down with Bills and trade down again for more picks if they wanted. 2. With the 8th pick, Marv did what I predicted. He felt more comfortagble with the sure thing in Whitner rather than risk losing the targetted player in exchange for more picks. I think Marv will again go hard after the player they want and move up 2 spots to make sure they get him.
  2. To Marv's credit, he took the advice of his staff and moved to get the player they wanted and needed. I can see it happening here in that after Willis there is very little of value that the Bills really need at #12. A 4th rounder is a small price to pay to get someone who they may feel has Urlacher potential in this defense.
  3. The Bills had Thurman Thomas, a bona fide Hall of Famer, and he shared times with the likes of Robb Riddick and Kenny Davis, among others. I'm just saying - if Turner was so good - he would have forced himself on to the field. My guess is that he's lacking in some critcal skills to be a feature back.
  4. Turner may actually be more of a risk than a rookie in regard to the above items. IT seems that if he had mastered the little things noted above after 3 years in the league, and he is as good a runner as hyped, then why didn't SD get creative to get him on the field more. They could have used him in teh backfield and spit LT out wide- you wouldn;t be ebenching any premier talent at WR. My guess is they feared Brees/Rivers would have gotten killed due to inferior blocking and blitz pickup skills. Turner is worth a 3rd and no more. My guess is the contract he wants will be prohibitive as well.
  5. I like the plan. Pass on an elite player like Willis at a position of huge need, because Coy Wire is now a starting LB.
  6. To me it's cost for value. Turner will cost draft picks and mega-bucks. He can run, but after 4 years in the league, I don't think he can do anything but run the football. Blitz recogintion, blocking, football smarts all need to be confirmed. If he was a feature back, SD would have found a way to get him on the field with LT to maximize him a s a resource, especially since SD's WRs were so bad.
  7. you got any film clips of him picking up blitzes, blocking or running patterns. I think he is Kenny Davis- a good backup who could run straight ahead, but severely deficient in the performing the little things needed to be a feature back.
  8. As note in teh mock, houston is looking to move down, and the Bills will oblige with a 4th rounder to get Willis at #10.
  9. The only way to get playmakers is to draft them. By giving up the 12th pick, the Bills give up a high probability of landing an elite playmaker like Willis. 2 "good" players is not what puts good teams over the top.
  10. Culpepper would have a good case too. After spending his off-season rehabbing in a Walmart parking lot, how could the Fins actually expected he would ever be able to play again. Culpepper sucks because he has no brain, and can't make decisions Tough to blame that on the Dolphins.
  11. It's a moot point because he will be gone by #12, but just for giggles. The Bills will only keep 4 DTS. IF they pick Okoye who do you cut out of Triplett, Williams, McCargo or Walker? not going to happen. Bills will trade up to #10 for Willis- an elite player to fill a gaping hole.
  12. so if they don't play 8 in the box to stop the run, the Bills big OL will maul and your grandmother could pick up big yards consistently. I thought McGahee sucked anyway- so where was the running threat last year? Bills were pretty successful when Atrrain was filling in.
  13. Experience or not- does anyone here have a clue whether Turner can do anything other than run the football straight ahead. Can he pick up blitzes? Can he run pass patterns? Can he block? If he could do any of those things proficiently, I would think he would have on the field a lot more than what he played in SD. The Bills spelled Thurman alot with Robb Riddick and Kenny DAvis and he's in teh Hall of Fame. The red flag goes up when San Diego chose to not use Turner more and in the backfield at the same time as LT - if Turner was so good, how do keep him off the field? For anything more than a 3rd, I take a RB in the 3rd round like Lorenzo Booker or Brandon Jackson and take my chances with a RBBC.
  14. you don't want to spend the #12 pick on the only elite LB in the draft who is a difference maker. yet you want to give away the 12th pick in a package for a soft RB who couldn't get out of Parcell's dog house due to weak performances, fumbling and inconsistency. I'll take my chances on a RB in the 3rd round until the real talent comes out next year.
  15. What purpose would a pass rush DE who can't play LB serve on a defense that does not blitz and needs its LBs to play pass defense?
  16. Willis is an elite player at a position of need. Bills need to trade up to #10 to make sure they get him. Consolation prizes at #12 will not produce a difference maker (Peterson will not drop that far)
  17. All of these rumors are being floated by AJ Smith and Turner's agent to create a false sense of demand. Real interest in Turner and what teams are willing to give up will be vastly different that what is being reported now.
  18. Raiders will not draft Russell at #1. They will take Calvin Johnson unless they can arrange a blockbuster deal to move down.
  19. the opposite is true. Why would they go after the backup Turner for big bucks when they can get an elite back in Peterson?
  20. probably - if Willis is not available. which is why I think it is worth it to give up 100 points (about 4th rounder) to move up to #10 to lock in an elite player at a need position and avoid being stuck a 1st round CB.
  21. The world of differnce is that Chris Brown would not cost us an arn and leg ( the loss of use of the 12th pick). I would take the chance on Chris Brown - who is very effective both running and receiving when healthy. HIs upside is much higher than Jones. Jones is soft. The Bill shoud learn that when good coaches like Parcells and Belichek cut loose players there is probably a real good reason why. The risk of injury with Brown is mitigated by drafting a RB in the 3rd round and using Atrain.
  22. you left out 2 guys who I think could fit immediately into a RBBC - Brandon Jackson and Lorenzo Booker whol will be available in the 3rd. Would be especially potent if the Bills sign Chris Brown or trade for Ricky Williams. If the Bills really think Fred JAckson has some talent, doesn't make sense to waste a #1 when they can get similar production from a RBBC.
  23. because thier interest in the trade was to move Dre Bly. They took the best offer they could get. Sort of like Best Player Available in the draft. They aren't wed to T.Bell if they can use him to get something more valuable.
  24. I'd take a back in round 3, sign Ricky or Chris Brown to go with A-train.
  25. that's why the Bills will trade up to #10 with Houston to get Willis
