  1. Buster Davis is a clone of Fletcher - too short to dominate in the middle. Poz is a better fit in 3-4 as a middle LB- not as a speed guy in a cover -2. You are banging a square peg into a round hole by insisiting on moving Willis to OLB and acquiring other LBs whose skills sets don;t fit the cover-2. not going to happen.
  2. I would tend to agree. Lynch gets 1st round ranking this year only because of the overall weak class and especially weak RB class. If they do get Willis in the 1st, they may look at Rice in the 2nd round.
  3. If the Bills are compelled to take a CB in the 1st round, then McGee will be the one covering slot receivers in the nickle package.
  4. the 1 longest carry in each of the 12 games he played. The point is that his over inflated YPC stat is heavily influenced by the few number of carries. sorry to rain on your parade
  5. Since we only keep 4- who gets cut out of McCargo, Triplett, Williams and Walker. consider Jefferson and Anderson already gone. We already have DEs like Denney and hargrove who can move inside on passing downs.
  6. Instead of panicking, the Bills will pro-actively manage the draft and move up to #10 to make sure they get Willis - the one player they truly need to fill a major hole.
  7. not only do the Bills faithful think ESPN has an ax to grind. This from everyone's favorite site to bash - PFT ESPN RIPS THE BILLS We haven't watched many of the "On the Clock" segments that have been aired on SportsCenter over the past few weeks. Primarily because we rarely watch SportsCenter. Primarily because SportsCenter has become unwatchable for anyone older than 15 who has an IQ higher than 16. But we saw Sunday's "On the Clock" feature regarding the Buffalo Bills, and we were shocked at how mercilessly Chris Mortensen, Darren Woodson, and Mel Kiper Jr. trashed the franchise. They focused primarily on the fact that four veterans are now gone -- running back Willis McGahee, linebacker London Fletcher-Baker-Robbins-Oppenheim-and-Taft, cornerback Nate Clements, and linebacker Takeo Spikes. And the trio suggested that the franchise is merely cutting payroll, possibly in advance of a sale of the team. But they completely ignored the fact that the Bills paid big money to defensive end Chris Kelsay and offensive linemen Langston Walker and Derrick Dockery. In our view, the piece was fully out of balance, and we were shocked that none of those three guys presented a more accurate view of the team. First of all, McGahee was moved because McGahee wanted out. Destined to be a free agent in 2008, the Bills got what they could for him now, which was a package including two first-day picks. Though they might have been able to get Clements to take Derrick Dockery money in the fall of 2006, we can't fault the Bills for not getting into the overbidding for Clements in March. He is a solid corner but no Champ Bailey. The Niners clearly overpaid. As to the two linebackers who aren't there anymore, well, they're both on the old side -- and Spikes possibly is on the down side. Getting dissed is fine and dandy for the Bills. It's always better to be among the overlooked NFL franchises, since it's easier to catch the teams that are supposed to be "better" on paper off guard. Depending on whether they can get a top-notch tailback in round one, we think the Bills will be a factor in 2007. Even if the guys at ESPN are ready to write them off. Then again, it was Mel Kiper who suggested prior to the 2001 season that the Patriots could be the first team in NFL history to go 0-16. Mel was only a little bit off in his assessment.
  8. how about posting some film clips that show he can do those things. there is a reason he lasted unitl the 5th round even though he had great rushing stats in college. there is a reason the Chargers drafted Darren Sproles to replace him even though Turner is a superstar in the making. there is a reason that a team that goes 14-2 with multiple blow-outs still overworks LT with over 400 touches and can only get Turner 80 carries. Marty is smart enough to know that he needs a healthy and fresh LT to make a playoff run. But he's also smart enough to know that an RB that can't or won't block will get his QB killed. and why did he catch just 3 passes when the RB is such a big component of their offense. LT had over 50. Posters are gaga over his yards per carry- which is heavily inflated by his long runs posted after the defense was worn down by LT. If you take away his 1 longest carry in the 12 games he played, his average drops to a much more pedestrian 3.9. show me something to support that he is the complete package and worthy of more than a 3rd pick.
  9. No Gomez Addams I hear Matt Millen has a thing for Morticia.
  10. yeah- he has sure shown it in his last 3 years in SD!
  11. Detroit they are looking to move down for either Adams or Willis.
  12. Buster Davis is too short to play MLB in teh cover 2. He is a clone of Fletcher which is what they want upgraded. We do not need as many players as possible. We need playmakers and difference makers. This draft is just a bunch of guys.
  13. Why? spending $25 mil on Fletcher not good enough for their 1 MLB.
  14. He needs to be able to do more than just run to justify more than a 3rd round pick. SD sure didn;t have any confidnce in him being able to block, blitz pickup and run routes. Maybe he is intellectually challenged You can get a one dimensional RB in this year's draft in the 3rd round. Maybe there was a reason Turner went in round 5 even though he put up huge rushing stats in college.
  15. agreed the draft is the only consistent way to get elite players. They need to get an elite player in the 1st round. Trading down from #12 or trading for Turner will add add the differnce makers and play makers this team needs.
  16. Jimmy is a firm believer in taking drafting players at their perceived value. He was willing then to move up or down in the draft to take players at their proper "perceived" spot. However, he had great problems with arranging trades during teh draft because other GMs had no way to objectively value the picks so they could quickly do deals. He came up with his chart as an objective way of valuing picks so trades could be quickly arranged. The table is a framework but they follow it pretty close. That's why 6th and 7th round picks get thrown into deals. Note that picks in next year's draft are discounted by a round, so a 2008 #1 is equivalent to 2007 #2.
  17. well there's the rub- for as terrific he was in college as a runner- he still was only drafted in the 5th round. and as terrific as he's in been in mop up duty for SD, he has not forced SD to get him on the field more. Note that Darrick Blalock looked great running the ball when Priest got hurt, but he has seriously sucked when the focal point of the offense. My guess is that Turner is a terrific runner, but he has serious shortcomings in blocking, blitz pickup and pass receiving that will prevent him from being a "terrific" feature back - and thus not worth the picks and contract being floated around.
  18. cover -2 or not Branch is lazy, soft and unmotivated- similar to the last oversized we drafted. no thanks
  19. Turner may be in Buffalo to determine if he fits with the program. That has nothing to do with whata the Bills are willing to offer SD. Anything more than a #3 is overpaying for unfilled potential.
  20. you left out hargrove. With a team with serious holes, you don't keep burning resources on a posiition which is already maxed out. This team has zero bona fide starting LBs that are healthy.
  21. of course they can- but why waste resources when you have to cut one of Williams, McCargo, Walker or Triplett. All who fit the rotation and have upside. Anderson is already considered expendable. Okoye could fit because he could probably get snaps at DE and you could cut loose Hargrove if you had to. Okoye will be long gone by #12 - so that is moot.
  22. McCargo was hurt all year and Jefferson wasn't active for most games- so they only had 3 active DTs because they moved hargrove and Denney inside on passing downs. so if you draft Herrell who gets cut? highly doubtful the Bills draft any DTs because there is no room on the roster.
  23. The Bills will only keep 4 DTs- so who do you cut out of Triplett, McCargo, Williams and Walker if you take Harrell in the 2nd round.
  24. The "favorite" of who? those impeccable TV talking heads? DSave me from the propaganda and hype machine. Calvin Johnson will go #1
  25. 2 first rounders will definitely get it done
