  1. so what are they trading up for? Who on the board at #11 is a can't miss prospect?
  2. Since this is a one of the strongest drafts for tackles in a long time, the Bills would be better off taking a bona fide LT and moving him to G for the short term. They have zero backups behind Walker and Peters.
  3. yeah the medical staff was stellar last year with keeping guys on the field justs saying hopefully Stroud's ankle does not have recurring problems
  4. so which team will be trading up for these crappy WRs that we don't want? if not WRs, what and who will they be willing to mortgage the bank to move up for?
  5. if Derick Harvey is the DE from Florida, he will probably go in the 1st round - as will Fred Davis.
  6. This situationi is pretty easy to understand. Johnson was a free agent. John Guy is responsible for evaluating pro personnel, including free agents. John Guy, perhaps, undersestimated the need for talent at the WR position (or he is just generally incompetent at pro personnel) The result is the Bills do not add talent and force themselves into drafting a WR if they want to improve.
  7. we had the same holes last year at WR. Last year's free agent plan was the same as this year's - do nothing. Based on prior history of being forced into drafting specific positions - the Bills will reach for a WR at #11 who will take 3 years to become productcive - just in time for the next coach.
  8. no way! John Guy is a god!
  9. or they will trust their scouts who actually watched Willis dominate in the SEC.
  10. for what it's worth , this is what Gil Brandt says about Willis. He must have watched more than the Senior Bowl. . Patrick Willis, Mississippi (6-1 1/8, 242; 4.53) Willis had a complete workout at the Combine. He ran two 40s in 4.51 and 4.53, the short shuttle in 4.46 and the cone drill in 7.23. He also had a 35-inch vertical jump, a 9-foot-11 long jump and did 21 bench presses. Willis worked out again on March 20 at Mississippi's Pro Day and ran 4.57 and 4.38 at a weight of 237 pounds. He was a running back and linebacker in high school, scoring 392 points and 62 TDs. He also had 23 sacks and 11 interceptions. Willis was also an all-state honorable mention in basketball. He played as a true freshman, but did not start a game until 2005. He was named SEC Defensive Player of the Year in 2006. He has very good athletic ability, is an outstanding competitor and a very aggressive run stopper. He has great stamina and does a good job playing off blocks. He showed skills dropping into coverage at his pro day and will play with injuries. Willis will be a good player and will make a lot of big plays for his team. He has Pro Bowl ability.
  11. unless he got hurt (again). after spending a boatload of picks, he would set the franchise back to square 1.
  12. much better way to build a winner is to get an impact plaeyr when available and as you say fill out the hole at RB with vets- like Chris Brown and a 3rd rounder with upside like Brandon Jackson.
  13. Crowell is at best a stop gap at MLB.
  14. I would say the downside with Willis is pretty high. He is a high character, self-motiviated guy. At worst he is a marginal starter. However, he does have the possilibitly of being special in this cover-2.
  15. Because Shane Conlan played for Penn State and he played for Marv in Buffalo.
  16. didn't say he was just that he will generate similar production in the Bills RBBC at a far lower pick
  17. The basis for your conclusion is wrong. Many experts believe Lynch does not carry a 1st round grade. Brando Jackson will generate equivalent production in 3rd round. In a weak LB class, Willis is clearly #1. He carries even more value to teh Bills (over the 2nd tier prospects) because of how his speed range will allow him it to exdel as the MLB in the cover 2. The 2nd tier prospects may be good pros in a tradional 4-3, but the drop off from Willis in the cover-2 is huge.
  18. Sapp dropped because he actually failed a drug test while playing for the U. The results of teh drug test somehow were hidden by the U coach (Erickson I believe). It was big deal because the info was released right before the draft.
  19. which means Brandon Jackson is probably the target - He runs better between the tackles than Pittman and has all of the skills except blazing speed
  20. sure they can get one in the 7th round too. but neither will be a playmaker at the most critical positon in this defense.
  21. how does a guy that may miss most of the 2007 season solve our RB shortage for 2007?
  22. For a team that needs an immediate contribution from its RB in 2007, what good is a RB with a broken leg that needed additional surgery? Other than that, he's the prefect fit, if you like oversized RBs that fall down with minimal contact and don;t run hard between the tackles.
  23. they don;t need to trade down to draft a RB. Brandon Jackson and Lorenzo Booker would be better options than Irons and Pittman.
  24. Yeah - I can see how getting a bunch of backups in a weak draft to compete with each will get us over the hump. We need playmakers and difference makers.
