  1. What really compounds the problem is not only reaching for a need position (which you created yourself) but locking onto an injured player as well. the bills absolutely need an impact player at #11 and they need production in 2008. A WR takes 3 years to produce if healthy - go defense or OL at #11
  2. Crowell would be a good backup at all 3 positions. He makes a lot of tackles but is not a playmaker. The Bills need to add more play makers. Adding Mithcell as insurance is what the Bills should have done at WR. Patch the hole and then be free to draft a young stud if the opportunity presents itself - not force yourself to reach for a player In any event, the Bills need LBs since both Stamer, Coy wire and Hagan are all gone from last year.
  3. when there are 5 or 6 WRs that are pretty similar in talent - then it makes no sense to reach for the guy with the injury who has not proven on the field that his wrist is not a problem catching the football.
  4. This makes a lot of sense based on teh Bills historical trend of getting rid of starters only to create a hole with no resoiurces or talent available to fill that hole (and numerous other pre-existing ones). There are no free agents or elite WRs that are sure fire bets to fill the WR#2 availabe for the 2008 season- yet you want to create a hole at WR#1 as well. That should do wonders for Trent's development as a QB.
  5. A WR with a chronic wrist problem that hampers his ability to catch the ball is definitely a can't miss prospect! Bennett and Caldwell will be as productive but you will be getting a healthy player in the 2nd round
  6. Paying $2 mil for 1 year to Bryant Johnson is not exactly breaking the bank - and would have been the smart move to provide a big, veteran in 2008. The Bills would not be forced to draft a rookie WR too early and any rookie drafted in 2008 would play when ready
  7. how about we use the WRs that we have but have them run patterns out of an NFL designed offense. some slants, crossing patterns, seam patterns, etc
  8. Vernon Davis is the case study for the why you don't blow high #1 picks on guying catching the ball. "
  9. Figures it would go over your head Bodies heal at a pretty consistent rate. The poster contends that "these guys are freaks who recover fast". Any major acceleration to the heawling process is being promoted by outside additives.
  10. He probably can;t even run go routes anymore with those bad knees. With the glut of WRs in this draft and the high odds of first round Wrs busting - why do people want to significantly increase the odds of wasting the 1st round on a injured WR? Take Earl Bennett in the 2nd round
  11. how cold is the weather before Thanksgiving?
  12. Sweed was impacted by the wrist for most of the 2007 season. He has not proven on the field that he will ever fully recover. A WR with a bad hand is useless. Any super speedy recovery is probably being fueled by streroids and HGH - which puts him at further risk of missing time due to suspension if he keeps using or vastly diminished performance if he gets off the juice.
  13. Kyle Williams is another low round pick who plays because we have no one else. not to mention Stroud has not proven he has recovered fully from his ankle and he is one drug test from a 1 year suspension. I could see room for a top flight DT if one is available.
  14. what cold weather games? Their season is essentially over by Thanksgiving and they play bowl games in the South or in domes.
  15. a one armed WR is probably as good a pick as one leg RB.
  16. if we want an impact WR for 2007, the free agent boat left the dock a while ago. the best you can hope for is to draft a project that is smart enough to learn the playbook.
  17. Gary Kubiak left The emperor has no clothes!
  18. he is also not currently broken
  19. there are no elite WRs worthy of #11- They should fortify the lines or defense and take Earl Bennett in round 2
  20. You are correct. why indeed draft a legitimate LT and top 10 talent when the Bills could instead have their pick of injured and overrated WRs that probably won;t produce as a #2 WR until year 3 - if they turn out to be healthy. We could move Clady inside to play G for the short term and have a real bona fide backup LT on the roster. Draft Earl Bennett in round 2.
  21. maybe not- but chances are that his program would have kept a few players off of our record IR performace from last year
  22. There are no ELITE recievers in this draft. Earl Bennett is probably the best option and they won't need to pick him at #11 The 1st round pick needs to be an impact playmaker - not a guy to fill out the #2 WR role
  23. Hey - Bldsoe didn't show up in Buffalo until camp started. He had a rigorpous program in Montana of throwing to neigborhood kids. maybe Trent has the same program
  24. make that HAND, since his other one does not work due to injury why waste a premium pick on an injured guy, who even when healthy does not justify the #11 draft spot.
  25. There should not be a problem with off season attendance. All of these prima donna players should be living full time in the city where they are empoloyed on a full time basis. If Jim Kelly, Hall of Fame QB can live in Buffalo year round, then there is no excuse for the rest of these guys to commit the the local area.
