  1. What they gave up was the value they needed to get into the 1st round. After those trades fell apart, they basicaly just kept the same deal parameters in place although they were not moving up as far.
  2. The problem with doing stupid trades is not the bad press It is the precedent it sets for future trades. Teams will hold out to screw the Bills based on their prior history of not valyiing draft picks very highly. The Bills are already going down this path as they have significantly overpaid according to the trade chart for moving up the last 2 years
  3. They have done it the last 2 years -- sorry that is too hard for you to follow
  4. Fortunately for Bills, those top picks get 6-7 year contracts
  5. and a big reason why the team had so many holes to fill immediately is that the front office voluntarily created many of those holes by trading or cutting veteran players. Specifically the Bills forced themselves to take a RB and LB at the top of the last draft becasue they cut loose starters for less than full value BEFORE the draft. The year before they did the same thing with the defenseive backfield and forced themselves to turn down trade offers because they were forced to take Whitner since they had no options. Look for them to be in the same boat this year at WR and QB if they trade Losman for a box of rocks as most posters want.
  6. don't worry. The Bills will panic and severely overpay to move back into the 1st round to reach for one of the overrated WR "studs" No matter that Bennet or Nelson will still be there when they would have picked.
  7. While all that may be true (and I don't think he will ever be a good NFL starter)), it is stupid to trade Losman now for low picks when the Bills have zero chance of improving on him as their backup. They already have 10 picks. Adding a 4th or 5th rounder will gain them border line training camp fodder - AND create a huge hole which they have no way to fill. Trading JP would put them back on the treadmill to nowhere.
  8. His sacks alone won't be the true measuring stick. Harvey's biggest attribute is his very quick first step. This will allow him to penetrate the pocket by splitting gaps and forcing OL to change their assignments thus freeing up other players to do more damage.
  9. you might as well add this to your quote collection "trading Losman for less than a high #2 puts the Bills back on the treadmill to nowhere"
  10. Stupid for Bills to trade Losman. if traded, who is the backup QB? not going to happen.
  11. but the masses want to select an injured WR - either of which have not shown to be elite players at a position notorious for producing first round busts. Maybe Rivers will be available - his risk is probably lower.
  12. Thurman Thomas reaching behind and grabbing the ball one handed then pinning the ball against his helmet- I think against Miami in playoffs.
  13. Probably about the same expectation for WRs drafted in the 1st round. Expect WRs with pre-exsiting injuries to bust even more often - no matter how tall they are.
  14. maybe were you watching South Florida football. For most of Harvery's UF career except his senior season, the Gators defense has been one of the best in the country. Ask Ohio State how good they were. Last year, with a big drop off in talent due to the NFL draft, Harvey was their best defensive player.
  15. Jordy Nelson and Earl Bennett would be better options in round 2. Being tall does not alone make a good WR. Marvin harrison has been a great red zone target for years and stands no taller than 6'.
  16. don't worry posters are confident are medical staff will perform miracles on those knees and quad so he will run faster than Deion ever did. (note- our medical staff is good - it's posters that are the problem in ignoring very real injury problems just because the guy is tall)
  17. Maybe the Bills medical staff is confident they can work miracles with his legs. However, the fact remains that Kelly has 2 knee injuries and a pretty serious muscld tears in his leg. he is medically damaged. He may play effectively for a while - but due to those medical problems, he has a bigger risk of producing less due to nagging or chronic problems from those injuries. Since he is not a once in a lifetime talent, it is silly to waste the #11 pick on such a risk when there are other healthy alternataives.
  18. Harvey played at a very high level for a team that played in the SEC on a weekly basis and won the national Championship. Flowers was a nobody from nowhere who was John Butler's parting gift to Ralph Wilson
  19. Bu, but, but - he's tall, really really tall. That's all that matters for a #2 WR - isn't it? taller the better- this boy will be in the Hall of Fame - since they don't get much taller On the plus side, though, is that he has both his knees and wrists actually do work at this time.
  20. Harvey has already bulked up to 277 and is showing he can maintain the speed and quickness.
  21. After giving away JP for nothing (when we have extra picks anyway) who is the backup QB? Stupid move to trade JP for less than a high #2. So he walks next year - we lost out on a 4th rounder ---wow! Would be a typical Bills move, though, to keep an ex-player happy while creating another huge hole on the current roster with no reasonable way to fill it.
  22. Sweed may recover but the smart move is not to waste the #11 pick to find out. There are comparable WRs in the 2nd round like Jordy Nelson and Earl Bennett who are healthy and provide similar production. Bills should draft an impact playmaker on D at #11 like Harvey or Rivers.
  23. so he has a quad tear AND bad knees. he is so healthy and recovered he still can't run. sounds like the Bills may have to trade up into the top 10 to get this can't miss stud
  24. what don't you understand? Rivers is a stud who just blew out his pro day and is light years ahead of anyone in our LB corp But we have a bigger need for a broken WR to challenge for WR#2. We are riding the treadmill to nowhere and you can't get off.
  25. The Bills desparately need playmakers on the defense - including LB. Whoever they take at #11 should fit this description. Right now they have a serviceable group of LBs, but no real playmakers. Mitchell raises the OLB play to NFl caliber but not much more than that. POZ will be solid but he is not dominant either. Crowell has piled up good stats because of the weak players at teh otehr LB positions, not because he is exceptional. Crowell
