  1. How long until Ron Rivera is fired? 2 years, 3 years, more? If more, that is quite stable for the Snyder era Redskins.
  2. Concur, it will be interesting. IMO, they need to get rid of Foles (i.e. get as much possible for him) and go with Gardner Minshew. I'm not convinced that Foles is anything special away from Doug Pederson. Sounds like his old school ways don't sit well with today's players.
  3. I believe the Rooney Rule applies to grossly obese individuals as well as minorities.
  4. Looks like Jax has retained GM Dave Caldwell and HC Doug Marone. Shad Khan will just spend time on his super yacht, what does he care
  5. Don't let that go to your head, Gary.
  6. This will be close and not high scoring. Buffalo 17 Oilers 13
  7. Great post. Well thought out and I can't argue with your points. I'll address the bolded parts; As far as third and short, dialing up long passes; I recall this happened in a couple of different games throughout the season. It's not as prevalent as say, running Gore around the tackle for a loss, but it really just serves as an example of how Daboll tends to outsmart himself. The second bolded part regarding TT leaving plays on the field is a great point. Both QBs do this, though I suspect for slightly different reasons. Both TT and Josh seem to see the part of the field that is in front of them. TT, for whatever reason, will never be able to fix this, I think it is a shortcoming of his. Josh, I hope and believe, is missing the whole field because he is nervous and inexperienced. His vision should widen as he gets more game experience. You're right, the narrative isn't any different in either situation. Also, true, I'm sure there are many occasions where the players didn't execute. I don't have problems with Daboll's offense or his playbook, I have problems with some of the situations when he calls some of the plays he does; it can be absolutely maddening. Daboll, from what I can see, is trying to make Josh more of a game manager, rather than allowing Josh to be who he is...a gunslinger. Not comparing Josh to Tom Brady, but Daboll's offense is more geared to a mature QB, such as Brady. Josh isn't ready to make the type of reads he needs to make, especially as to how they pertain to the WRs. A big part of the E-P offense is the QB and WR being on the same page based on what the defender is doing and timing. Josh isn't ready for that, nor are the WRs...most of whom are in the first year in this offense. Earlier this season, I wouldn't have liked this idea, but Josh should be allowed to roll out, throw on the run, and take off running more than he is. This is who he is right now; it can (and probably will) change in the future, but for now he is not a pocket passer first; plus he seems to be more accurate throwing on the run. Josh is a dual threat and athletic QB, use it. What would happen if the Ravens and John Harbaugh and Greg Roman insisted on confining Lamar Jackson to the pocket? Nothing good. The Ravens have an explosive offense that is hard to stop with the offense catered toward Lamar's natural abilities, with a HC who understands this. Our offense could be a lot better than what it is; some of the problems are execution and a portion are play calling and opponent scheme. Some of this could be McD (who really needs to understand the offense better than he does), and I wouldn't be surprised as he is by nature a conservative coach -- which is something he needs to outgrow, but I digress. I'm all for a good defense and I think that is the most important thing a team can have. But just because you have a good defense and want to lean on that, doesn't mean your offense should be anemic. Make no mistake, our offense is anemic. If your defense, for whatever reason, can't stop the opposing offense, blowouts occur; we've seen that once this year and numerous time the previous two years. To sum it up, I think Daboll is married to his scheme as he thinks it should be; the weather, opposing team, our team's experience and abilities, do not seem to be a factor in his play calling. That is why I don't think Daboll should be calling plays. If he returns as the OC, fine, but I don't want him calling plays...he is not good at it. Josh, right now anyway, needs to be more Brett Favre and less Tom Brady; it's who he is.
  8. Really? You missed the multiple calls where Josh overshot his WRs by 5+ yards? That happened on more than one occasion, including 3rd and short. It happened with Tyrod, too. I have to believe that Daboll is telling Josh to let the receivers run to the ball rather than trying to be near perfect with the pass. I'm with those who believe Daboll is holding Josh back.
  9. Yes, the world would be a better place if more people had ranch with their wings.
  10. It's delicious. Jesus would like ranch on wings, too.
  11. That would suck, but I would have to believe that is highly unlikely; not impossible, but unlikely. I'd take my chances with giving Shaq a raise, moving on from Murphy, and getting another DE in free agency.
  12. They would really degrade the defensive line if this happens. Have to re-sign Shaq; it was a "prove it" year for Shaq and he proved it. Shaq was our best DE this year, Murphy was the worst.
  13. You all can't just marinate wings in hot sauce, throw them on the grill, then dunk in ranch dressing? Shouldn't be too hard, I can even do that and I suck at cooking.
  14. Picture should really be of Jaba the Hut. If Daboll leaves, I'll really miss the 3rd and short situations where he dials up a 30 yard pass with a QB that overthrows the receiver by 5+ yards.
  15. Right on. I hope Daboll goes to Cleveland. If not Cleveland, then Carolina.
  16. If Riverboat Ron was smart, that is exactly how the contract language should be written -- no interference by Dan The Fan.
  17. Could it be the players don't execute them better is because screens aren't stressed or practiced during the week? NE looks like they practice their bubble screens every day for three hours (I exaggerate), that is how effective they are. There are four to five guys in front blocking for the back or receiver who get the screen and the play typically goes for 10+ yards. I have no idea what is not appealing about that where Daboll can't make it a staple of the offense. The McKenzie jet sweep is fine, but we really are a one trick pony.
  18. I like Knox and Sweeney; lots of promise with those two. Kroft I wouldn't mind keeping if there isn't a bubble type player, such as Duke, that could play instead. Not saying Duke is better than Kroft, just that Kroft's penchant for being injured diminishes his value. Not sure I see the need to keep Lee Smith.
  19. I don't think Daboll cost us the division. I do think he made things harder than need be with his odd play calling and largely omitting higher percentage plays such as screens. It's like Daboll is on a mission to prove he can outsmart everyone else; yet the only person he outsmarts is himself.
  20. They'll beat Tennessee but will lose in KC. Any way, this isn't a Pats team that will go to the SB.
  21. LOL. Very creative, I like that analogy.
  22. 10-6 is a good record and the Bills are in the playoffs. It is a whole new season now and the Bills have a chance of advancing in the playoffs for the first time in forever. Though this is not a very complete team, they're done much better on the road than at home in the regular season; hopefully this continues.
  23. I would have though Cleveland would give Kitchens more than one year. I guess that is why Cleveland is what they are.
  24. Baltimore 24 SF 10
  25. And Pitt hasn't figured out how to beat them. A team like the Steelers should have a better record than 3-11 since the 2007 season, which is Tomlin's first year as HC.
