  1. My post wasn't clearly worded, something I need to keep in mind. Second paragraph is very true. We should ALL hope that better skill position talent leads to fewer DiMarco (and whoever else) cute/gimmick plays. I really believe these cute/gimmick (to the point of being dumb) are all Daboll. McD doesn't seem like the type of coach that would come up with that himself, even if he knew offense. For example, I honestly believe John Harbaugh reigned in Greg Roman and told him how the offense should look like and what he wants to see regarding Lamar Jackson. As a HC, McD needs to get to that point so he can tell Daboll what the offense should look like (i.e. identity); McD is no where close to being able to do this. So it is going to come down to Josh Allen's development in conjunction with better talent to make the offense more viable. Maybe that's the plan, though the stupid cutesie plays need to go away...McD can at least do that.
  2. I was separating DiMarco on offense and DiMarco on SpT. DiMarco may be fine on SpT, but he shouldn't even get the one or two chances for Daboll to get too cute, that is my point; though you rephrased it. I don't think I am being disingenuous at all when implying that DiMarco shouldn't be on offense, hence the WR comment.
  3. If lining DiMarco up as a wide out and sending him on routes 20 or 30 yards down field to act as a WR is value...I'm at a loss as to what value is.
  4. What if they actually want to return to school and earn a degree? I mean, most athletes aren't there for the education, but maybe they are.
  5. Right. Garrett as OC could end up being a much better move for NYG than trying to poach Daboll.
  6. I don't think it is a good idea for Poyer to hold out. If he does, McD plays Jaquan Johnson, and if Johnson is as good as McD thinks/hopes Poyer will get traded or not re-resigned in 2021. The only way a hold out would work in Poyer's favor, is if Jaquan Johnson sucks.
  7. I think Beane extends Poyer. I don't think McD wants to break up the safety duo of Poyer and Hyde.
  8. This link has all (I think) of the Dennis Hopper Nike commercials. My favorite in Nike Commercial #2 with Sterling Sharpe...chu chu, man, chu chu. Too bad we don't see these type of commercials any longer, they were...entertaining. https://www.thebiglead.com/2014/11/27/tbt-thanksgiving-edition-bad-things-man/
  9. You both could be right, that McD wanted Daboll to roll out and have Josh run the full offense, in which case they had to have known scoring production would suffer. Maybe they were ok with it and it played into "the process" where Josh learns in a trial by fire manner. I guess it depends on your view of learning and growing to say if this was a good idea or not. I personally don't think so, but I'm just a fan. Next year has to be, and should be, better offensively. I am concerned about the blocking scheme, especially on passing plays; the protection broke down easily too often. That needs to be fixed, either by personnel or scheme adjustment. John Brown made a comment earlier this season that this is the most complex offense he has been in. I haven't heard any of the other veterans comment about it, but I would think there is at least some truth to it. The passing plays appeared to take a while to develop and/or Josh wasn't trusting or understanding what he was seeing.
  10. Yep, starting with the o-line so the kid doesn't get killed. Any position on the line that is questionable should be upgraded. Also, I doubt Cincy lets AJ Green go, they have a vet WR1 who will be a friendly target for a rookie QB.
  11. Agree that a complex offense makes it harder on the opposing defense to defend due to the amount of options that the offense has in its attack arsenal. But, you have to be able to execute the complex offense, which was part of the problem this year. I suspect it was too complex for Josh and nine other guys who were new to the team and system. Daboll might have been more successful this year if he took a step back from what he ultimately wanted to do and and ran the offense in logical progressions, rather than what appeared to be everything at once.
  12. No doubt those in the league know much more than the casual fan. But there is also a lot of cronyism and group think that goes on, as well. That is inherent to any organization, not just the NFL. If Daboll was so valuable, why didn't Carolina even bother to interview him? There was a lot of talk, but no interview. Cleveland was the only interview he got, nothing else.
  13. Last I checked this is a Bills fan forum; we discuss the Bills here, that is what this site is about. You may not agree with what other posters have to say, fine. Either have a conversation or make your statement and move on. Don't tell others how they should feel/think based off record, coaches, GM, inside knowledge or not, or anything else you can think of.
  14. I'm not saying the players failed to execute on some of the plays. I agree with your last sentence, as well. My problem is that Daboll rolled out an offense that cannot effective be run with a rookie or second year QB, combined with almost a completely new group of players. Start off simple and let the team grow into the offense; also let Josh be Josh, make the offense friendlier to his strengths, not what Tom Brady would do. It appears that Daboll threw too much at Josh too soon, and made him into something he's not. John Brown made comments earlier this season that this is the most complex offense he has been a part of. So some of it is execution, though I think more is Daboll taking too much of an academic view of the offense.
  15. If you don't fire him, at least bring in someone else to call plays and make the offensive game plans. If this doesn't happen, are there smarter people making these decisions?
  16. And his play calling was great this year, right? The offense scored more than enough points, right? Some people settle for garbage, while others want more. Yeah, that's a good thought. I recall seeing posts mentioning the position coach/coordinator would ask his current team to block the requests so it doesn't reflect poorly on him for future positions.
  17. I would guess it is the Patriot and Belichick connection
  18. I read an article about Aaron Hernandez a couple of years back that mentioned he was gay in high school, which wouldn't have gone over well with his father had it been known. Apparently his father was pretty tough on Aaron. Was any of this mentioned?
  19. Why couldn't Daboll have been allowed to interview for the position? Good way to get rid of his bearded bowling ball head without having to fire him.
  20. Drugs, domestic violence, and random lewd behavior.
  21. There were pretty pissed about Beane leaving, who was supposed to take over from Dave Gettleman. Other than that, a number of players, who in hindsight we actually did them a favor such as Benjamin. Don't think they miss Star, either. McD likes his Carolina connection, and I'm not the only one who has pointed this out. It has been mentioned in articles over the past year or so.
  22. I'm sure that is of no consolation to Panther fans. It just shows that someone rarely looks at the 30 other NFL teams for resources, because of the connection.
  23. Now we know how the Carolina Panthers must feel.
  24. FA priorities: DE/edge DT - 1-tech especially (McD greatly underestimated the importance of the D-line, as evidenced by the run stopping problems) OL - RT mostly RB - though I think the offense skill positions come through the draft
