McDermott will have this team ready, but not because it is against Marrone. Only a handful of guys were on the team in 2014. I doubt the guys who were not on the team care about the history aspect of it.

Love reading these posts, Shaw. Great job. It doesn't make sense to keep Tyrod and Dennison together; it appears that the offense that Dennison wants to run and the type of QB that Tyrod is are completely incompatible. I think it is keep one or the other. I wouldn't mind seeing both switched out, especially if we can get some trade value for Tyrod and if we could land a vet like Alex Smith. Agree that it probably isn't a good idea to give away a lot of draft capital to trade up to the top five picks for a QB, but I do think we need to draft one in the first round if one falls to us. Preston Brown is worth keeping around, if not just for depth. I suspect McDermott will want to upgrade that position and try his best to find his version Luke Keuchly. Miami has been a middle of the pack team for a long time. I think most of the younger fans are not as dedicated to the team as the older crowd from the Shula days, who like Shula, are getting older. Could be the reason for the Dolphins sparse attendance.

That is an interesting thought - O'Brien back to NE. I thought I also saw somewhere that O'Brien may be considered for the Giants job and McDaniels stays in NE, since speculation is BB will leave at some point and McDaniels takes over as Pats HC. But that could obviously be wrong. I have to believe that there is at least some rift between Belichick and Kraft over Brady not getting traded. Agreed that Houston is making a mistake by letting O'Brien go. Looks like Hue Jackson stays in Cleveland, but it's Cleveland, so you never know.

I think the defense has really outperformed given the personnel they had to work with. There will be needed retooling this offseason, so I'm fine with not making any coaching changes on the defense.

DLine will no doubt get addressed in the offseason since the pass rush is basically missing. Need a DT or two and another DE. That unit needs to be beefed up and, IMO, we're lucky to be where we are with them. Hughes is fast and can get around the opposing OT, but he has had several whiffs on sacks. I realize I may be asking a lot given the surrounding cast, but Hughes is the best DE we have, he needs to wrap up the tackles/sacks.

We're winning despite Dennison, not because of him. Imagine how much better the offense would be if we had and OC that would actually utilize the strengths of the players? Regardless of what you think of Tyrod as a QB.
