I thought the Rooney Rule is misguided (though well meaning) because it is nothing more than a box to check where some minority coaching candidates don't even want to be interviewed since it is a waste of their time. This takes things a step too far as it demeans minority candidates and creates an uneven playing field; each candidate should be considered on his abilities, and nothing else.

I voted top ten, but he may be a little lower than top 10 most likely; probably in top 15. Josh has the competitive drive and heart to be a leader, as well as one of the better league QBs in the next few years. I think we throw the word 'elite' around here too much and that builds expectations more than they should be. I would ultimately like to see Josh be the modern John Elway.

This is a valid point. Sean Payton seems to be doing more whining as of late.

Tomlin was fined $100k for trying to trip Jacoby Jones during the Thanksgiving night game several years back. He probably should have been suspended, as well, but wasn't. I don't think an unsportsmanlike penalty was even called on him during the game like it should have been. He did get off easy, much like the Patriots do.

I vaguely remember this, though recall it was a helmet to helmet hit of some degree. It occurred going on 10 years ago so I doubt the NFL will do anything about it.

Totally agree. This is the problem with McDermott right now. He doesn't put the opposing team away when he has them beat, rather he lets them hang around. If the Houston Texan game didn't ring a bell, nothing will.

McD may want to win, but can he develop the gameday tactics to win consistently, especially against playoff caliber teams? The week 16 game vs NE and the WC game vs Texans both say no, not right now. Like this team, McD and his staff are all works in process. How will it turn out? Well, as long as this season (assuming it is played) is a positive step forward from last season, then there is reason for optimism. It's not just the players who need to get better, it is McD and his staff that need to show the kind of winning fire that Michael Jordan did; right now I'm not sure they have that kind of leadership, at least not on the coaching staff, as McD is too low key and conservative. There needs to be a get-in-your-face kind of guy who challenges others among the players; probably the closest we have to that right now is Micah Hyde and that may be a stretch. I don't think McD is that kind of coach; rather I suspect he tells the guys what he wants to see from them and lets the leaders emerge. Most of the team is young, and some of the young guys need to step into this role; i.e. Josh, Edmunds, someone else. Time for the young guys to start stepping up. Disagree. Why couldn't Hughes fill this role? Murphy is just a FA pickup who isn't dominant on a consistent basis and is overpaid. He'll rack up a bunch of stats against a favorable matchup, then get overpowered and pushed out of plays the next week. Plus he is terrible against the run and screen plays as he is undisciplined in setting the edge.

I agree that we are capable of being the #1 defense. Need to get more out of the d-line for that to happen. Hope the FA acquisitions and drafting of Epenesa gets us there.

Ravens should have lost to us head to head? Well they didn't. We did a good job containing Lamar, but ultimately couldn't pull it out, and that is what matters...like it or not. The Bills should have beat the Texans in the playoffs, but they didn't because the offense sucked and the defense collapsed. The Ravens never played any of the NFCS teams in 2019. They played the NFCW and AFCE. They played a harder schedule and their record was better than ours, this cannot be argued. It's not discounting the Bills, but admitting that the product is not finished. This is not a Super Bowl level team, yet. Obviously the offense needs to come together as there are a few areas of concern there. The defense needs to produce as far as takeaways, QB sacks, QB pressures, and consistent run stopping; none of these consistently occurred last year. We relied on the secondary/pass defense which lead to this defense as being a strong bend-but-don't-break defense. They allow teams to move the ball between the 20s but do a fairly good job at keeping them out of the endzone. They need to put fear in the opposing QB; I believe the opposition respects them, but does not fear them - big difference. It actually is you being a homer, with all due respect. We were not the #1 defense. Depending on where you look, it is SF or NE (hate to admit that).

Steelers defense made significant strides compared to previous years, but still not to the level of the Raven's defense. I think you're discounting just how good the Ravens were last year.

Here is a scenario: Let's say the Bills go 9-7 and sneak into the playoffs as a WC team, then lose in the WC round. Further, the Patriots won the division and we didn't beat them during the regular season. This is a possible situation. What should happen? What would you do?

Trying to save lives is obviously good. He has to weigh that, and common sense measures which can be taken, versus destroying the economy and setting everyone else's life back economically and mental health wise. Sports is just a secondary factor in this larger equation.

Ravens played the AFCW (Chiefs) and NFCW and beat all the NFCW teams while losing to the Chiefs. Their 2019 schedule was much tougher than ours. I do think we improved via FA and draft. Just have to translate that to the field.

It would have to be Baltimore's defense, easily. We should not be too far behind in AFC defensive rankings.

Bills winning the AFCE should be expected. If they do not win the AFCE, it will be an underperformance and various aspects of the organization need to be looked at closely.
