  1. Kevin Johnson could make an impact. As a former first round pick who has been limited by injuries, he may finally be healthy enough to show what he can do. Early reports out of camp have been positive as well.
  2. We've had our Tyrod Taylor running QB experience, which influences a lot of the negative opinions about Lamar on this board. I think Lamar is a better running QB than Tyrod, but is still a running QB, which NFL defenses will defend by making the Lamar be a quarterback. Baltimore is doing everything they can to tailor their offence to a high-level running offence and Roman is a great fit as OC to achieve this. In the long run, I think Lamar holds Baltimore back, but we will see. They have been a very well run and coached franchise, so it will be interesting to see how this plays out.
  3. I did the same for Josh Allen's girlfriend. It's important that your franchise QB brings some eye candy to the team.
  4. I watch until the bitter end every time. There haven't been many years in the past 20 years where wins and losses affected anything more than our draft position, so I've been pretty calm on Sunday's watching more for team/player development than wins and losses. This year feels different as we are focused on competing for a playoff spot so every game will have more intensity for me. I'm already pumped for Week 1 against the Jets which is a game that has significant playoff implications. The Jets have a tough start to the season and we are the early winnable match for them. A Bill's win could trigger an early meltdown in Gotham. The Bills schedule finishes much tougher than it begins, so we need to pile up wins early in the season.
  5. I like using the no-huddle opportunistically to: Prevent defensive substitutions when there is a personnel miss-match in our favor When a reviewable play has gone our way - to minimize time for opponents review We are losing and a few more plays are in our best interest Random Moments - to catch the defense flat-footed or in the middle of a substitution (I hate it when every play starts with one second on the play clock - the defense can time the snap too easily) The opportunistic no-huddle has much more value to me than always running the no-huddle. I hate complementing the Pats*, but they do this well.
  6. Jets have definitely upgraded the middle of their defense, so we will need to attack them along the sidelines to move the ball. Week 1 will have a major impact on the playoff chances for both teams, because there is realistically only room for one of these teams in the playoffs.
  7. After last year's fiasco in the Jets game, I will never belittle the special teamers again... they are people too.
  8. Having a clear #1 at QB lets you make more progress in the offseason than we could a year ago. I hope we can nail down the starting five O-linemen ASAP.
  9. ... except a strip sack, where a fumble is caused by a tackle on the QB behind the line of scrimmage, can lead to a turnover and still counts a sack statistically. I agree with the essence of your point that QB pressure leads to several good outcomes for the defense and sacks are not the only benefit of getting at (or near) the QB.
  10. From the Duke videos I’ve seen, he doesn’t get great separation but he tracks the ball very well to adjust his route to the ball and has a great catch radius as he can high point the ball with perfectly timed jumps and has great hands outside the frame of his body. I think brings a skill set unique from the other receivers, but may not be the perfect match with Allen who has been more comfortable with “college-open” receivers. I like Williams as a red zone threat.
  11. I feel this way too. When I first started watching football (before becoming a Bill's fan), Favre was my favorite player. He had this child-like enthusiasm for the game and deep rooted desire to win. I see the same traits in Josh and couldn't be happier to have him as our QB.
  12. This is really shaping up to be an offense that can hit you at every level. 1. Deep Throws We all know how dangerous Josh's arm was with Foster as the deep threat last year. Add a speedier speedster with better route running in Brown and our deep game has to be respected. 2. Underneath Throws This was not a strength last year, but I believe will be a point of emphasis through the off-season Adding Beasley who can gain separation underneath from the slot, Josh has a safety valve 3. Running Game Our RB running game was non-existent last year With the improvements on the offensive line, our running game has to be better I think Gore is the short-yardage and goal-line RB and will do a great job Does Shady re-emerge with running lanes and two safeties forced to play deep? 4. QB Scramble Josh runs like Adrian Peterson I don't want to see a lot of designed QB runs - just enough to force the defense to prepare for one more look Josh's best runs came when the play broke down and Josh took the yards that were available In summary, the defenses that we face need two safeties to defend the big play, leaving 7 in the box to defend against the run, short routes by the TE and slot receiver and devote a spy to allen who can break a big run if nothing is open. With Josh's arm and WR speed, the defense has to defend the entire field. This will be an offense built upon taking whatever the defense gives us, because they can't defend everything. For the pessimists out there (i know you get uncomfortable when sleep through the night), there are some elements to Josh's game to need to develop... 1. Diagnosing the Defense Taking what the Defense gives means that you have to know what you're being given Pre and Post-snap reads will be critical 2. Red Zone Offense The windows get tighter, so Josh need to throw with anticipation and fit the ball into smaller windows Overall I'm more excited about Bill's football than I have been in 20 years. Let's just start the season already.
  13. I love the culture in Buffalo right now. In response to media feedback that he may be the best cornerback in the game, Tre responds with a focus on taking his game up to the next level. This drive to be better every day is permeating through the entire team. In Rex's days, players were told that they were great before they were, so the desire to improve wasn't there. I remember Watkins being referred to as the shiny Ferrari in the garage. I don't think Sammy is any better today than in his first game out of college. This is the value of culture.
  14. I don't know why you're surprised. Our defense couldn't stop the league's worst offense in the two-minute drill on the first media day of OTA's. We're doomed!!! In other news, our offence scored a TD by gaining 70 yards and scoring a TD in 1:45 against the number #2 defense. Superbowl!!!!
  15. Are we allowed to say nice things about Whaley any more? That was the best trade in favor of the Bills - it was an absolute steal!
  16. Brett Favre has an unbreakable record for most career interceptions and I'm sure we'd be happy if Josh matched Favre's career.
  17. Tyrod is what you want when you care about completion percentage and QBR more than every other stat. People who look at stats more than football think he’s capable. Josh is what you want when you care about first downs and winning more than any other stat. People who watch football more than stats think he’s capable with a chance to be really special.
  18. I think it’s Brown, Beasley, Foster, Jones and Williams with Roberts as the return guy.
  19. My Pre-OTA prediction is that Duke Williams makes the roster and Sills needs a year to grow on the practice squad.
  20. The precedent has already been set that any video showing New England Patriot Rub Plays will be non-reviewable.
  21. This rule change will make it harder to cheat by committing offensive pass interference on every play, knowing that it won't be called on every play.
  22. This is when we get to see our first glimpses of the unknown players, who we haven't seen in an NFL game before. Last year was all about Allen - remember the video with the sound of the ball flying through the air? This year we don't have that one guy that everyone wants to see. Here are my thoughts heading into OTA's Since OTA's are non-contact, our top two rookies (Oliver and Ford) will have a hard time making headlines. Singletary and Christian Wade will be fun to watch. They are both shifty and elusive and should break some plays in the flag football world of OTA's How soon can Allen build chemistry with Brown and Beasley? Can Duke Williams and David Sills V make enough plays to crack the roster or even the practice squad? What are the Offensive line combinations to open camp? There are so many possibilities, it will be nice to see where the coaches start them. One step closer to real football.
  23. I never liked the way Prisco criticized our team, but unfortunately, he was usually right about our team being uncompetitive. (He didn’t say it as nicely as that) Like most of us here, he sees capable GM building a winning roster with a franchise QB and a capable coach.
