America isn't exceptional to Obama, but he himself is...
Peace replied to 1billsfan's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Your pettiness is a lot of what's wrong with the political process. He made a quick retort, and a fairly funny one. It wasn't belittling any of our current problems unless you just want to read much more into it than was said. I suppose it's better if the president walks around in a black robe wearing a crown of thorns until all 300+million Americans are happy. The woman gave him an over-the-top shout out--he shared a funny moment with her. It was nothing more. I don't think Obama has been running around saying that he's happy about 10% unemployment. You're reading way too much into it. -

Nose pick! Come on people. The guy made a quick off the cuff remark. God forbid the guy have a sense of humor. -
New Iphone can do everything but make phone calls

Having the capability and doing it in a way that anyone cares to use are different things. The iPhone and Android OSes are a pleasure to use. I'd rather cut my eyes out than use a brick-berry. -
Joe Paterno has a solution to violent hits...

For the NFL, it doesn't matter. There will not be any meaningful change because we're all paying to see something as close to a fight to the death as possible. The game needs to change substantially for kids as of yesterday. -

Indeed. RIM falls behind Apple and the 3% gap is growing. (And that's worldwide.) http://theappleblog.com/2010/10/22/apple-passes-rim-in-global-smartphone-share/ RIM needs a savior but one is not coming. Once the iPhone goes to Verizon in 2011, RIM will be in a brown out. They suffer from not realizing anywhere soon enough that the Android/iPhone models are what people want. Simply making a phone with email capabilities is an old goal. Most people want portable communication/Web/Entertainment systems. RIM will get bought and down-sized into someone else before long. They have their legacy loyalists. -

If you remove the helmet, you sell a whole other thing: The individual player, who you can now see. If the logo was that amazing of a marketing tool, it would be on hockey helmets. It's a "thing" but it's not that big of a thing. If you just remove the facemask or use the "leather" like helmet, you still have the logo. A 2011 lockout year would be a nice time to play with these ideas. -

And let me guess your solution: More tax code revisions? -

Wow that guy Briloff is a douche. People paid Google and therefore Google is evil to try to avoid paying the government its profit. I'm not brushed up on my Atlas Shrugged characters but Briloff is straight from Rand's paranoid imagination. -
Ngata expected to be drafted by the Bills

Raiders. Lions. Bills in at #3. Did you start this thread as an assassination attempt on poor Bill in NYC? -
I think Charlie rightfully looked at it like a must win game. Oswalt was going to pitch more than an inning if it kept going. Throwing just that inning though won't jeopardize his Saturday start if they win tonight. Not sure it matters. The tide of this series is all in favor of SF. There is not one aspect of the game that the Phils are playing better than the Giants.

Fair point. I now give her credit for not being smart enough to cover up her crazy. -
I don't see anything wrong with him being honest like that. We all confront our own biases in life. I have biases I'm not proud of too. If I am on a plane as he described, I'm not freaking out--but I am more alert. That's a sad state but it's true. If I'm walking down an alley and three 18 year olds in baggy pants step out in front of me, I'm on alert more than if 3 guys in suits step out.

You don't get it. Patty Murray/Christine O'Donnell: We all lose. Christine O'Donnell made those statements. It's great that you're happy voting for her because you think every other pol has 15 or so similar nightmares. I doubt it though. Maybe a few think that "Evolution is a myth" like her and guess what: They are all nucking futs. As are the "why aren't we seeing monkeys evolve" crowd and as are the "masturbation is evil" nuts. She is a lunatic. That you're her supporter is pretty messed up. If she was intelligent enough to hide behind ID, maybe I'd give her a little slack. She talks about teaching straight out Creationism. Cuckoo for Cuckoo Puffs. -

Opposes abortion even in cases of rape or incest She favors teaching creationism over evolution she uses campaign funds to pay for half her townhouse (because she uses it as an office)...this after defaulting on her mortgage and selling it to her campaign manager She is flat-broke and not working for a living except off campaign donations "It is not enough to be abstinent with other people, you also have to be be abstinent alone. The Bible says that lust in your heart is committing adultery, so you can't masturbate without lust." "You can't masturbate without lust." / "I'm a young woman in my thirties and I remain chaste." -1996...though she now backs off that lunacy. "American scientific companies are cross-breeding humans and animals and coming up with mice with fully functioning human brains." 2007...sounds like a joke but she's so mental who knows "We took the Bible and prayer out of public schools. Now we're having weekly shootings. We had the 60s sexual revolution, and now people are dying of AIDS." "You know what, evolution is a myth." / "Why aren't monkeys still evolving into humans?" 1998 "During the primary, I heard the audible voice of God. He said, 'Credibility.'" -

Yup. No matter who wins that race, we all lose. One candidate is a rank and file Dem. The other is a complete effin' loon. I would pull an empty lever if I lived in DE and those were my only choices. -
Before the post-season started, I said that there was no way the Phils lost a 7 game series because there was no way H2O lose 3 games in a 7 game series...thanks for pushing my prediction to the brink Phils! Wacka looks to be right: His Giants look ready to advance. The networks must be suicidal looking at a Giants vs. Rangers WS. I wonder if it will bottom out as the least popular WS ever.

You think I'm going to read an article that starts like that, from an insane fringe website? You're lucky I read the first paragraph. I treat conner's sources the same way. I just pointed out that you can't be surprised when people don't take you seriously if you link to websites like that. And I pointed it out because you did it two days in a row.
-
So you read the Guardian daily in search of the underlying validity? Of course you don't. When you/conner/pbills parrot fringe websites, don't expect anyone to take you or the site seriously.
-
The "so what" is that a discerning mind will discount the facts (assuming there are some) when the introductory paragraph reads:

2 days in a row with "redstate.com" as a source? Are you the Bizzarro-world conner?

Stop already. Joe is more fair weather than me. He's been a Yankees fan for 5 years.
