Fundamentalist Christians, especially in groups, scare the beJesus out of me. A more annoying and bullying group you may not encounter.

Time Traveler caught on tape in 1928
Peace replied to DrDawkinstein's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Really? So the conclusion some arrived at is "cell phone" instead of, oh, I don't know...adjusting her scarf, earring, collar, hair, hat, covering a pimple. DrD: Device? What device? There's no device in the footage. And I hope if we've gotten to time travel in the future, we don't have to hold a block to our ear to communicate...seems like hands free would have advanced further. I can't believe I posted in this thread. /sucked into idiocy -
I have less of a problem with raising taxes if it's to pay down the debt. In fact, that's a certainty. BUUUUUUT, and it's a big "but," the government should make a pledge that for every dollar taxes are going up, they will cut 2 in spending. That would be a pill I could swallow because it would set up a system where I'd feel assured that the problem (big government spending) was being addressed for the future. Why is that so hard to do?
-
News to me. So I posted that the Democrats and Republicans are spending us into oblivion and you post that Obama gave a dollar a day back to 95% of the population? There's a germ of connection there in that we're both talking about money but otherwise, that's not a sensible exchange.
-
Anyone missing Schoebel yet? The Bills are barely playing 3-4 anymore (as has been documented) and the rest of the personnel are the same. I never gave him his fair due but man do we miss him this season.
-
Right. A one-off is nothing but almost every game is an 8pm start and all the big ones are. On top of that, no little kid has any energy at 10pm with 1.5 hours to go. MLB is a mess.

Josh Reed was a great blocking WR. Evans is OK. Johnson gives an effort. Parrish is not a blocker. His speed is not that useful because he's so easy to tackle. Plus, he's a cinch to chuck at the line so he's got zero deep threat. On top of that, while he's a juke machine, his straight line speed is not that great (or at least sure doesn't translate to anything on the field). The guy is a gimmicky player. He's not that much of an asset but I'm glad the Bills are finding ways to try to get him the ball. He's fine but "playmaker," no.
-
Running behind Heap in the end zone is bad? The funny thing about that: The play by play announcer (not Burlein but the voice) said "That's about as perfect of an NFL play as you'll see." What a horse's ass.
-
Parrish is not a "playmaker." Randy Moss is a "playmaker." Adrian Peterson is a "playmaker." Parrish is a guy who very occasionally makes a play. He had a decent game yesterday but in the last 5 years, he's not given much except as punt returner. The announcers were gobbling his knob yesterday and all I could do was laugh. The guy can't be on the field during a running play because he can't even fake a block. He can't break the slightest arm tackle and he can't help in the red zone. He is a short athletic guy who would be a sensation in touch football. He can be helpful at times. But let's not jump on the Roscoe bandwagon until he does anything consistently.

This argument is stupid. Republicans spend like drunken sailors and say they don't. Democrats admit to spending their asses off but say the money's being spent on rainbows and unicorns. Both are !@#$ing us over.

I do not like Obama but saying that the Dems caused the mess we're in is a crock. The Republicans had their hands on the wheel for a lot of what went wrong to make 2007-2008 happen. And much of 2009-2010 fallout has been because of Republicans. That doesn't excuse the Dems spending their asses off and ignoring fiscal sense, but they are just following what the Reps did. -
"Rules shmules?" Interesting.

Official Bills/Raven's Game day post

YEah...well when you're 3 feet in the air being carried along by 4 guys grabbing at the ball, one of whom is one of the strongest players in the NFL, it's awkward. Not defending him completely but that was not a textbook bad fumble (like Spiller's). -
You can take your helmet off to adjust it. Just can't take it off to celebrate or in frustration.
-
No feet down. No body down. A bizzarre technicality cost them the INT. I was imagining that if you caught the ball at the hash in the air, a strong LB could carry the WR out of bounds for an incomplete. Just a variation of the push-out rule. It was the right call...but strange.

That play was ridiculous. They picked him up in the air, carried him backwards, then the lineman came in and pushed him forwards when the fumble occurred. How can that not have been forward progress? And not reviewed? -

How about the offensive line? That was an inspired day for them. Sure Hangartner messed up with the helmet but the line was VERY good today and Fred JAckson was stellar in blitz pickup. Stellar. -

Not even close to a position of need. A new QB would win the Bills 0 more games. I am fine with the vet. Trade the pick and get ever LB you can find. -
LEtting your 8 year old stay up until midnight on a school night (and most games ARE on school nights)= terrible parenting. Doing it on a weekend is not great. And little kids don't even get to enjoy a game if they are up that late. If you don't see that as an MLB problem and a big part of the reason kids are not into baseball, it's an indicator of your baseball blinders.
-
Not staying up until 11:30 unless their parents are bad. Thanks Captain Obvious. And it's an opinion shared by an overwhelming majority.
-
Yeah. That game ended around 1130. Not many kids can do that. And very few kids would keep any level of excitement that late. Game 7 would have been an 8pm schoolnight start. Giants were awesome. That young team should make a lot of waves for years.
-
Let me get this straight. If the Yankees had won, the East Coast kids get Phils game six at 4pm but won't get to see Yankees game 7 at 8pm. With the Yankees losing, kids don't get to see Phils game 6 because it's an 8pm start. Ever wonder why football is so popular? Besides being a better game, kids get to see lots of the most important games. You can grow up being a fan. MLB: Thinking of the future.

My post was a friendly jab about anyone's idea of open-mindedness at PPP. You are not a reasonable person. Fine. Don't like the joke. But "He flat out doesn't care about the American people." That's the kind of position that ends all dialog because it's so ignorant. And I DON'T LIKE HIM ALMOST AT ALL! -

Pretty sure that your in-forum lectures and intractable positions eliminate you from the category of those having a "fair POV" brother. (Not that you're alone in that BTW.)
