Doesn't feel as bad to be a Phillies fan all of a sudden. At least those were games.

Thanks for the laugh; FU for the image.

I finally saw the entire thing last night. There was no crushing. They had a good reparte and Stewart asked him some straightforward but not tough questions. The "dude" remark looked worse on paper than it came across in the interview as it was directed more to Obama's remark than Obama the pres but whatever. That's a molehill. The interview was good. Obama came across well (And I don't like him) and Stewart came across fantastic--funny, not intimidated (even as Obama leaned into him at one point), quick-witted.
-
I'm a huge fan of the show but also found that moment unfortunate. Obama rolled with it but come on Jon: "Mr. President," especially as your guest. Just a faux pas though--not an insult.
-
Big "if." It will either be Palin (not formidable) or someone else with Palin running Tea Party and splitting the vote to help BO get reelected. Interestingly, I bet Hillary could beat BO in a primary right now. I bet she would run too.
-
What's sad is that Jon Stewart got a better interview than most "real" journalists. Obama hung in just fine but most hosts are pussies because they want a second shot at the president. I doubt Stewart will get any more White House guests for a while.

Touche. That's why I included both measures. Wish we'd gotten more players.

Editing into that will be a nightmare. You are way defensive brother. Almost half of your predictions weren't predictive. That doesn't mean that many of them contributed to a lot of 2nd half uncertainty...and you did a good job gathering facts that contributed to some uncertainty in June-present. Chillax man.

Worth revisiting with 6 weeks or so to go. VFC: 83.15 AT: 14.94 INCY: 16.53 At this point, the monkey picks are up $46, for an even 4.6% increase. We'll see where it heads from there...trailing Magox, if his selloff was permitted, which it was not, by 2 points. In the rules of the game, Magox is up 3.4% and trails the monkey.

1) Census workers will be coming back to the unemployment lines, or dropping out of the labor force.... See More (This wasn't a prediction--just a fact.) 2) Weekly jobless claims numbers have been indicating an anemic private sector labor force.... (This wasn't a prediction--just a fact.) 3) $8000 tax home credit has expired, last months numbers showed a spike in sales, this will drop off dramatically in the next couple months. (This was a prediction that after the $8,000 credit expired, housing sales would go down. Not exactly out on a limb.) 4) Consumer confidence numbers havn't yet reflected the Stock markets plunge. Those numbers will come off some. Yes they have, despite an uptick this month. 5) The uncertainty of European contagion. This wasn't much of a prediction really but this doesn't seem to have had a huge effect. 6) Stimulus package has already peaked and it's artificial effects will show signs of deterioration Q3 and Q4 Not on a limb here but correct. 7) China is beginning to slow down (this could be really bad if they drop off significantly). Not a prediction. 8) Uncertainty over the November elections, and the markets hate uncertainty. This one is wrong (so far). DJIA is up 10% since June. 9) Three voting Federal Reserve members are already suggesting that we raise rates some time soon (which I doubt will happen). This was a tempered prediction but is correct.

Republicans trying to move in the right direction
Peace replied to Peace's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
You're right--I read that as "100B in spending cuts and tax reductions." And I get that the tax reductions increase the deficit (usually). I am NOT happy about that. Still, at least 100B in spending cuts is a step. -
I love the idea of the headline for these stories: "100B in spending cuts." I got psyched to see that. But asshats that they are, it's a combined package of tax cuts and spending cuts that in total equals 100B. Come on Repubilcans, to paraphrase the esteemed Sarah Palin, "Man the [F] up." How about you just do a plain old 100B spending cut? In any event, the idea is a baby step in the right direction and could sway me to vote for the Republican running for Senate in PA, who I dislike immensely. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2010/10/28/gop-poised-big-gains-plan-b-cuts/

I played Fable 2. Man I found it boring. I like an RPG but the action in that game was dull and the RPGing was not RPGing enough. Best RPG I ever played is still Baldur's Gate. Why someone can't recreate that experience is beyond me. The follow-ups were not nearly as well done.
-
It's hard to sometimes separate an honest criticism of the treasury from a sales pitch. It's certainly in Gross's interest to call it a Ponzi scheme. At the same time, he is not far off from wrong.
-
Fable may have been the most boring game I ever played. I kept waiting for it to get interesting...never did. Like Myst but with people.

I suspect buttons are coming--but it's neat to have none at first. I didn't know about "Move." Guess they are all trying to get in on the Wii action. Live play has zero interest for me so I leave that to the rest of you and I have a Blu-ray player...and agree that XBox backed the wrong horse not having it in their console. I am sure the next gen XBox will overcome that. I don't have a preference. I got the XBox 360 way back when because it had Rock Band and that was fun to play with my daughter.
-
XBox also is just about to release Kinect. Like Wii but uses a camera to track all your movements--no special controller.

So, your wife finds out you went to a strip club...
Peace replied to Richmond_Bills's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I'm a guy who has no idea what the appeal is. I like a naked chick or 10 as much as the next guy but hanging out with a bunch of guys with semi- to full-wood and giving money to skanks that hate us is not my idea of a good time. And even if they're attractive, I've never been in a strip club that I didn't find disgusting both in the appearance and the people present. To each his own--I'm not calling for shutting them down. But like casinos, they do little to nothing for me. -
Maybe a little dark for this thread but conner-bashing is getting a bit tired.
-
Setting foot in this cesspool leaves no one above it. You just sink in.

It will be interesting to see what teeth a Republican Congress can pull out of that health care legislation. I'm guessing that their battle over that with Obama waiving the veto around is going to get ugly and though I want the whole thing struck down, the Republicans will probably not do themselves good in the process of attacking it.

Sorry...maybe I should have written, "Next up: 'On having a sense of humor' by OCinBuffalo'"
-
Nothing like a lecture on high and mighty from OCinBuffalo! Next up: DC Tom on humility followed by conner on "seeing both sides of the issue."

Most stones thrown into a crowd won't hit members of groupthink organizations who by and large survive on bullying. Go to a Christian teen youth group if you want to see bullying. Not beat the **** out of kids bullying...but massive make you feel like crap and ostracize you for having the wrong opinion bullying. I'm not high and mighty about Williams. He shouldn't have been fired and while what he said was biased, he was admitting his bias. He didn't say he acted on that bias. He didn't say he was proud of it--in fact, in the context of the interview, he was kind of admitting that it was an unfortunate reaction he had. Maybe you shouldn't be so high and mighty by accusing me of being high and mighty Mr. high and mighty.
