First time I will be rooting for the Patriots. In fact I want Brady and Bilichick to destroy the Jets.

One thing that bothers me about Flacco is do you ever see him call audibles at the line of scrimmage? It seems like he just hits the line of scrimmage and goes with the play called in the huddle. Thats got to be coaching, right? I can't see him being like JP Losman and what the coaching staff restricted what he could do because he could not process the game. -

In perspective they were out of 2 te and 3wr sets and the majority of them were called screen passes and dunk offs to Ray Rice. The Ray rice fumble was a pass for like 2 or 3 yards which is a safe play, as much as a running play is. Not a winning formula against the Steelers. I am talking about spreading their defense out and throwing the ball down field. Totally different. The reason why the Steelers got back in the game in the 3rd quarter was because of turnovers and field position because of those turnovers. Once the fumble occured, they panicked, even though their gameplan never changed throughout the course of the game. -

I am seeing a trend in this playoffs with the losing teams. Brees, Manning, Flacco, Cassel were all Capt'n checkdowns. Ironically Brees and Manning were brutal with just dunking it off for a safe play. Flacco checked it down a lot to Rice for minimal gains. Another flaw in their game plan was implementing a lot of screen passes. They just don't work against their defensive base 3-4 scheme and zone blitzes in general. That's playing into the hand of the Steelers. -

It doesn't mean anything. However, the Bills came close to beating the Steelers because Gailey properly gameplanned for them and realized their weakness on defense. Putting Fitz in shotgun and limiting the zone blitz packages and their elite run defense with 4 and 5 wr sets and not running the ball a lot. The Steelers secondary has shown they can be beat using this scheme. Fitz moved the ball effectively that day. -

Yeah. You can't gameplan around running the ball against the Steelers and using power formations. 4-5 wrs, shotgun and throw, throw, throw. If the Jets win against the Pats, I see them losing to the Steelers. If the Pats beat the Jets, pats will beat the Steelers because of their spread offense. Steelers have been shown to be weak in defending this style of offense all year. -

Here we go with the typical TSW myopic coaching picks now... -

Are you really saying it would be a good move to bring in McNabb to compete with Flacco? LOL! Flacco wasn't the main issue with this game. With the flawed gameplan that was installed, WR's like Bouldain and Houzmanzada made crucial mistakes, with Bouldains in what should have been a sure touchdown. Rice's fumble was also very costly which really turned the momentum to the Steelers. -

Obviously you didn't watch the Buffalo game and many other games vs the steelers this year. -
I agree. The only knock on him I have is that GB/Rodgers has had problems winning close, important games like tonight. He is a baller though. Good game so far tonight.

Flacco didn't play well but I put this game on the coaching staff and how they game planned for the Steelers. Everyone knows this year, you can move the ball EASILY against the Steelers defense by spreading them out with 4 and 5 wr sets and throwing down field. They are suspect at the CB position. Setting up the run in the 2nd half with the passing game and passing a lot. I don't even recall a 4 wr set that they used in this game. You can't win against the Steelers with the power running game and dinking and dunking with Ray Rice. It reflects in the loss and the statistics. -
2nd Best Head Coach in Football?

The hoodie is in a coaching class all of his own. I don't know who I would classify as the the 2nd best head coach but if I really head to choose it would be Sean Payton. -
Let the speculaiton begin - Cam Newton

I wouldn't even take newton in the 2nd round...picked 3rd overall = EPIC FAIL. -
It doesn't take much to see what is going on in Cleveland. Holmgren is setting up his puppet regime and Dicky J is a perfect fit. I am not impressed at all what Holmgren is doing in Cleveland.

comeback player of year
BuffaloBillsForever replied to nuklz2594's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
From the jail cell to possible MVP in the NFL is about as good as a comeback you can make in the NFL. I give him credit and it is well deserved. Comeback player is all about performing after coming face to face with any obstacles be it personal or related to football. -
No doubt there will be people making absurd threads like that. Even if Spiller has a breakout year in year 2, 2 years is still not enough body of work IMO to validate the pick as a success at that point in time. Just like it is not enough to validate the pick as a failure after a rookie campaign in which he was not featured. Year 3 and above will tell the tale.

Dave Wannstedt expected to talk to Bills
BuffaloBillsForever replied to FluffHead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hiring Dave Wannstedt as either the assistant head coach, defensive co-ordinator or a combination of both would be a strong move. I would love for this to happen. This would definitely bring some excitement to these boards. -
Rex is crazy -- like a fox
BuffaloBillsForever replied to VirginiaMike's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Rex is making a mistake calling himself and Billy B out with the me vs him mentality. Dumb move to motivate the hoodie and Brady even more. We all know this fires them up even though publicly they show little emotion. I would love to the cheatriots run up the score on them. This gives the Patriots an ever better edge going into the game. -
I'm not missing the point at all. In fact I agree with most of what is said about drafting in the 1st round. I just find that basing arguments off of players that had one decent game and making absolute statements is diluting the argument. I rather look at the strategy that is being used in the league as the passing game to setup the run game than it being a passing league.
