Another Lee Evans thread......
BuffaloBillsForever replied to Simon's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Where's the agenda? I just disagree with what you are saying. I don't count how many times I have watched their games but if they are on and the Bills are not playing at that exact timeslot I will watch them play. -

The legend of Lee Evans never dies.... It's nice when your defense gets 7 turnovers isn't it? Surely that can't change the dynamic of the game. -
Beating the Raiders
BuffaloBillsForever replied to RevWarRifleman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
1) Stop the run. They have an excellent running game. 2) Contain Campbell from scrambling. Have a spy as part of defensive gameplan. 3) Spread offense in shotgun, max protect Fitz under center. 4) Use Brad Smith more. 5) Gailey outcoached Haley in week 1. Gailey will be given more time to prepare for this game due to the raiders schedule. This is to our advantage. -
What I would like to see implemented and what a lot of other teams have done against the bills is on running plays line him up at WR and have him come around as a decoy reverse early on in the game. Later on in the game 3rd or 4th quarter have him run a reverse or a reverse throwback a la Randel El. There is so many possibilities with this guy. As for him returning the ball deep in the endzone, with the new kickoff rule that will be the norm this year.

I like Coach Sal on WGR55 Postgame
BuffaloBillsForever replied to BuffaloBillsForever's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I listened to both. It really was a night and day difference. Sal did a great job. -
Great addition to WGR55. He is a breathe of fresh air. I really enjoy his take on football.
-
Ditto. Barnett is an improvement over Poz. In fact I think Barnett is also a much better tackler.
-
The new kickoff rule will hurt him, but it will even out with all teams. He was deadly with NY. What I want them to use him for is getting first downs and that`s exactly what he did. They were VERY VANILLA with him today and didn't show their cards and what their potential with him is. But short yardage situations is where you want him to get the ball the majority of the time and that's exactly what they did.

So how did Mr. Dareus look?
BuffaloBillsForever replied to gobillsinytown's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Dareus is the real deal. Our best 1st round pick in decades. Our run defense and tackling was night and day difference than last years game against them. -
Like I said once we signed him, all he does is move the chains. Short yardage situation this guy is money! Proved it again today. He improves our offense mighty in those yardage distances. Always a threat to break one for 6. Would love to see him get the ball more on 3rd and 2 or 3. Oh yeah, he will be crucial on the goal line as well (despite the false start today).

I have always referred to this as the "Lee Evans Myth".

OMG! OMG! OMG! That was one amazing performance. First kudos to Chain Gailey and Co. You totally out coached that clown Haley. I was totally impressed with our offensive line...wow. Fred Jackson you played your ass off. What a game! Our WR corps look better WITHOUT EVANS. Fitzy throwing bullets throw tight windows...timing routes...wow..impressed. Something Evans NEVER did. HOW ABOUT OUR TACKLING! Scott at safety, Barnett at LB, Byrd made some nice tackles...holy crap our defensive tackling was awesome. Dareus, Williams you guys are the bomb! Our run defense looks improved. Special teams was solid like last year. Keep this up guys! We beat you up when you play bad but when you play good all the credit to you! Congratulations on this most epic win! Actually I find this win more dominate than most 90's bills games. Hey they couldn't beat the Chiefs when not the home team! Again congrats! Keep this up!

I can't believe there is no mention on defending the wild-cat and Brad Smith. Those fans are going to be in for a shock when they see just how much this element will be apart of our offense this year especially on short yardage situations where we need a first down. Brad Smith moves chains and is always a threat to break one for 6 as well. I think the Jets offense will miss him dearly this year.

Bills vs. Lions Official Thread
BuffaloBillsForever replied to Silvercrw's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Thigpen is awful. Brad Smith anyone if Fitz gets hurt? The Detriot announcers even alluded to how bad our back up is saying they would take Stanton the 3rd string quarterback of Detroit over him...lol -
Yawn on a Roscoe Extension. Isn't this the guy that makes unbelievable plays in training and practice but never on the football field? What does he have 7 touchdown his ENTIRE career? He is as fragile as the cups in my china cabinet. Certainly not worth the 3 mill+ they are paying him this year. Not one of the guys that would be a priority on the re-signing list.

For the first time in a while...
BuffaloBillsForever replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You don't know much about the Giants that year. I watched almost every Giants game that year. They had a SUPER ELITE pass rush especially on the ends. Overall a defense that was very good. That one year alone and game in particular was enough to solidify a head coaching position for their defense co-ordinator. Yup they were elite when they rattled Brady and company. -

Brady in shotgun, spread offense, quick passing game that the Pats have mastered would put a stop to that. The only time I see Brady get really rattled is with elite defensive schemes. The Jets overloading or perhaps the Ravens. We are not there yet. -
I noticed the Jags were playing a VERY vanilla defense. They were not showing anything. The Bills offense was out to prove something and they did. I hope Fitz can continue this, but I doubt it when there is actually a pressure scheme and actual game plan in mind. When the regular season comes around, the Bills o-line will not be able to play one on one match ups.

Our offensive line is bad this year. Fitz struggling and/or getting injured is not that far fetched. Thigpen struggling to fill in for Fitz is not very far fetched at all. So who's next? While its crazy to think a guy like Brad Smith can start as QB it is not that far fetched when Chain Gailey is the head coach. Brad Smith is right up his alley. Just look at Stewart in Pittsburgh. Though this time it will be only temporary. None of the QB's we have right now are our recent future (2-3 years from now).
-
Fitz and the offense will struggle mighty. The only spark of life will be Brad Smith. Thigpen gets a go for 1 game at some point in the year and fails miserably like his predecessor Brohm. Brad Smith then starts because of some sucess with him running the offense in the wildcat. Gailey then finishes the year with Slash v2.0. We then draft Andrew Luck #1 overall.
