  1. He did a great job explaining the final play. Coach Sal began before the ball was snapped how he didn't like the fact Spiller was in on the play over jackson. However, instead of me trying to butcher his explanation further the main key was the guy responsible for Nelson decided to double team Spiller. That's what left him wide open up the middle. Go Bills!
  2. If anyone hasn't noticed Gailey's passing philosophy is based off the best offenses in the league. Shotgun, spread offense, timing offense. Beautiful to watch how well it has been executed. Drags, crosses, quick slants and curls. Remember the day's when we couldn't even execute or even call a quick slant in a game? How far have we come. Go Bills!
  3. Super impressed with the o-line so far. The Raiders defense line is actually pretty nasty. We are protecting Fitz and this is the second week in a row we are pounding the ball down their throats.
  4. Go Chan! p.s I would have you liked you to go for it on 4th down and 1 early in the game. Brad Smith baby!
  5. Watch next week Evans put up 150 to 200 yards. He will disappear for several weeks then put up a big game to inflate his overall production. As you watched in this weeks game the Bills are a spread offense, quick passing team. This team is better without Evans.
  6. Yup, Spiller played great today. When he got the ball he was explosive. I really like him lined up at WR and running those drag routes. In the running game he is complementing Jackson quite nicely with his speed. Go Bills!
  7. Good thread! I think we will see the Brad Smith trickery in week#3 as Billicheat has struggled to defend the wild-cat in the past. IMO a good strategy is to play vanilla with brad-smith and then throw the kitchen sink at the pats as they have little film on Chans grand scheme with him.
  8. Game over. Bills Win! Has he ever made a correct football analysis?
  9. You have a point but this offense is going towards a more spread offense, timing, quick passing attack. Perhaps in this regard they are better without Lee Evans who does not take very crisp routes underneath, over the middle and on short curl routes along the sideline. For the curls look at a few interceptions where he doesn't come back to ball, just waits for it to arrive. He can run a fly route with his blazing speed but his underneath stuff is average. Is he really a lot better than what we have now in that type of offense? Not as black and white than what he can do on a fly route. Perhaps the coaches feel the other WR's are better in the short passing game and this is going to be more of their focus?
  10. This was my least favorite season BY FAR. Hated it. The twists, golden key, newbs vs. vets (a lot of annoying vets at that), bringing back players into the game after being eliminated etc etc. Drop all the twists and bring back a fresh group of people in the house next season and just let them play it out fairly.
  11. There are a lot of threads discussing Lee. We all know that. Most of the controversy surrounding Lee is that the presence of him alone on the field changes the dynamic of football games even when he produces little to nothing on the football field. The argument is that he makes the WR's around him better. This thread is to conclude whether Lee Evans is a great decoy Wr that truly impacts football games and the players around him - specifically opening things up for other Wr's and making them better. First we need to set a methodology as a group Methodology - Quick example: Look at games where Lee Evans has 4 catches and less. Examine the production of all the other WR's, TE's and RB's in the passing game. Also did this game end up in a win or loss and more importantly if it was a loss by how much? The methodology is the most important. Lots of input is needed. Data Gathering - This is bitchy part, but hopefully someone has time on their hands. Observations - Interpretation of results with group concensus, though it should be fairly obvious either way. Conclusion - To find out if Lee Evans is in fact a legend that can impact games without getting the ball or is this just a myth.
  12. A 4th round pick is the going rate for a guy like Lee Evans. Ochocinco who is hands down a better WR went for a 5th in 2012 and a 6th in 2013 in the Bengals/Patriots trade. Both short term solutions in hopes of bringing home a championship.
  13. Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels Snatch Shawshank Redemption True Romance Goodfellas Bronx Tale The Dark Night The Usual Suspects There are way to many to name....
  14. I would also point out that the Steelers secondary, mainly their cornerback situation is heavily in the decline and not what they use to be. There are changes to the Ravens as well, mainly their run game in which they implemented zone blocking run schemes. Something the Steelers never seen before. There are just so many factors that make up a game.
  15. That's all Lee Evans is a deep threat. If you are that worried about him you can just play zone coverage over top. But it's not something you need to do every down. When Evans was on WGR for his weekly talks they always asked him what the defenses were doing because his production was down and if anything was changing on how teams were defending him. He clearly stated what teams do against him is very vanilla, where they will put a safety over top in zone. These type of strategies is not specific to Lee Evans. It's a base defense for a lot of teams.
  16. Another myth is people think Lee gets double covered all the time. He doesn't really. The standard defense and a common one at that is a zone or 1 on 1 with the CB and a safety playing zone coverage over top. He won't draw that extra man unless the ball is thrown on that fly route down field. This is a standard cover 2 defense which teams use all the time. Teams don't draw up elaborate defenses so they can defend the greatest decoy WR of all time. If they feel their corner can stop him they will let the CB play man or zone with no safety help. This is where Lee might get his 2-3 touches for 60-80 yards where he gets the bulk of those yards in one catch.
  17. I would like to see that play again too. From what I recall Fitzy through it to the wrong shoulder that was closer to the sideline, the ball was placed high so even if it was caught in bounds the DB would just push him out of bounds in the air (no force out rule) and the ball would be incomplete. I think if that ball is more to the back side shoulder he can use his height and stay in bounds. Atleast that is how that play is supposed to playout in theory. That's from what I recall but I think only seen 1 replay from the broadcast.
  18. Yup I still consider Jones a work in progress. Like you said a lot of that can improve with practice and in-game experience. You also have to consider on those type of plays, ball placement by the QB is ultra critical. I remember on pass early on the game, Jones had position on the secondary, Fitzy just missed him and he had to catch the ball out of bounds. Better chemistry and timing will yield better results as well.
  19. He is the silent defensive assassin.
  20. Good insight. He doesn't have that blow up speed. What he has to do to be successful is using his body and find position on the CB. Back shoulder throws and stuff like that.
  21. They both significantly added value with each other because each was producing in the offense. They were each gaining over 1000 some years together. They weren't mythical players, they were an exceptional WR combo putting up exceptional numbers together. One of the best. This is one of the reasons Gailey likes Donald Jones. He has the strength to get off that press coverage from the DB.
  22. Wannstedt wasn't mentioned much in the broadcast and I don't remember any shots of him in the game. My question is he on the field during the game or in a booth?
  23. I was really impressed with the Bills defense especially the secondary and linebacker tackling. It was a HUGE improvement. Wrapping up players at the point of attack as opposed to tackling players down field. They need to keep this up.
  24. The dolphins were done before that play even happened. The play alone had little impact on the game. It was one on one coverage with Welker (no safety help). Coverage was pretty tight. The problem was there was no safety over top. There must be more to his mediocre play than just this one game.
