  1. Stevie Johnson should be the face of the franchise... Fitz should be the beard of the franchise. Speaking of the face of the franchise... Have the Canucks taken Trent Edwards' banner down from the Rogers Centre yet? I was up in Toronto some months ago and it was still there. Caused me great pain while driving by it.
  2. That's an understatement. He was just terrible in the booth. He gives a great interview, conducts himself in a very classy way in general, and has employed self-deprecation with great success, but Lordy did he ever suck as an analyst.
  3. Wouldn't deal the #1 for him, and neither would the Eagles. If he maintains this sort of performance level, it would be a PR disaster for them. How's that for irony! Vick is accepting his coaching (i.e. he's growing up), and working in a system that gives him lots of opportunities, for a coach & team that took a mild chance on him. Mechanically, he's volumes better than he was in Atlanta. Is there anyone who wants to line up against him right now? Chan could scheme for Vick just like the Iggles are, and probably just as well.
  4. From the info on espn.com and Yahoo Shutdown Corner, it seems that the Skins didn't actually lock up too much money in McNabb, despite that big dollar sign total.
  5. Unless your D can totally shut down the other team... the game is won on the O line. Rypien is the best example -- that Skins team kept Rypien cleaner than any QB in history. He could sit back there & throw darts - it also helped that he was extremely accurate with all that time to throw. Gibbs' success was tied to the Hogs, and a strong defense. Similar to Shanahan -- his offensive lines in Denver were so good (with their borderline illegal cut blocking technique) than any RB he put behind them put up big numbers. Shanahan's O-line has stunk up the joint this year... and McNabb is being exposed for the inaccurate passer he's always been.
  6. Right. This time, they didn't commit the late turnover, they ran the ball well, and the D was stout. If they do it again, they can beat the Bangles.
  7. Exactly. This is why you can't bring your kids.
  8. great link! thanks for posting.
  9. The Lions are awful away from home in the fresh air. Bills 27-24. AND -- I will sigh & hang my head when Chan Gailey gets a Gatorade bath for notching the 1 in 1-8.
  10. This is part of the run-up to draft day - with a #1 pick, teams work to make sure that they can sign or deal the guy they select.
  11. +1 In their postgame comments, Chan & Fitz sounded like they'd been kicked in the stones. Jauron and Trent likely would have sounded aloof and disinterested. Oddly enough, that's progress.
  12. Pretty amazing that they gave up only 13 points, with that much hemmorhage in ground yards.
  13. Let us rejoice and be glad that the kicking game is something that is not a cause for concern on this team. It was so great to see a big kick like that with the game on the line, on the road, and with so much room to spare. Haven't had too many moments for exultation this season, but that was one of them.
  14. The bottom line (W/L) is too important to ignore in the Pro Bowl discussion. Gotta get some Ws to get to the Pro Bowl, regardless of whose fault it is. What better tutor for the right draft pick than the Harvard Professor! His arm strength and accuracy have been issues, and it's hard to think he'll keep this pace up...but I sure hope so.

  16. Yes! Back to the leather helmets! No projectile defensive backs, lineman would succeed through footwork and hand technique, etc. The game would slow down a bit in some ways, but careers would be longer.
  17. The comments in the article come from former NFL coaches who presumably could not get a job in the big leagues. That colors things a bit.
  18. But it's a really big target - you'd think it have happened by now...
  19. ya -- Barely watched any, until the Sunday nighter.
  20. http://www.buffalorumblings.com/2010/10/16/1752534/former-bills-rb-davis-id-love-to-come-back-to-buffalo Buffalo Rumblings did a nice job with this one.
  21. Hold everything... they've dropped to a valuation of $799M. http://www.forbes.com/lists/2010/30/football-valuations-10_Buffalo-Bills_301765.html
  22. Gussie Fink-Nottle? How are the newts?
