Is that you Mike Mayock? Remember what you said about me, that I'd be good, that I'd be a star. Signed, Robert Ayers Saying you like Mayock over the likes of Kiper and McShay is just preferring the lesser of two evils. Anyone with time to waste can go and compile a list of of studs and busts they missed on.

Thank you. It's funny how people will dismiss this as a publicity stunt/skills competition, but will consider their pro-day the end-all-be-all in grading out a prospect. All of these are meant to make the player look as good as possible, while incorporating certain aspects scouts/media want to see. There's not mock-defenses at the combine, but somehow throwing there is more indicative of success? If Cam Newton wants to be a top 10 pick, one word. Wonderlic.

Suhhhh-weeeetttt!

I put this in the other Newton thread, but Dilfer said these things, and i paraphrase... -Physically imposing, Dilfer said he's 6'4" 240 and Cam dwarfs him -sound mechanics, nothing needs an overhaul -threw every pass in the book into a stiff breeze, said there was 4 drops because of zip on ball -nothing short of amazing when asked his overall impression -top 5 pick

Trent Dilfer is creaming over the workout right now on ESPN. Quick sound-bites...

Exactly. The defense is a hybrid where Williams will be lining up all over the line.

Report: Dolphins NT Soliai to hit open market
stony replied to Marshmallow's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree. The whole "this guy was dominate this year" is a crock of BS. Didn't hear his name once in either game we played them this year. -

Sounds like the fat man saw the short-ribs at the end of the rainbow. -
Bucky Brooks rank the top 25 prospects
stony replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
1- true, I knew he only started like 5 games (which he did), but still finished with 6.5 sacks. 2-very true. I really like Dareus to be clear, I just don't understand the Bowers hate. I view him in a an extremely favorable light. Mario Williams Lite, which is not a bad thing at all. -

The One Year Wonder label is a bit overrated if you actually played those years, unlike Maybin. But If that's the best reason to why he is getting ripped on, so is Dareus and Fairley. Right? -
I like 1 and 2, but no way Austin and Sheppard will get to us. If they did, defense would be top 10 within the next 2 years.

I'm not singling you out because there's a reasonable amount of Bowers hate on this board, but why are a bunch of amateur fans, i.e. all of us, denouncing this guy when 99.9% of scouts/professionals see him as a possible #1, not worse then top 5 pick? I get the hate on Peterson or Green, but what makes this guy so bad in the eyes of so many. Here's what I usually hear..."I saw this guy play, doesn't impress me in the least." (no reasons of course), " Bowers is way overrated" (no reasons) "guy get his sacks in bunches" (not true), and of course my favorite, "he's way overrated." -
Thanks, nice link that proves taking him early wouldn't be the worst thing ever just because he's a LB. Most of those have him around 7. Or 6 1/2. Good insight and nice abstracts. But he's a ILB...

+1. His name is a lot bigger than his game.

Yup. Only guy I think is in the conversation was Bryant. But too many red flags at the time. It's not like anyone dominated that went a few picks later. FWIW, Herm Edwards is saying Patrick Peterson is the best prospect in the draft this year by a mile. Probably some DB on DB love, but still interesting.

Our OLB corp will look a lot better w/ Moats as a backup/pass-downs player, too. And that's no knock on Moats either.

it was a good commercial and in a weird way, the fact Kramer was wearing the Bills jacket seemed so right.

IDK. NFL Network had a lot of commentators (ex players like Woodson, Tory Holt) who all said out of the three, Reed is the most deserving. Carucci and Rick Gosselin (Dallas writer) both advocated on Reed's behalf as well. Videos on the nfl.com.

Why the Bills will go QB instead of DT @ pick # 3
stony replied to Bill4Life's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Brees was a bit better then "OK-decent" w/ the Chargers as you say. Here's his stats from his final two seasons in SD. They got rid of him because they had invested their 1st overall pick in a QB who was sitting on the sidelines making big-time money. G Att Comp Pct Att/G Yds Avg Yds/G TD TD% Int Int% Lng 20+ 40+ Sck SckY Rate 16 500 323 64.6 31.2 3,576 7.2 223.5 24 4.8 15 3.0 54 46 4 27 223 89.2 15 400 262 65.5 26.7 3,159 7.9 210.6 27 6.8 7 1.8 79T 40 9 18 131 104.8 -
I would counter your report by saying he's extremely explosive off the line, multiple rush moves, and is very consistent (not putting up huge numbers in a couple of games to inflate his numbers.)

Yeah, you should be able to go right onto his page at ESPN and get the archived show.

LA Takes a big step towards getting the NFL back
stony replied to CosmicBills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree w/ everything you say about Golisano. He danced around the roster questions a bit too much, but no harm, no foul. He does deserve a huge pat on the back. -

I won't argue with your viewpoints regarding the structural integrity needed to have a domed stadium here in WNY because I'm not familiar with what it would need. 1.7bill is still too high IMO. NOLA is indeed a small market in NFL terms, however. The mass exodus that redistributed the population across the South has brought about this moniker. Furthermore, to assert that it isn't a small market because it pulls from places like Baton Rouge and "farther north" is really the same situation as the Bills. Really the debate with the Saints comes down to their recent success. Southern Ontario's population is expected to grow by 34% by 2036, a situation that only proves to be a valuable asset IF the Bills are able to stay in Buffalo. http://www.fin.gov.on.ca/en/economy/demographics/projections/ I agree with the cities you listed as possible places. But they still don't have stadiums. Also Toronto, aside from the Blue Jays success in the early 90s has proven to be a colossal failure in fielding competitive American pro sports teams. For a city that touts it's bottomless wealth and big-market status, they are unable/unwilling to keep up with their AL East brethren in baseball. As far as the Raptors, no marquee FAs want to go to TO. Sound familiar? Their current roster is heavily laden w/ international talent. Every American born star has left the team, Bosh being the most recent example. The Leafs and Toronto FC are the most fervently supported clubs.
