There's an interesting word coming out of Bills camp
stony replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I must admit, you're right on this. I don't put too much stock into preseason performance as it is widely known that teams usually only go with their vanilla packages. When the regular season starts, it's amazing how preseason all-stars revert back to mediocrity. I do think the performance of the defense is more indicative to regular season success. I am excited to see our revamped front 7 and whether or not we can stop the run with some consistency. If not, could be in for a long year. -
Aaron Maybin only weighs 228lbs
stony replied to Chris in Syracuse's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Has anyone just thought about how uncoordinated Maybin might be. I might be 'dumbing' it down a bit, but it could be true. A lot of people (myself included) think he's athletic enough to excel in the NFL, but perhaps even worse than his marginal football instincts is his ridiculous inability to control body movements in a way he can beat NFL quality tackles. IMO, he seems to "flail" a lot out on the field. He has no counter-moves because I think he would end up on his azz if he tried a spin move from time to time, hence the repeated attempts to use his outside speed rush. It works sometimes, but even Eric Pears can catch on to that eventually. Just a thought. -
over/under on Shawne Merriman getting injured
stony replied to papazoid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
After a lockout in which players, especially ones in which are rehabbing injuries, are prone to being overworked and at higher risk for injury. And how do we know George Edwards was the one to hold him out? Or was it just a convenient opportunity to take a shot at Edwards? I'm all for keeping him out. It's games we want, not practices. -
Bills talking to Houston about their TEs??
stony replied to BobbyC81's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I like that. With Fitzy's propensity to sail passes every so often, this is a good thing. -
Rome just interview Nick Barnett...breakdown below. Knock Rome all you want, but he always acts positively towards Buffalo. One of the few national guys that doesn't take shots on the small guys whenever he gets the shot. On being in Buffalo/new uniform... definitely thought it was weird at first. Uniform make his eyes look better Selling point...fans were awesome, something he wants wherever he goes having been to GB and Oregon St. in college. Also sees potential in the team after watching it for a day and actually, really likes the small market atmosphere. Detroit was an option cause playing GB twice was a selling point. Regarding SB Ring controversy, felt after 8yrs he deserved it, but admitted there was an empty feeling not having played in the big game. Regarding Buffalo...likes the city and small-town, blue collar atmosphere. Rome gave huge props to bills fans, and he said they were the tipping point at camp. Goals here in Buffalo...bring back winning and reward fans for their commitment On being the "new guy"...like the first day in school. Weird because he's a vet, yet he felt like a rookie. Said the players and coaches were the most welcoming he's ever seen. Huge reason why he signed. All in all, good interview. Rome is always cool towards Buffalo.

Unexpected cuts on the way?
stony replied to San Jose Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Unfortunately he already resigned w/ Miami. He's playing guard now I believe. -
Unexpected cuts on the way?
stony replied to San Jose Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
1) IDK, what's worse 15 over or 23 under? 2) By all accounts, Troup has progressed well since last year and is playing good in camp. But typical response is to replace a 2nd rounded with a 400lb gimmick who played guard last year year. If he plays well, he'll earn himself a spot on the PS. -
Brad Smith or Braylon Edwards?
stony replied to auburnbillsbacker's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Any way you look at it, the Jets just got worse. Braylon > Plaxico at this point in their careers. Double the piss out of Santonio, hopefully Wilson can cover Keller, and Sanchez will have some problems...that is if we can hold them to under "X" amount of yards on the ground. -
That's sweet. I was referring to there being a small chance of a Bills Bar in MV, not a big city like Boston. Go Bills!
-
I agree with all of your post. I really like George Wilson, but think he just keeping the seat warm for a real (Searcy?) strong safety. No offense to GW, but as bad as Donte is in coverage, George is in run support.

Was there last Summer and remember meeting some Bills fans...but good luck finding one there in Pats Country.

Donte say's his heart is in Buffalo
stony replied to clearwater cadet's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Or it's because they both play in the Bill's division and we play them more than everyone else. Not sticking up for our coverage miscues, just saying... -

Hell, w/ the money that got thrown Weddle's way, I commend the Bill's FO for showing some restraint. Weddle isn't anything special IMO. Funny thing is, Donte is probably expecting the Bill's to hold firm on that offer, and Buddy and Co. are probably low-balling him now due to lack of open-market offers. -
Will we see a bunch of 4-3 this year
stony replied to Mike in Syracuse's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
True. And on the flip-side of that, actually putting him at DE where he was/is effective isn't that bad of a thing either. -

Well played Mr. Batiste! -

The people who complain about Donte's Twitter account are the some people who say they can't stand WGR but nonetheless listen for 4hrs a day just so they can complain about how bad they are. It's amazing really, that when given the choice to avoid something they openly loathe, 75% of the people on the board go w/ what ticks them off. -
I didn't know they still made Gameday. I thought Madden was the only football game out there.

Teams can't practice more than 6 days in a row
stony replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You are correct. Fitz already mentioned driving back to OP for a bit of family time. -
No, no, no. He just wants to finally fix the F'ed-up decision to take Mike Williams, 9yrs later. Buddy Nix campaign slogan, "Correcting the Past, to Fix the Future."
-
So you are ready to dismiss one Bronco castoff (Pears) for another in Harris. Just because you've heard of him means we need to sign him? It's apparent to most by now that Clabo was the one RT we were to go after, and if it didn't work out, we would move on w/ what we had. Not just sign a "name" to placate the whining of fans.
-
I don't want to trade for him, but you use 'aging veteran' as if he's on the downside of his career. He had a pro-bowl 7int season last year.
-
And you know, people have heard of him and stuff...
-
Wow. A little thin skinned down there. Just imagine if they'd seen Fitz miss on all those deep balls the past couple of days.
-
Wasn't he listed around 317 during the combine/end of season at Bama? 343 sounded very high to me. That's NT weight, not 3-4 DE weight.

2 Guys Completely Under The Radar
stony replied to BillsObserver's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think they're on a lot of people's minds. A lot of fingers are crossed because their progress is huge in determining a) the success of last year's draft and b) the long-term direction this team is heading in it's attempt to compete in the division. Troup seemed to work his azz off this offseason and Carrington seems to have knocked a few passes down in camp thus far. He's a tall athlete capable of putting some pressure on the QB it seems.
