  1. That would be overkill but I agree with your assertion about drafting a QB early and often. RE: the Seahawks fans waxing poetic about TJax, keep in mind when a beat writer from Minny was asked if he would resurrect his career his response was along the lines of "not a chance in hell."
  2. The best quote was something along the lines of Fitz looking like a guy who should be walking behind a plough mule. Great stuff and no need to cry about this, some other write-ups have been much worse.
  3. I think this is what happens. I don't think Smith can be great, but if he practiced more at WR I think he's a nice asset to have as the 6th WR. Good size for the redzone.
  4. How the hell should I know? Would you expect him to throw Shep under the bus and say he doesn't have what it takes to succeed in the league? If I had a nickel for everytime a teammate said another teammate was going to be great I'd be rich. It means nothing.
  5. I'll preface this by saying I'm a Shep supporter, but.... Does anyone else notice that whenever you see a picture of Shep he's always goofing off or got one of those "it wasn't me" grins on his face. I know I'm probably over-thinking this whole thing but maybe he's just a bit too immature right now for what the coaches are asking of him. Not the first to have this happen, nor will it be the last. No doubt the kid was a leader at LSU, but it's a different ballgame in the pros. Oh, and he's limited athletically too. Still, unless Morrison shows the coaches something at MLB, he's probably the best we have at the moment. Here's to the DLINE dominating so it doesn't expose our LBs.
  6. Wouldn't surprise me at all. I actually think it will be a reverse of sorts from our hot starts the past few seasons. Defense will take time to gel, but when it does, the whole team will be energized when they start living up tot he hype.
  7. I could care less because it's cycling. But no proof? Really? You know, other than his entire team actually seeing him do it, but I mean, why take their word for it... He'd probably stick him in the azz w/ the needle.
  8. Good stuff. At the very least it proves that Buddy isn't sleeping. Right? But seriously, it didn't come off as a pompous Rex-like quote that was nothing more than a chance to end up in the headlines. It seemed genuine and when read in full, it comes off as a guys who is starting to see his 3-year plan come to fruition. Good for him. Now, show me the baby!!
  9. JPP was not the BPA at 9 and would have been considered a major risk where we took him. I remember the draft pundits saying how a team with depth along the dine was the best place for him to land. Go figure the Giants took him. Also the Bills were not necessarily in need of a DE given the perceived "year two leap" from the great Aaron Maybin. Last, JPP's biggest claim to fame was his ability to too lots of backflips.
  10. You should probably watch the replay on that. It hits his forward (right) arm first, it's not anywhere behind him.
  11. You think he makes the team? Still not sure. Either Corey M. gets cut or Dickinson is the 2nd TE we keep? Or do we keep three TEs and he's the 3rd?
  12. Well, except for the Chargers game right after the Cardinals game. Edwards was 25-30 for 261 and a TD. Never understood that. Weird. Really freaking weird come to think of it. That game might have been his defining moment as a Buffalo Bill as he ran around the stadium smiling as he was giving fans high-fives. Good luck to him, just glad he's elsewhere.
  13. The next Brees? Probably not. Let's not salivate for another guy on another team who has yet to win the starting job on his own team, let alone start an NFL regular season game.
  14. It's not that far-fetched if the brass think Heard and Johnson are the two best backup DTs.
  15. Unfortunately I don' think we keep more than 9.
  16. Yeah that waste of cap space really prevented the team from going out to sign the richest defensive contract in NFL history as well as getting him a high-priced defensive sidekick. I really don't see it as a black mark for Nix either. It was a high-risk, high-reward type of thing. A black mark for Nix is Troup and Carrington, but not Merriman IMO.
  17. Didn't 9-7 do in in the AFC last year? With that said, if the Bills finished 10-6 this year and missed the playoffs, I would lose it.
  18. If I remember correctly, Shep graded out pretty well in last years Profootball Focus review. I am willing to give him a shot cause I think he's a leader, but it was pretty plain to see that he stunk it up last night.
  19. By audition time I was referring to the 2nd and 3rd teamers. Quite frankly, I really don't care if we win those battles. I was not laying down any argument other than the fact these games are more important to the coaches watching bubble players. Was our 1st team brilliant yesterday? No. But in a regular season game with our full game plan at our disposal I have little doubt we would have won that game.
  20. I'm w/ you. The only thing I care about is that we come out of these four meaningless games w/o any significant injuries to our team.
  21. I appreciate your insight and find the "sky is falling" sentiment on this board at the moment laughable. Do we have weaknesses? Of course. But this is audition time for the majority of the team. As much as it would please the irrational/impatient segment of the fan base to come out with our week 1 game plan, it just doesn't make sense to do so.
  22. He shouldn't be taking crap. It's preseason. Personally I think Mario is going to have a Pepper's-like 1st year w/ the team (his 1st year in Chicago) where he only gets 8-9 sacks but makes life so much easier around the dine for everyone else. Kyle was a beast last night. His quickness his back. Dareus is an amazing athlete for such a fat man. The play where he ran down the line was freaking awesome. Aside from two running plays the Dline looked fine to me. CBs are the weakness of the team. Don't want to overreact cause it's preseason but outside of Barnett our LBs are going to have problems guarding RBs out of the backfield. We're going to see a lot of Scott this year.
