  1. Every year, a player becomes the highest paid player in the history of the NFL at their respective position. I wouldn't necessarily beat this point home because the salaries of players reflect inflation and not necessarily the notion that a particular player is an "all-time great" as "highest-ever" implies. Signing a deal that makes him the highest paid player at his position just creates a new number another team will have to top when their pro-bowl players come up for a new contract.
  2. This is why Hobbes had serious reservations over whether humans had the intellectual capacity to rule themselves.
  3. Anderson has a very "Leino-esque" mystique/quality about him and I mean that in a good way. I wanna see what we've got with him before we throw him to the curb.
  4. I know. It's amazing how removing certain stats can help make another stat look so average.
  5. Yeah, I guess in theory that's true. But when you're giving away 5% you probably listen to the guy's opinion.
  6. Indeed. I'm hoping the speedsters open up a lot of space over the middle and underneath for Chandler to exploit. Stevie will lead the team in REC this season but I'm thinking Chandler and Spiller will both ending up having 50+ or close to it. Rookie QB means dump-offs and and a TE who can be a great safety valve. Especially rookie QBs
  7. I think you're joking. Right? You "know" the money has affected his intellect? Seriously?
  8. Well sure, I mean I like quiet conversations with disease free girls rather than all-night benders with supermodels that have herpes too.
  9. Wondering what will feel worse... A) Losing to the Pats when Brady was out for a year or B) Losing to the Pats when Brady loses 3 out of top 4 targets? Plus a possibly injured Gronk...
  10. I think Im in the minority on this, but aside from the first few games I thought Glenn was pretty poor. He's a huge question mark for me. I hope it was the injuries as you allude to cause if your body ain't right, your game ain't right.
  11. Young Player: Glenn. Thought he started off strong and was abysmal after returning from injury. Yet, many feel he's the next great LT and Buddy fleeced the other 31. Veteran: Bryan Scott. I just don't see the value/need for keeping him around. He's supposed to be the "Gronk" stopper and match up with TEs, yet he gets killed by them every freaking year. No to mention he's not much good in the run game. But alas, he's "good in the locker room." Honorable Mention: Freddy
  12. True that. And if you're Pettine, who are you blitzing with last year? With Revis hurt, your security blanket was gone. The Jets haven't had really any good individual pass-rushers the past 3-4 years. There's a reason why they took a gamble on Maybin.
  13. Seeing my favorite team on the best sports show ever from the best cable channel ever would've been great. I don't really buy the whole "distraction" argument. Teams bring that upon themselves and we don't have that problem IMO. Biggest "distraction" would be the pending Byrd holdout, and to be honest, I think HBO would provide some really cool insight to that whole situation.
  14. Deadspin had a picture of a 16grand bar tab these guys racked up that night. Impressive? Stupid?
  15. Dammit, he's more shrewd than I gave him credit for. He's appeasing the entire Slavic population of WNY. Freaking genius.
  16. You don't do anything. For once the Bills would have valuable assets at the most important position in all of sports.
  17. Kool-Aid? Over signing Legursky? This reeks of a Russ Brandon move i.e. how can I appease the Polish season ticket holder fan-base. Unbelievable.
  18. Not necessarily. What if Kolb regains the "promise" that netted the Eagles a 2nd and a starting CB a couple years back? EJ might be good to begin with but Kolb could finally get his crap together and then the Bills have assets at the most important position in all of sports. Just one reason why I'm rooting for Kolb.
  19. Definitely psyched for the guy. He's got a bit of "wildcard" in him.
  20. Please. You've never choked a woman? But seriously, comparing Kelly to Reich is like apples and oranges. We know at that point of their lives they represented two extreme opposite ends of the spectrum. Not a fair comparison.
  21. The coaching point can't be overstated in analyzing some of the talent we've had on that side of the ball. It's easy to blame coaches on crappy play--however right it might be to--but in Byrd's case, he's one of the few (Kyle Williams being the only other that really comes to mind) that's played exceedingly well regardless. This alone is reason enough in my armchair analysis to why the man deserves the coin he's trying to get...and the fact he really has zero holes in his game that are apparent or can't be improved upon.
  22. I'm curious to know what he's done that makes you so nervous about him.
  23. Given the age of the "great" safeties still playing (Reed, Polamalu) and the injuries of young one's (Berry) and one-dimensional game of other's (Goldson), I can't think of another safety I'd want at this point in their career than Byrd. Kind of awesome considering he's on the Bill's (technically). He has few redeeming qualities.
  24. Loved Howard Simon's column which mentioned this "situation." He advocated the show me the money approach which I agree with. Didn't realize Goldson(sp) got 5yr 41mil w/ 22 guaranteed. Byrd is a much better player IMO
