  1. Robert Royal had many big plays in Ralph Wilson Stadium. My favorite was the 30yd seam route he ran, beautifully I might add, shook his coverage and found himself wide open between the two safeties (Wilson and Whitner) by 15yds only to drop the pass. If one play ever summed up an entire game, it was that drop during the infamous 6-3 shootout against the Browns.
  2. There most definitely may be truth to that. I thought that you were insinuating Littman is picking reserves OL reserves for Whaley. The myth of Mr. Littman would have grown to new levels lol. edit: basic grammar skills elude me today
  3. Do you really think Jeff Littman called Doug Whaley and suggested they sign Doug Legursky? Read that sentence and think about it. Doug Whaley had a hell of a first year as our GM but he did have two blemishes. Colin Brown and Doug Legursky.
  4. Seattle's Superbowl "formula" was to have a good defense (great), and get lucky with drafting a QB. They have the luxury right now have being A) a winner, B) lots of their young talent on rookie contracts and C) players willing to take a slight discount to stay. Oh yeah, the got lucky drafting a great QB.
  5. True. Never said he could. I'll put that one on the front office because they were both atrocious.
  6. Drinking the kool-aid on a stop-gap LG who will probably start for a year or two is a hellava better plan than freaking out over a stop gap player who will likely start for a year or two. Legursky and Brown sucked. Our GM and his scouts think he will be a better option. Doug Marrone is good with OL. It is very likely this pick has Marrone's consent. Again, he costs 3.5 mil per season. What am I missing?
  7. Bill Polian rated him a "B" in his FA guide. Profootball Focus said he kinda stunk. We'll see. But I'm sure you've scouted him extensively and realized the Bills made a massive, massive 13.5 million dollar blunder.
  8. I don't know a thing about Chris Williams, but I've got to think Whaley and Co. believe he is an upgrade over those two. You are an upgrade over those two.
  9. Chandler also makes difficult catches. What comes to mind is a guy that makes tough catches over the middle when he knows a big hit is coming. This is an innate trait in my mind and something that cannot be taught. Also a great thing to have for a young and inaccurate QB. Chandler has shown me enough that he deserves to have the "safety outlet" label replaced with "solid weapon."
  10. The human mind is an amazing thing, or more specifically, the human mind of a Buffalo Bill's fan on the verge of being dumped. Kind of like remembering that ex-girlfriend who was pretty damn hot while convincing yourself she wasn't that special.
  11. Nothing wrong with hoping for a positive outcome. Even better if the Bills forced the issue with some shrewd FA tactics. I'm one of the few (only?) who thinks there's a good chance he resigns so I'd personally love nothing more than your plan coming to fruition.
  12. To be fair, he really might love to come back. And I don't doubt for a second that he hasn't forged great friendships with some of his teammates here in Buffalo. But he's also human, and leaving whatever amount of money on the table for a team without the winning ways he might desire is entirely normal in my book. The revealing factor, and what might shed some light on his motives, is not what he signs for but where he ends up signing.
  13. The cap will be up to (allegedly) 150 million in five or so years. If Williams improves on his play of this past season, you'll love this deal when those guys are asking for raises in 2-3 years.
  14. 6.5mil is a lot to give AW but we've got the money to spend it, so why not? In two years, this deal might look like a real bargain. Hopefully he won't be asked to switch positions. I'd give it an Incomplete grade right now (kind of want to see a full season in new scheme) with the possibility of it turning into an "A."
  15. These two situations couldn't be more different from one another.
  16. Fair enough, and your right. All it takes is one. Even though location, scheme, coaching and organizational stability would factor into the decision one might think. I just don't think there'll be one higher than that offer.
  17. I said yesterday that I think Byrd will be very surprised that there aren't a boatload of teams lining up to give him a $60million contract. If those numbers are accurate, I think he will be severely disappointed during his maiden free agency. That's a hell of an offer.
  18. You said "Duke Williams will play" unless a vet beats him in camp. It sounded like you think he's got it wrapped up. I just really hope there's some serious competition and not just 'camp bodies' that don't provide real competition.
  19. I agree with you in regards to Brown/Levitre. But it's probably not that far off with Duke Williams. I would hope there is some serious camp competition if the spot opens up. This role shouldn't be handed to any of the guys currently on the roster.
  20. It wasn't the coaching staff. Just many posters on here hypothesizing how good Duke Williams is already. Which is fine, I suppose. I just fear it's a huge drop-off to go to anyone of these guys. In regards to wins with Leonard (who I love), it's kind of an arbitrary stat given how it was generally our inept offense and carousel at QB that was the major reason the Bills were or were not competitive. Which of course takes us to a completely different argument that safeties really don't matter and it all comes back to the QB...Gotta love the NFL, that's for sure.
  21. Byrd on ESPN right now... All doors remain open w/ Bills. Basically said they have my number and could continue to talk. Excited about FA, never done it before. Pretty stock answer. RE: Pettine...great coach, thinks he'll do a great job. Liked playing in his defense. Philly: Knows coach, thinks he's a great coach. When asked about any feelings of where he'll end up he was vague and says it's a process. Talks about his dad, and him coaching with the Bucs. Overall, scripted interview. As one might expect, I suppose.
  22. That't the important part. I think people are grossly overstating the readiness of Duke Williams and Meeks to contribute this season. These guys were projects and barely touched the field last season with the exception of special teams. Byrd missed 1/2 the season. Aaron Williams was banged up and missed games. Essentially it was Searcy and a 57 year old Jim Leonard that kept these guys from taking snaps. Yes, I understand Leonard knew Pettine's scheme, I'm just pissed we'll now have a significant hole on defense to fill with no able replacement likely on the roster.
