  1. Good post. The Bill's true value will take into account the next TV contract as well as the recent $300 million dollar CBS/Thursday night deal (good deal for CBS, next one will be much more). This value can be discounted back into 'today's dollars' so to speak, but whatever the cost for the Bills will be, it's sure to surpass what Haslem paid for the Browns. As if the Buck's, their value took into account the rumors of a pending internet/streaming deal that is expected in the future. Long story short, the $870/mil Forbes figure is pretty dated already.
  2. Is it weird that if the Bills ever did leave, the only city I would still root for them in is London? You are correct. Goodell is very popular with the owners as evidenced by his perpetually growing annual compensation. I think he would indeed wield some power here.
  3. Well, you can't re-sign Dareus w/o Stevie being here in the first place. Because, you know, the Pitt drop got us Dareus.
  4. I think they would too. I would expect he'd receive great recommendations from his NHL brethren. From day 1, he was one of the wealthiest owners who could have ruffled feathers and grabbed headlines. He's done the opposite and laid low. I think the NFL would welcome this. He sure isn't another Haslem.
  5. Agreed. It's really the only player going all the way to 1 for that makes sense. Don't know if we need to do it, but it sure would be fun. Also, could free up Whaley to try and recoup a lost pick by trading Hughes if he become a schematic non-fit.
  6. The trade chart is pretty outdated as far as the trade up value at the top of the draft. Generally the player the teams want to trade up for determines the amount of picks. See the picks the Skins had to give up for to get RG3 and see what Dallas had to do to get up to take Claiborne. I know this isn't the perfect example, but if there isn't a premiere player (ie a stud QB), the cost is generally much less.
  7. I would agree this is mostly true. Don't really know why, but I suspect it has something to do with the fact we have an NFL team and they want an NFL team. Also, Bills and Sabres fans have a tendency to rip on TO and especially the Leafs. Many of these fans are what you would characterize as "loud" fans. I suppose it irks these writers sometimes and this is their way of taking it out on Buffalo.
  8. Cathal is an infamous 'Buffalo Basher.' He loves to ruffle the feather's of WNY. He's the guy I'm always tempted to write a review commenting on his articles.
  9. What a crap week to be a Bills fan.
  10. Pretty neat you were a Bills fan and doing an internship in Houston while Jimbo was there. I always loved those photos of Jim rocking some pretty hideous hats and Ray Bans during these times.
  11. His career high in receptions for a season is 45. So the question is, do the Bills want to bring in a jerk with average talent?
  12. He's got credibility in my book. I appreciate the behind the scenes stories you told earlier...one of my favorite part of this board.
  13. But he makes some seriously quality Cabernet. I don't think there has ever been a transformation quite like that of a mediocre QB into a downright stellar vineyard owner. So for that, I rate his tenure in Buffalo highly.
  14. I believe it's semantics. Both are 0.08 or above. Either way, at 1.6 billion...pick up the phone and call your bulter!!! Nice.
  15. That Josh Hare guy sounds exactly like Doug Whaley. And I can't help but think when Jimbo gave Boyd a hug, Boyd was thinking "man, your nephew is a huge dbag."
  16. Fair enough. I like the signing BTW too. A little attitude never hurt a LB. edit: prospective signing????
  17. Totally agree. I hope he's not taking Kiko out nightly for drinks, but I'm fine with a little edge back there. I'm just in the minority that thinks Tim Graham's hilarious. It appears it is indeed, a small and exclusive minority.
  18. What is the negative spin here? Simply curious to hear your point. It appears that a guy in tune w/ the situation in NE is skeptical over his character. I think it's a valid concern. I think there's a lot of posters here that really want Spikes but if they had any reservation about him it would have to do with his character IMO. And that he's slow.
  19. So EJ Manuel's play this season hinges on the play of Chris Williams? Got it. Thanks for the insight. And the entire OL will now suffer as a result of Chris Williams being on the team. Very good. I was thinking it had something more to do with being healthy, the continued evolution of learning the hardest position in all of pro sports, his young core of WRs taking a positive leap forward, the fact Colin Brown or Doug Legursky aren't at LG etc. etc.
  20. That's not true. All in all, it was a pretty average FA class. What many people are failing to grasp (or choosing to ignore) is that with the exception of safety, the Bills have added depth and competition for starting jobs at three positions of weakness. Another strong draft, hopefully with more competition added to these areas, will only improve the roster. If EJ goes for 20 and 10, the Bills make the playoffs. Really quite simple. Then these signings will be lauded as savvy moves instead of crap buys. If the Bills don't make the playoffs, in reality, it'll have far less to do with Chris Williams than it does with EJ Manuel. This team is close, and Whaley knows it.
  21. I remember watching NFL Films or some Mic'd Up segment and saw Wilfork absolutely lay out Levitre in the open field. He was so much bigger than him and the funny thing was, it was Levitre who went for the hit and ended up on the turf. Big dude.
  22. Yeah, and I'll honest the new one didn't do too shabby over past couple of days. Pretty nice haul so far.
  23. That's hilarious, I don't remember that. Not the failure part, the commercial.
  24. Yup. I love Peyton and hope he gets another, but a harsh reality will set in next season or season after if they haven't won it all. Cool position to be in, no doubt. But it'll be a very sobering reality if they're ring-less in two years and have a bunch of 33-34 yr old guys making 7-10 mil. But like I said, cool position to be in.
