  1. This is not an EJ bashing thread, but rather a thought about what to do next year IF he craps out which I believe and hope he won't do. So talking with my sister who is a giants fan (yes, she is the black sheep of our family), people are thinking giants may not be willing to pay him the ridiculous contract (close to 100 mill) that recent qbs have gotten. I don't think he deserves a manning (edit: Peyton Manning) type contract , but it seems these contracts are more determined by the market for qbs rather than the actual talent level (see baltimore) Eli is inconsistent but has real talent and with him at the helm and with the roster that we currently have in buffalo (with some OL upgrades) this could be a Super Bowl caliber offense. Could someone in the bills organization do some shady off the record chatting with his agent to let him know that if the giants don't give him something that puts him in the range of his peers (top dollar contract), he could walk away and into a much more friendly fan environment (buffalo vs NYC), a stacked offense (with him there), a top tier D and a high level contract? Obviously hoping EJ shines and this is a non issue, but if it's clear by the end of season he is not improving this may be a way out of our predicament of not having either a franchise qb or a 1st round draft pick. Most likely, the giants wrap him up before he hits open market, but just some food for thought.
  2. Ha haa! Best reply I have seen in a while. Frankly, I had no desire to talk about blood thinners, amphetamines and concussions, and I am just marginally qualified to do so. That being said, ur reply wins and I bow to u as master of the board for exact 2 more posts. Until then, I'm fat ugly and and take the bus.
  3. Please explain this. And yes, I am in the medical profession so please feel free to be technical. Want to give u a chance to explain before calling this out as BS as I am not expert on concussions.
  4. Actually, I'm pretty sure that's what got him in trouble in the first place.
  5. Oh, man, please just stop. Ur embarassing urself. Go read the thread from earlier today about if there was one thing you could change about EJ and you 'll see why. Why can't people see satire and sarcasm even when it's dripping off the screen. Edit:my bad Special K, hadn't made it to the end of the thread before replying.
  6. was ur opinion not ridiculed enough in the FJ disgruntled comments thread that you had to start a new thread where it could really shine? CJ cannot run up the middle (or has not been able to do so in the gross majority of seasons he has been in the NFL). Until he can, he will never be a primary back. Brown has to prove himself in real NFL games the way fred has season after season before he can supplant him. dixon is a short yardage back who can also catch...not all purpose. FJ's role as a #1 or at least co-#1 back is secure for the time being. You do remember cj getting 2 yards in the first preseason game when he tried to go up the middle? Him leading the league in 20+ 40+ yard carries has ABSOLUTELY nothing with his ability to (or lack thereof) to run between the tackles. He can certainly hit the home run. No one can argue that. But he sucks at getting reliable yardage between the tackles (enough to move the chains). The type of every down ability that at least one of your primary back needs to have.
  7. I recently had the pleasure of seeing those socks, and let me tell you, they were a spectacular sight to see.
  8. before telling us to get a grip, go look at his stats. That game was one of the worst performances I have ever seen by a quarterback. i thought it was impossible to lose with the way our defense was playing, but Tuel made the impossible possible. 18-39 2 INT 1 TD, Less than 6 yard average (despite a 59 yd pass), rating 52 http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/16237/jeff-tuel
  9. His floor is suffering a career ending injury in our next training camp practice and never playing a down in the nfl. That is why we should not be mentioning him in a "next HOF" thread. Assuming he does play a full career, there is just no predicting how good someone will be (floor/ceiling) in the nfl (regardless of what they did in college) until they a few real nfl games. And yes I just knocked on wood turned around 3 times and performed an exorcism on the first sentence of my post.
  10. Ok. With all due respect to someone I think will be a tremendous player and MAYBE a HOFer, to even mention Sammy in this thread is ignorant and a disservice to all other players mentioned. As out current HOF inductee said, "he's a rookie, he hasn't done anything!". We always do this as bills fans, we just assume that just cause someone got drafted high they will be HOF caliber. Then we freak out when they become Mike Williams. Just remember that Dareus was drafted higher than Sammy and hasn't given any indication that he is a shoe in. I know Sammy has looked very promising in his first training camp, but to put him in a conversation with people who have completed or are executing high level long term careers is just ridiculous. And yes the punter deserves to be in. If u think the punter is unimportant to the game go back and watch what happens in games when punters get injured. More importantly, HOF is about being the best at ur position, and changing the game or the position. Marv was a great coach but maybe not the best of all time. And he got in rather quickly. Ray Guy was the best to ever play his position and changed the way the position was played. Just cause ur too clueless to understand the importance of a punter doesn't mean the player doesn't deserve the hall. I think the bigger reason it's taken this long is because there are so few punters in the league, and Kickers-punters often keep to themselves, so there's not many people voting for you.
  11. As someone who posts threads that are too long, I have to say, holy crap that was a long post to say what could have been said with just the tiny snippet of your original post. Appreciate the supporting info, but u must have said the above statement 3 times in ur post! We get it, no need to say it over and over again!! Btw, I agree that the news articles are suspicious, but often these guys just want to post stuff that sells and a hint that the Toronto group won't be allowed through sure will get a lot of reads. They could have gotten off the record quotes from trump and pegula's people and then just asked for an official response from Toronto group which would obviously be a no comment (this saying they contacted all 3 groups and only got info suggesting 2 were moving on). Total conjecture, but we ARE talking about it, which is the point of the article.
  12. The players may have changed, the administration and even the owner may have changed, but just like all great storied franchises of the NFL, what defines a team is its community, it's fans. What does the current Green Bay have to do with the Lombardi Green Bay other than its fans and community. We may be in the biggest playoff deficit in the nfl right now, but we've been here before and we stared that adversity in the face, and defied logic, statistic and probability and rode our spirit to the Super Bowl. Never forget that as awesome as Freddy, Kyle, and Wood may be, WE are the Buffalo Bills. Represent Bills fans, and as always..... Go Bills http://www.footballnation.com/content/the-day-the-bills-found-glory-remembering-the-comeback/12969/1/
  13. To be fair to that big kitty cat, menu is my fault. Chips and salsa are part of a self exorcism plan I have to rid myself of a curse that may have caused the bills decline since norwood's kick (it's either gonna work, or cause the season to completely tank... So we got that going for us) Wings are actually really good at Lincoln station even if it's no la nova/distillery (for u Rochester peeps like me) Veggie platter and hummus: it's gonna be a weekend during one of the nicest months Chicago weather wise, so I figure more than just hard core beer and wing people may be in tow. Also, I'm a doctor and I'm sick of hearing about people's constipation. Eat some damn fiber. Haa! To tell u the truth, the more people that sign up, the more I can squeeze the bar and a potential sponsor for. To be sure, the plan for the evening's events is still in progress and we'll post updates as we have them.
  14. Probably belongs in or threads, but since at least one performer is a bills fan, seemed as relevant as some of the other nonsense discussed during the offseason. Had to share. Check out the wife's shirt. (Sorry, posting on my phone so u may need to copy and paste link in to browser) Watching this as a relatively new dad to a daughter, I thought the following: 1. Which one of you crazy fools is this? 2. If it's not one of you, is this guy aware that is wife rocks for sporting a bills T on a video that will be shared all over the net? 3. Unless the person was otherwise an angel and never talked smack, I don't think I could ever accept my daughter dating, let alone marrying a pats fan or anyone that tried to make her not a bills fan. I would probably need to kill someone that tried to do that to my daughter. 4. My daughter is 2 so I probably don't need to worry about this for a little while. Similar thoughts?
  15. Hey guys, I'm the president of the largest Bills Backers group in Chicago. We're out of a bar named Lincoln Station. Delilah's is another great backers bar just down the street from us. We're in the process of trying to work out a game weekend package. Tickets are rough but we may have a connection. If not, we plan on at very least looking into hotel packages and hosting night before and pre game parties for the weekend. We have corporate connection (can't relase the name till official, but trust me, you all love their product) that we are working with to help throw the party and arrange transportation to and from the game. We will of course also be reaching out to Delilah's so we can join forces in hosting the Bills Nation. Will keep you posted as soon as things get a bit more concrete. Email me off the backers site if you have more questions, and as always, Go Bills!!
  16. Agree,i was really bummed when our corners were dropping like flies and we had justin rogers out there covering the air behind the jets receivers, but out of that disaster came leodis finally making things click amd aaron williams putting it all together at corner and safety. Not to mention the emergence of robey in nickel coverage. I feel like that "ragtag" group minus rogers actually took a step back when gilmore came back (until he fully recovered). Would have rather the coaches just let those guys continue to develop and wait till gilmore was 100% before returning. That being said, hindsight is 20/20 and based on his preseason and the end of last season, leaving what was possibly ur best corner on the bench in lieu of scrubs and second stringers probably seemed crazy at the time. Anyways, at the end of the day, seeing leodis williams and robey emerge during a season that was never gonna amount to much was a pleasant surprise this season.
  17. God its nice to hear an intelligent thought from time to time. agree completely.
  18. This. Not to mention 13 passing tds and 1 int (if i added the ones from this game correctly). I do agree with other posters, though. He does enjoy quite the stable of receivers and a system that he claims fits him perfectly, the best fit of any he's been a part of.
  19. Review stevies performance on any all-22 and you will see why you are completely incorrect. He gets ridiculous separation from his defenders with very subtle moves at the line. It is plenty of space to get the catch if the QB can stay upright and get the ball out to him. That's why he had >1000 yards the past few years (actually can't remember if he hit 1000 last year), with Gailey we had quick passes and fit could pretty much that in the first few seconds after the play started, stevie would be open. That's pretty much the exact same thing that wes welker does except he uses speed while stevie uses moves. And yes, he has had some critical drops, but what receiver that catches the majority of his teams passes doesn't? At least he was open enough to be in position to catch those passes, no one else seemed to be. Finally let's not forget that he has been the only WR threat we have had in the past 5 years so has performed while drawing (and beating) the opponents best corners. Just watch the tape, don't make overarching generalized statements. http://www.wgr550.com/JW-All-22-Review-Week-1/17263530 The truth about Stevie Johnson Stevie Johnson says that the Patriots don’t have anyone that can cover him. He’s right. I know, I know he dropped that one pass and that’s awful. He should own it. It’s on him. That said, if we’re looking ahead with these tapes, at what went wrong and what can go right, then it’s worth noting that Stevie burns almost everyone he faces when he’s one-on-one. Here’s a good example. Johnson lines up in the slot with Aqib Talib, the Pats top corner lined up in press coverage. Talib attempts to jam Johnson at the line and, as is usually the case, it doesn’t work. Johnson breaks free for a nice gain as Manuel finds him over the middle. Take a look at the time that Manuel has to survey the field here. It’s a consistent theme throughout the game. When he dropped back, he had plenty of time. Note something else here: The design of the play. Look at the routes. Remember them. Study them. You’ll see them again. Spoiler alert - check Robert Woods at the bottom of the screen.
  20. This can be skewed as follows: The the opponents offense scores more against our defense because they are on the field more against our defense than they are against other defenses. The question is how can our offense score more points against opponents defense despite NOT being on the field as much. My answer: long scoring plays that don't take a lot of time. We've definitely had several of those this year. Just speculation on this last point though.
