  1. 9 games into the 2010 season, Nix first draft has been a bust. Could it change-Sure, but right now, it looks bad. Spiller was not a good pick for a team with that many needs. The national pundits were right about Spiller being a bad pick at 9 for Buffalo. If the guy was that "electrifying" and "special" wouldnt he have shown a little something by now? He will become good, but we should have grabbed a linebacker...
  2. The Bills are not leaving Buffalo. San Diego Should Not Leave San Diego, even though they rarely sell out, they have been here 50 years. Viking should stay in Minneapolis. Jacksonville should move to L.A. The Rams are the other logical team to move BACK to L.A. Everyone else should stay where they are. St Louis is a baseball town anyways.
  3. Yes it is. I simply added the link and it played it...Pretty cool feature.
  4. Not sure if this was posted yesterday. Here is an interview with Nix from XX Sports Talk 1090 in San Diego with Darren Smith. Nothing groundbreaking here but interesting to hear from Nix just the same. Can't help but feeling for sports talk fans in Buffalo....They just cannot get any Bills personnel on WGR with any insight into the organization...Same goes for The Buffalo News. It is embarrassing. Interesting note. Prior to this interview with Nix, a member of the San Diego Padres strength and conditioning team was on with Darren Smith. He had just got off the stranded Carnival Cruise ship that was towed into San Diego Bay. He made a point to mention prior to the end of his interview about the boat experience that he was from Buffalo, and aware that Nix was coming up nex. He asked that they tell Nix that he stll believes! Pretty cool, and they do send his regards to Buddy at the end of this interview... http://www.xxsportsradio.com/common/global_audio/40/23890.mp3
  5. I call "IT" the mojo stick. It can ultimately only be wielded/possessed by one team in each sport come championship time. It has resided in Pittsburgh and Boston (Celtics, Pats, Red Sox all won multiple championships in the 2000's). It has also spent some time in Philly and New York too. Its a fickle B word and belive it or not, it once resided in Buffalo. It was around 1989-1994. We got TONS of lucky bounces back in those days...We need to figure out how to get "it" back!
  6. Honest question here...Has Pat Lalime EVER actually won a game for Buffalo? How on earth could The Sabres continue to use this guy as our #2. God they are cheap! He blows!
  7. Agree. I thought he would be perfect for us last winter, but the guy is clearly an a-hole. Washington is a total mess. I bet he gets fired after next season, or mid way through. Just sit back and enjoy watching the wheels fall off again in DC. As bad as we may be...Minnesota, Dallas and Washington are way worse off in my opinion. There is a reason Denver walked away and had to pay this guy for a couple of years to not coach their team....
  8. 710 Beach Club AKA Blind Melons IS NO LONGER THE BILLS CLUB IN SAN DIEGO. We were there for years and co-existed peacefully with Chicago Bears fans. Then a new owne came in this year and made it clear he only wanted Chicago fans. I assure you he is feeling it in his pocket. Despite the fact we have sucked for ten years we packed that place in. We would outnumber Bears fans every weeekend. It was a rat hole and the food sucked but we were loyal. The screwed us....Dont Go. You wont find any Bills fans there. Now we all go to PB Ale House on Grand Ave, right on the beach. Much better food, drafts, and hot waitresses who are friendly...no toothless Chicago hags here. And you can bring your kids. You might be able to catch the game next to Qualcomm at McGregors too, but it will be packed before the game. Gaslamp Tavern on 5th ave in downtown too carries Bills games andhas a decent following.
  9. This would absolutely 100% never happen. The NFL will not allow any affiliation whatsoever with THE NFL brand and any type of gambling and/or casino. They cant even run tv or radio ads in an NFL broadcast.
  10. Kelly is ok but he's no Sean Pufy Combs.
  11. Dude, give me a break...Puffy? Please...You think he'd be a good person to buy this team? Really? You think Ralph Wilson would ever sell that ass clown his team? You think the NFL Owners would allow him to own a team? You think the NFL would even allow a black guy to own a team, much less a guy like that? Highly unlikely. You're high, and if he ever did get the team he'd move them to L.A. in a second. That has to be the most stupid thing I have ever seen posted here. Tell him he can go buy into the Dolphins with JLo and Celine Deion.
  12. Dude that guy comes across like such a doosh. Thanks for making Buffalonians looked stupid on a national stage...ugh!
  13. Tom Petty..."Baby Even The Losers get Lucky Sometimes"
  14. I sent him a letter once showing a picture of the San Diego Bills backers so he knew what type of support he had out here. I was not looking for a response, but I offered some marketing suggestions for out of market Bills fans...A few years later a girl I know who works there told me that she had been handed a letter from MR Wilson that was from me...he read it and thought enough of it to pass it along to the marketing department...Point is, he does read the mail he recieves! Actually Wilson is quite technologically savvy. He texted a picture of his junk to Jenn Sterger years before Favre ever got the idea.
  15. I LIVE IN SAN DIEGO. HE'S FINISHED . HASNT COMPETED IN 3 YEARS. HE WAS INJURED, BUT IT IS OVER. TOO BAD, I HAVE TWO AUTOGRAPHED BALLS AND ONE HELMET SIGNED BY HIM. WONT BE WORTH ANYTHING NOW. HE ONCE LOOKED LIK ETHE NEXT RAY LEWIS.
  16. We were the number 8 team in attendance in 2009, and that was with only (7) home games, average in that extra Toronto game and we were the #7 team in attendance. Not bad for a team that hadnt done crap for 10 years. Shows that if you just give us a little hope (Terrell Owens was all it took in 2009) we are THE most supportive fans in the league. People who know NFL , know Buffalo has one of THE top fan bases in the league.
  17. I have never thought they would leave. Doesnt add up... * PROVEN brand with 50 years of heritage. You move them you have ZERO guarnatee of success with the "new" brand * NFL doesn't want to move the team * Newer cities with better climates cant market their team effectively, nor sell out: Tampa, Jacksonville, Carolina. San Diego, Arizona and Oakland will have more blackouts than the Bills this year * L.A. wont support a team. It hasnt in the past, it wont in the future. It is a Lakers, Dodgers, USC, UCLA town and they dont care about an NFL Team * The only thriving state in the USA is Texas. They wont be getting a team with the exception of maybe San Antonio. California is a mess * San Diego, Jacksonville, Oakland and Minnesota have a much better chance of moving. The only team that should be moved is Jacksonville if a team must move * Maybe there is a reason why Ralph said the team will be sold to the highest bidder aside from greed. Maybe it is a threat to the NFL, maybe it gets Buffalo's butt in gear as a city, maybe it increases the value of the team for his family in negotiations * Finally, an old classmate of mine from Orchard Park who I ran into at the Allentown Art fest, who works for the Bills, told me about 2 years ago, with a wink and a nod "Trust me...The Bills are not going anywhere". Take it for what its worth, but I tend to believe her....
  18. Im happy to see he at least spoke up. Yes it is a fluff piece and he needs to take full blame~ which he does...He also needs to understand that no one wants to play or coach or manage here because of him. The team is a wreck. Forget about a 3 year plan to get things back on track. If he dies in year 2 or 3 , they team gets sold and everyone is fired and they start all over again-perhaps in a different city. His biggest problem is that he has no succession plan in place (That we know of), if the team were sold, any of his current hires would be blown out - it is the reason so many people passed on the head coaching job. He'd be better off coming out and laying out a plan for the future, espcially when it comes to the teams future ownership. That way we could at least get the right personnel in place who would feel a sense of job security moving forward. That is his fault and now its to the point where the word is out and no one wants to work there. It wasnt always that way. They once had the most respected front office in the league.I dont even dislike Ralph..I actually like him, but I wish he would just do the right thing and announce the teams succession plan.
  19. You are absolutely right. The thing is that when you go 7-9 you are always sort of "In it" each season until about week 12 or so...They are blowing this thing up, and I believe there is a blueprint there for player personnel down the road. I wonder about front office and coaching though. Despite the record, there are some very good players on our team-nevertheless, Modrak has failed. The defense is horrid. No way you could go into 2011 with this DC and be taken seriously. The organization is one big enigma from top to bottom.
  20. Niners are a much better team than we are. They have no luck but should have won tonight and should have beat New Orleans. Singletary is no head coach though. He is a good DC, but is in over his head. He will be fired at years end. We should pick him up as our assistant HC/D coordinator in a heartbeat! I think we are better than Carolina though....
  21. I like your optimism and maybe youre right. If you think about Bill Polian-John Butler-AJ Smith-Buddy Nix, it all sort of comes full circle with Nix part of that GM tree, back in Buffalo. If we are using the San Diego Chargers blueprint (Which is based upon the old Polian/Bills blueprint) we drafted Spiller as San Diego, with their #1 pick drafted LaDanian #5 in 2001 in Round 1. That was their first building block. Spiller is our 1st building block Chargers then had Brees fall to them the same year in round 2, and then the got lucky when Manning declined to go to San Diego in 2004. They ended up getting the QB they really wanted-Rivers plus another first round pick from The Giants which became Shawn Merrimen and then things fell into place from there. There was some luck along the way...Antonio Gates was a walk on basketball player with no football experience, Michael Turner was a stud back up to LT..... By the way, when thinking about the Kelsey extension and wondering why/how? It reminds of a very marginal (at best ) player in San Diego named Luis Castillo. They guy basically does nothing, yet he gets a nice extension while AJ Smith lets playmakers like Cromartie, LT-walk, Merrimen and Vincent Jackson and Jamal Williams get no love, and no new contract. I guess Castillo must be a team guy like Kelsey. Not sure I agree whith that philosophy, but it appears that this is similar to what Nix just did with Kelsey. Maybe you do have to hit rock bottom, but the one thing that pisses me off more than anything is the fact that Wilson couldnt have come out at some point and just said..."Hey, I cant promoise anything will or will not happen with this team when I die, but because of your 50 years of loyalty and passion...Buffalo-Im doing everythig I possibly can to make certain this team stays in WNY for another 50 years...because you deserve it!"
  22. A few weeks ago the owner of radio group I work with was removed from his position as CEO of our comapny. The one guy who we all believed could not be removed was escorted out of the building and will not be returning. The big surprise of it all was that we all thought he had a majority share of the company. Turns out he really didnt, someone completely unbeknownst to us had the controlling shares and the board made a decision to remove our boss. No one knows the real details behind the decision. He was a very good leader, smart and innovative. He started the company and we are quite succesful. However, he still wanted to run the radio business like it was 1984 when it was at its pinnacle. It has changed and with those changes comes new ways of doing business. He wanted to hold on to the old ways.I feel bad for him. He is a great guy. But Im optimistic that we'll have much success as we move into the next phase of this business which includes smart phone portability, on demand, online, digital and streaming, and social networking components. Point is this...Ralph Wilson is out of touch and trying to run his business like its 1960. He is a good guy, and for the most part was loyal and did a very good job developing this brand (Like my boss did).Unfortunatley, nothing about this organization is clicking any more, or running like it should in a modern era . Perhaps there is another owner involved we dont know about? Is there anyone else who has a stake in The Bills other than Wilson? Probably wouldnt matter because there's little chance that Ralph does not own majority share I suppose, but right now would be a good time for someone to step in and take control of the organization and get it moving in the right direction again. Too bad Ralph never had a son.....Or better yet, that he doesnt recognize that it is time to turn over the reigns. To sell the team to someone responsible. Someone who will allow the team to re-develop a sense of dignity while allowing Wilson to have a sense of peace and maintain his legacy. Someone who will do the right things and keep the team where it belongs- In WNY.
  23. We should really bring back Craig Nall too. Sign him to 7 years $49 million. He never got a real chance, but seems like a nice guy.
  24. Dude, It is not cool to have the same hairstyle as Justin Bieber. He's a 15 year old wimpy singer. You are an NFL football player. You could tell Tom Brady the same thing but he's a winner and bangs Giselle. Be a man for gods sake. This is the same guy who said his favorite actor is Dakota Fanning. Good riddance wussy!
  25. Look , You are missing the point here. Everyone is so quick to say "Mort is bashing The Bills". The truth is that no one ever really wants to come out and say anything bad about an owner, coach, organization etc because the NFL is a relatively small business and if you want to keep a job in The NFL, you are better off keeping your mouth shut and staying friendly with everyone. You never know when you'll be working with the guy you bashed. Many businesses are like this. Without coming out and saying verbatim "Ralph is out of touch and his assistants are jackasses who meddle with the real football people", Mort is saying what every real NFL insider already knows: "Ralph is out of touch and his assistants are jackasses who meddle with the real football people" Folks-This is as close as you will get to the real honest truth from an insider, and the real reasons why the Bills are a horrible organization. Thank you Mort for your honest insight! Yes-Donahoe sucked. He has yet to land another job in The NFL. He may have micro managed and created a bad environment, but the reason why he did it was because the guys on top of him were doing the same thing to him. The negativity started at the top and rolled downhill. We are a mess. You know it, I know it, every NFL insider knows it. Giving Kelsey a $24 million extension is the same as Ralph making Russ Brandon, a marketing guy, the GM of an NFL team. Kelsey and Brandon said and did the right things, kissed the right butt and gave the impression that they were team guys. Jauron did the same thing and got an extension after having won nothing, an dnever even finishing above .500. Apparently performance isnt a criteria looked at when they give raises at One Bills Drive.
