  1. I bet you are a blast at parties.
  2. How bout lightening up a bit, hmmm? I saw a thread on Obama quotes and I thought I'd post a few Bush quotes that always make me laugh. Sorry. I'm all business now. No laughing, no fun, no humor, no games, no playing. I have my serious face on now I promise.
  3. Yes. I see that Obama quotes aren't funny but Bush quotes are.
  4. For quotes given by presidents who don't can't talk good no one is ever going to beat GWB. My favorite three: "There's an old saying in Tennessee — I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee — that says, fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can't get fooled again." —Nashville, Tenn., Sept. 17, 2002 "Too many good docs are getting out of the business. Too many OB-GYNs aren't able to practice their love with women all across this country." —Poplar Bluff, Mo., Sept. 6, 2004 "Families is where our nation finds hope, where wings take dream." —LaCrosse, Wis., Oct. 18, 2000
  5. Come on now. When the opportunity to resign a wide reciever who can't catch comes to you, you have to jump all over it. But seriously, he did seem competent on special teams, so I would guess this a near vet's minimum deal, which is fine by me, so long as he never ever takes the field with the offense.
  6. But its not big news. Obama has no serious democratic challenger so the Democratic primary is simply a formality and thus it gets exactly the coverage it deserves, namely none. The fact that Obama only got 57% of the primary vote in Oklahoma (57% of roughly 100000 votes) in a state in which he got trounced in 2008, and will again get trounced in 2012 is merely trivia.
  7. I agree with you that draft picks have become somewhat overvalued, but the bolded part has to be a joke right? By the way, remember the first year Snyder took over the Skins and spent an assload of money on aging vets? I think they went 8-8 that year. I don't think its possible to be competitive without strong drafts. edit: misread the "young" part.
  8. Fair enough, that may be what it takes to move up to 2 (although I don't understand your point about Mario Williams). And your right -- it is a QB and not a WR that one would have to move up to get. But if I was in charge of the Rams and I was offered something like what you described I wouldn't be able to say yes fast enough. Getting a proven player and that kind of draft haul would be a great step in straightening out the franchise. I understand being excited about RGIII, but he's one unproven player. There is no such thing as a can't miss prospect and high draft picks flame out all the time. If you take that kind of gamble and miss, you're screwed for several years.
  9. Last year the Falcons gave up the first (27), second, and fourth round picks, and future first and fourth round picks to move up from 27 to 6. If that is the ballpark of what it would take to move up from 10 to 2 it only makes sense that Nix would interview RGIII. I think the talk of 3 1s and 2 2s for RGIII is silly fan speculation; no team in their right mind would give up that kind of haul for a single unproven player. In reality I think the Rams are going to get a package closer to what the Falcons gave up.
  10. I haven't seen any discussion yet about the possibility of using the 'transition tag' on SJ. Is there any reason this couldn't be used on him? It guarantees him the average of the top 10 salaries at his position (rather than 5 using the franchise tag), and while it allows SJ to negotiate with other teams, the Bills have the right to match any offer. Given that the Bills are so far under the cap, I don't see how another team could 'poison pill' the contract. Seems like a good solution to me.
  11. OK, done. No more dreamin for me. Hey, look on the bright side. Only 4 more years and you can start driving yourself to the games!
  12. I lurk at message boards for the other NFL teams from time to time, and it seems that every single one of these sites has posters that have mock drafts with 1) player that he likes in round one and 2) vin curry in round two. I don't know anything about Curry, but since everyone thinks they can "steal" him in round two, that means that he is going to be drafted in the first round.
  13. Has Williams been taking pointers from Leodis? Completely blew the game on two occasions for the 49ers. He should call up Cundiff; the two of them can go out, get loaded, and gently weep into their beers.
  14. Why do you assume this? If I was playing on that team I would be furrious with SJ for pulling that ****. Both times he did that this year it cost both yards and momentum. I've played on teams where the best player was benched, and it can work the other way; the team is fed up with a diva act and appreciates the coach putting an end to it.
  15. I'd like to submit an entry of 6. 6 new excuses. What does the winner get? edit: by the way, what are the "more ways than one" ways in which the game is over to which the title of this thread refers? And what is the game? You didn't even state the first way in which the games is over. I'm terribly confused by this thread right now.
  16. No way is RGIII going to be available. He might not even be available at 3. The question is do you take whoever is (at best) the 3rd best QB in the draft? I say absolutely not. Too many needs. Fix up the D. I want some beast LBs, which might actually be there when we pick.
  17. this is my biggest frustration with chan. We have a very good run game, and Chan insists on passing 35+ times a game, every game. Its one thing when you're down 20, but we were up 20 and still throwing 75% of the time. I long for a smash mouth attitute type coach. I'm not sure they exist anymore in todays finese, pass-happy NFL offense, but I still want one.
  18. Like when Brady missed a wide open Ochocinco earlier in the game?
  19. how about this theory: Chan gets 21 quick effyou points on the patsies, just to prove they could do it, then benches his best player to throw the game and improve their draft position. Of course, SJ would have been told by Gailey to intentionally draw the excessive celebration penalty. Its all just one big script being played out just how Gailey envisioned it.
  20. I didn't see the Chan's post game, but if he threatened to bench SJ if he did this again, it makes SJ's actions even worse IMO. Fitz hit him right in the numbers.
  21. Come on now. Chan didn't bench him the first 10 times he did this.
  22. Win or lose, I predict no fewer than 27 new SJ threads at TBD immediately after the conclusion of this game.
  23. worst call of the year. perfect coverage.
  24. Fitz had all day too... I think Martin broke off his route.
  25. what the hell was byrd doing? looked like he was trying to throw a block for BJGE.
