Dude, we sounded like stalkers Tuesday afternoon when we started talking about jet logs. I work with some of the most rabid UNC alumni and fans, who are known to follow the movements of 16 and 17 year old high school recruits. I mentioned the whole chartered jet thing at about 3:00pm Tuesday, and got a look like I had three heads. So while they're all sympathetic to my plight right now, and understand what's going on, I'm not sharing any more details of how closely this is being watched.

It was a charter jet, so that won't help. Does Ralph own a private plane though?

Honestly, that was my first thought. Things got pretty much settled late in the day, so arrangements were made to fly Ralph in to hand out the largest contract in team history. My opinion, nothing else.

Duke's football coach, Dave Cutcliffe, was Peyton's coach at Tennessee. Peyton's been here a lot this offseason, was even on the floor at the Duke-UNC basketball game a few weeks ago.

I was about to say the exact same thing, except with "Chapel Hill, NC" instead of "Virginia Beach." I work at UNC, so everyone around me is going bananas over the NCAA tournament, bracket talk, etc. I'm like the anti-social kid in the corner, rocking back and forth, listening to WGR on my iPhone, about to break the F5 key on my keyboard. LOL, I just realized this will probably be the first time in years I don't have a bracket, because I've been consumed by free agency. I don't even know who all the 1-seeds are, other than Syracuse and Carolina.

"Shred" may be a bit dramatic, but you get my point. Also, agreed re: Meachem. We can find a 600-yard receiver deep in the draft. We ain't gonna find an instant world-class pass rush quite so easily.

One shred of hope I'm hanging onto is the timeline of Barnett's signing last year. IIRC, he spent a night, had a visit with the Lions also scheduled, toured training camp/facilities and met with staff and players and decided to sign here.
