  1. No thank you. I usually agree with the maxim that Any Publicity is Good Publicity, but we don't need publicity. We need laser-like focus on improving the product on the field, getting it done on the field, and making the playoffs. Nothing else matters.

  2. Wow. Just wow. I hate the over-used term but this has surely been the perfect storm.

1] A guy like Mario becoming available in FA which rarely happens

2] Ralph deciding to open the pocketbook.

    3] Wanny becoming the DC

4] The Bills biggest need being pass rusher

5] The offense doing enough to create excitement that they could do well with a good D

6] Going hard for Mario immediately

7] Great weather and deers in the backyard when Mario came (along with him being a "Buffalo" kind of small town guy)

8] Signing Mario which supercharged the excitement around the city, team and league

9] Guys like Anderson liking what they see and wanting to join the party

You forgot: 1a] Plenty of other teams who would have wanted Mario were unable to chase him because of limited cap space.

    Can't wait for this season!

  3. Guys, take the humor and light-heartedness over to pixyland.org. This board is for Serious Football Analysis by Serious Fans only. It doesn't matter how giddy you're feeling over what could turn out to be one of the Bills' best offseasons ever.

That said, depth and talent. Keep adding it. Anderson's met with three other teams already, obviously hasn't committed, and we might have the most exciting defenseive situation of all for him. Yeah, Baltimore's good, but they ain't getting any younger.

  4. If the NFL had a minor league system similar to baseball, Tebow is an ideal candidate for AAA.

It does. It's called the NCAA. He kicked ass there, but you only get 4-5 years.

Do we even know for certain Tebow will be traded? There are two things he's terrible at: Reading defenses and throwing the ball. Who better to sit behind and learn from than Pey-Pey?

  5. I always wondered if the Evans trade wasn't tested on us here last offseason. That original thread popped up and contained a very firm discussion on why we should trade him. Not much resistance was given in that thread as it drew in a couple of the let's trade Lee guys. True resistance to the idea only came when word started to leak that we were indeed shopping him. Maybe Buddy reads here or has someone monitoring the boards for fan mood, etc. Ok might be a bit farfetched but remember this is the socialmedia age, any serious business monitors and manages it's related socialmedia in one way or another. If only they'll listen to the senator this year.... 19-0 baby!

I'm not sure they're floating trade ideas on message boards, but somebody in the PR office certainly keeps an eye on twitter, social media, etc. That even came up in one of the recent articles linked on the front page of TBD, about how the PR folks monitor twitter to see what kinds of rumors are floating out there (and what players are saying). I doubt Buddy Nix or Russ Brandon are personally checking out what we have to say, but some young flackeys/interns almost certainly are.

  6. I do remember reading somewhere a while back (I think it was in the Atlanta paper) that Chan somehow knows Tebow's dad, and that was part of the reason the Bills did consider, but ultimately passed on drafting him.

There's just so much noise unrelated to football that comes along with Tebow. I have no problem with him or his beliefs per se, but I think to bring in a one-man media circus while this franchise is at a critical point in its rebuilding would be a mistake.

EDIT: Also it seems that article puts us at the top of list based on the opinion of the author and nothing else, right?

  7. +1 One-year-wonder for friggin UNC and it wasn't even his senior year... Plus he's soft from what I saw in the senior bowl. Oh and he has disgusting brands on his arms which I would rather not look at ever again.

I've gotta agree. I work at UNC, and know people associated with athletics who are always high on their own players. But even they have concerns about Coples' drive and determination. He's got the physical skills, no doubt, but maybe not the will to succeed in the NFL. Could he turn it around? Yes. Is he worth risking the #10 overall pick? No.
