  1. I did read somewhere (sorry no link) that he was consistently whaling the hell out of the ball, out of the end zone, and had to be told to dial it back a little so the return guys could actually get some reps.
  2. I just have to wonder what kind of "heart ailment" he could have had that only sidelined him for a year. Major surgery and rehab is one thing, but issues with the ticker are serious business. Any more medically inclined TBDers have any ideas? To my knowledge, exactly what he had going on was never made public, right?
  3. That makes sense, but wouldn't they do that for other new guys on the roster, besides the big names obviously. I think everyone knows who Mario is, but maybe not random waiver wire pickups.
  4. So is the name on the helmet a rookie thing? Any purpose for it, or is it just so the vets know who to haze?
  5. People, people. It's gotta be REPO MEN. When you don't pay attention to the bills, they come repossess your things. Offseason nickname championship!
  6. For all those who either don't get that KSK is a humor blog, or don't think they're funny in the first place, I submit this. A piece from today on the celebrity minority owners of the Miami LOLphins: Click here.
  7. Did he give any signs of having character issues in college? If so, that may have taken him right off of Buddy's board regardless.
  8. Yeah, it doesn't sound like money changes hands until the ticket actually changes hands. That seems even safer than eBay, and people buy and sell crap there all the time.
  9. Exactly. This story was going to be written no matter where Vince Young landed.
  10. I think someone posted an article about this recently. Under the new CBA, 3rd rounders are actually becoming complicated to sign. Something about 1st and 2nd rounders being slotted and their salaries predictable. Then also something about 4-7 being quicker to negotiate with because they really don't get much at all, relatively speaking. So 3rd rounders fall somewhere in the middle between "Gettin' PAID" and "Lucky to Be Here." While they don't end up making crazy money, they're scrapping for whatever they can get.
  11. You're right that golf and throwing mechanics are very different, but overhand throwing is NOT a natural motion, ask any orthopedic surgeon. Our arms are not designed to move that fast, in that direction, over and over and over again. It's why pitchers' shoulders and elbows always break down.
  12. I don't know, pro athletes seem to tweak their mechanics all the time, especially pitchers and hitters in baseball. Sure, old habits are hard to break, but these aren't weekend warriors we're talking about. They're highly paid professionals who can put their entire focus into something as seemingly mundane as the angle of your arm in a throwing motion. Sure, some of the pros are better at adjusting mechanics than others, but everything we know about Fitz says that he's not just smart. He's a humble guy with a good deal of humility who had to work against all kinds of lowered expectations to get where he is today. I don't think his ego will be getting in the way of adjusting his mechanics and improving his game.
  13. If there's one thing Fitz is world class at, it's taking information and synthesizing it. Like how Chan has said he only ever needs to explain things to him once and he's got it down. (He's a pretty smart guy. Went to Harvard, dontcha know.) If he can translate that to his mechanics in his work with Coach Lee, that can only mean good things.
  14. Good for him. The superstition and attachment players have for numbers can be a little ridiculous sometimes.
  15. I think what the new CBA allowed for was the third QB to be active on game day, not like before, when they could only come into the game due to injury. So, that makes it smart to carry a jack-of-all-trades QB like Smith, or even Teblow.
  16. Ryan Fitzgibbons and Steve Young. Great QB tandem? Or GREATEST QB tandem?
  17. Anyone go for the unlimited sales this morning? I wonder how close to selling out key games are, opener, Pats, the night game.
  18. Gotcha... But when are the individual game tix purchased separately through the presale and paid in full freed up?
  19. So I picked up some extra individual game tickets this morning, but I noticed in my account manager that I can't forward or sell any of them yet, my seasons or the individual game tix. Is that because they're not barcoded yet or whatever? This is my first year as a season ticket holder, but I'd like to unload the ones I'm not going to use sooner rather than later.
  20. There was a great NY Times piece on exactly this topic a few years ago. Many subsidized stadiums had debt that lived far beyond their usefulness. Link: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/09/08/sports/08stadium.html?pagewanted=all
  21. I had a good laugh last year when somebody referred to him as "Gucci Onabagel."
  22. Always nice to meet a frater in the bond. (SUNY Geneseo- Sigma Tau #113)
