  1. Like a scene out of the movie "Airplane!", everyone is lining up for a chance to smack Mario Williams.

Former Houston teammate J.J. Watt is the latest: http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/09/11/watt-says-texans-wont-miss-mario-williams/

I'm waiting for Richard Simmons and the Pope to chime in by week's end.

Well, you know what they say. "leg 'er down a smack 'em yak 'em!"

(I seriously love the Airplane! references on TBD this week.)

  2. I was a junior in college up there. I worked at a bar, and one of my buddies there was a huge Rams fan. So I was happy for him when the Rams eventually won and happy for all of us when the Titans eventually lost.

My then-girlfriend is my now-wife, and while we have since moved 600 miles away from WNY, we carry our Bills fandom with us. Like a cross.

We have a little boy now, and I'm starting to think I should let him make his own decisions about what football team to root for when he grows up.

  3. But there is a little blip of Bills @ Jets for Columbia, SC?

    That one is weird too.

I bet it's because of Stephon Gilmore. Columbia is where USC is located. Very often a big college town will carry a seemingly random NFL matchup if it features a highly-touted rookie/youngish player who played there. Case in point, here in Central North Carolina, we were treated to lots of Chargers games several years back because Philip Rivers played his college ball at NC State.

EDIT: PTR beat me to it.

  4. It's times like this I'm glad to have the ticket for more than just Bills games. For the late game, GB/SF will be much more compelling than watching the Panthers/Bucs locally here in NC. (Farting sounds, thumbs down.)

LOL, from that map it looks like even Tampa Bay doesn't want to carry the Tampa Bay game.

Also, I always like the seemingly random areas of the country that get seemingly random games. Usually with a little sleuthing you can figure out why. Like Colorado covering Bills/Jets, most likely because of Tebow. NoCal getting Colts/Bears because of Luck. I'm trying to figure out why a small corner of southeastern Virginia/northeastern NC will carry Colts/Bears... Is one of the players from Virginia Beach or something?

  5. You forgot to mention that Maybin had to line up offsides to simulate Mario's speed rush. Apparently Maybin isn't fast enough.

Ryan would make a good politician. He's doing a good job managing expectations for Mario. With all his praise and fear and preparation, anything short of a five-sack performance by Mario will be looked at as a victory in gangrene nation.

Mario has taken dumps that are bigger than Maybin! :w00t:

Mario has chunks of guys like Maybin in his stool.

  6. Quoted from John's article (emphasis my own):

"I haven't given that any thought. I may have money, but I don't have a printing press," Pegula said by phone. "I have lots of commitments in other places. We're still in the oil and gas business. And as you know, the price of gas is down. We've got these other commitments that we're moving forward with. And the Bills have an owner."

I don't think Pegula wants to be talking about this until Ralph moves onto that great luxury box in the sky.

Exactly what I was thinking. That's the line everyone seems to use when talking about this issue, and we know from reports that there has been a lot going on behind the scenes.

  7. I remember when we were 5-2 last year, someone posted the mathematical odds of making the playoffs at that point was something like 72%. So, I'll wait until we actually get there and not worry about the prognosticators.

As a wise man once said: A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush behind a paper tiger with feet of clay sitting in a straw house of cards that has cried wolf once too often.
