Are the Bills/Stevie gonna regret this photo posted on FB?

...so then you admit the definition of "socially acceptable" is a sliding, subjective scale containing many shades of gray. Or should all of society draw the same line as you in acceptable use of the term "retard." -
My wife tells a similar great story about Doug Flutie. Back during what might have been the very first SJFC training camp, she worked as a teacher for special needs elementary school kids. These kids were very, very mentally and physically challenged, almost all in wheelchairs. Anyway, they took a field trip to Fisher for camp one afternoon. At the end of practice on a blazing hot summer day, Flutie walked over and spent time with each and every one of those kids. He took every picture, signed every autograph, spent a few minutes with each kid, and they were all just over the moon about it, as were the teachers and parents. He was a 100% class act all the way, going far above and beyond, even when you consider most athletes probably won't just totally blow off a bunch of special needs kids. It's why I proudly rock a Flutie jersey to this day.

Mine comes from some dumb story online a few months back about what NFL logos would look like if they played in England. I thought the "Williamson Williamchester Williams III" thing was pretty funny. Plus, monocles rule. http://daveartlocker.blogspot.ca/2013/02/what-if-all-nfl-logos-were-british.html?m=1

Mike and Mike "Two-a-days" July 29
jimmy10 replied to Meatloaf Sandwich's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Except when we are winning. I distinctly remember a lot of warm, fuzzy love from national media when we started 5-2 a few years back. Dan Patrick in particular, I'll never forget what he said about the NFL being a better league when storied, small market teams like Buffalo are playing well. Bottom line, winning = good pub. Until we do something beyond floundering and finishing 4th, that's all we'll get credit for. -

I didn't know all the 17th century New England puritans migrated to Western New York. -

Yeah, b-b-b-but... Naughty words! Kind of! -
I bet OP skipped mandatory minicamp too. Can we have a thread about that?

Watching it now. Pretty sure this game is why I've watched 15 years of blowouts like an idiot.

Byrd Skipping mandatory mini-camp
jimmy10 replied to mitchmurraydowntown's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Anyone think there is a pissing-contest element to this as well? Brand new rookie GM, his first big contract issue vs. the savvy, experienced agent with a reputation for protracted negotiations and contract disputes? I worked for Duke for a while down here in NC, an am reminded of the time the current president of the university came in, with no experience at schools with big-time athletic programs. Lo and behold, he's barely unpacked the boxes in his office before Coach K waves in his face an offer to go coach the Lakers. Coach K then leveraged himself a real sweetheart deal, with a lifetime appointment to the business school faculty upon his retirement from coaching. Bottom line, these alpha males are no strangers to d*ick-waving contests. I wonder how much of it is that. -
Another reason I genuinely like Rex Ryan

He's a loudmouth Irish guy, I'm a loudmouth Irish guy, and it turns out we're both baseball nerds too. There are definitely people I dislike more. -

Somebody check the flight plans for every charter jet currently sitting in Buffalo and wherever Byrd lives. -
Flying Elvis Head is terrible. It looks like a credit card logo.

Are we in some kind of Bills news blackout?
jimmy10 replied to Ennjay's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's the quietest time in the NFL calendar. If players aren't, say, shooting and dumping bodies in industrial parks a mile from their McMansions, there's not much of anything else going on. -
Mario Williams: Is a Pattern Forming?
jimmy10 replied to Lurker's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Are you and your colleagues among only a very few people in the world capable of doing your job? No? Well, there you go. Listen, I get that some prefer players with high moral standards. But the "If I showed up at my cubicle monkey job X acting like these pro athletes" argument is about the dumbest there is and betrays a complete lack of a grasp on even the simplest of economic concepts. -

Right, long spectacular football career, commercials, movies. He was pretty beloved. -
Mario Williams: Is a Pattern Forming?
jimmy10 replied to Lurker's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
How is there anything wrong with this? Did people cry havoc and let slip the dogs of bitchiness last year when Mario put up the Super Mario Brothers graphic that featured him throwing fireballs at Tom Brady? This is much ado about nothing. I'm not even a gun enthusiast, but Mario has been pretty explicit about how he handles guns safely and within the boundaries of the law (I remember him talking about parts of his firearm collection he couldn't bring to NY because of various state laws). If the NFL even has a gun problem, Mario ain't part of it. -
Is Jim Kelly ill ?? (update - has cancer)
jimmy10 replied to mitchmurraydowntown's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Passing along the opinion of a professional medical speech therapist I may or may not be married to... We watched the entire press conference Jim did for the Bills website. Bottom line, she is really, really impressed with how well he is doing. You can see a good bit of neuropraxis (basically temporary paralysis) on the upper left side of his mouth from all the nerves being moved around during surgery and it manifests itself in a good bit of slurred speech. But basically, he is kicking all kinds of ass if he could get up in front of cameras and talk almost nonstop for 10+ minutes just a few weeks removed from that major surgery. She has worked with some pretty big tough patients (some former pro athletes) and she's pretty sure he had to go take a nap after such a Herculean effort. Bottom line: F-#* Cancer. Jim Kelly kicks ass. -

No doubt. Rehabbing from anything like that requires immense physical and mental toughness and a positive mental attitude. He's the man for the job. So glad to see him doing well. -

Just the fact that he's out there at all putting his face in public says a lot about the good care he has received and the amazing advances in treating this type of cancer that can so drastically alter your appearance, ability to speak, etc. I haven't seen pics, but my guess is he's lost a lot of weight. -

From what I can tell, that's pretty standard for this type of cancer. My buddy is a dentist and my wife a medical speech therapist and both were explaining it to me. They can do pretty amazing things with prosthetics and rehab therapy these days. The key is to make sure they got all the cancer. F&$* cancer, man. Kick it's ass Jimbo! -
As someone who works in the non-profit world, I think an excellent name for our potential 1-2 WR punch is the Robert Woods/Johnson Foundation

My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw Hernandez pass out at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it's pretty serious.
