  1. Just FYI for anyone still thinking about it. I called yesterday to cancel Directv for real-real because we are moving back to Rochester. Right off the bat the guy offered me Sunday ticket for free. I told him no thanks, we're moving back to our favorite team's broadcast area and won't need it. (And really, with the plethora of options on Netflix and Hulu streaming through Apple TV, I thnk we're going to get by just fine without cable.) But it seems it's still on the table as an option if you threaten to cancel, so go for it.
  2. That's actually kind of interesting. I had no idea the helmets our guys wore last weekend were the usuals, just with the decals switched out.
  3. What a great point. Much more so than being on either end of a ho-hum blowout.
  4. Fitz went to Harvard??? Also, I've bought my ticket for the EJ love train. I was as hesitant as anybody to annoint the kid. Not necessarily down on him or thinking he wouldn't amount to much, I just wanted to see some flashes of brilliance before I went all in. I think I'm all in now.
  5. Thanks! ...Oh.
  6. I wore my newly acquired B. Smith #78 jersey for the first time, and his single game sack total got beat. Also, my wife and I made spinach-artichoke dip. Both rituals are clearly the jolt this team needed and will continue until further notice.
  7. Yup. Between the Bills game today and Breaking Bad tonight, I don't think I've ever experienced a more intense afternoon and evening of television ever.
  8. Knob Creek Rye. Think I'll treat myself to a glass while watching Breaking Bad.
  9. Guys, stop posting so much. It's slowing down the Last Post Wins thread.
  10. I knew we shouldn't have drafted MC Skat Kat.
  11. D is definitely getting after $cam.
  12. Dayum. Nice kick. He coulda made that one from 60 out.
  13. I was particularly impressed when he told us Steve Smith had "11,000 yards last week."
  14. I love watching Mario chase down QBs. It's like a National Geographc video of a lion chasing a zebra.
  15. Everyone, please stop posting in these threads until the season is over. My anecdotal and misguided opinion is that we are putting too much strain on the Internet tubes.
  16. I can't imagine it's much of an issue, especially on a text-only forum. If anything, the crush during game time comes from the number of people trying to access the site at one time, regardless of the number of pages in the thread.
  17. The way I always put it to people: both WNY and NC have a 2-3 month period of weather when you're better off spending most of your time inside. Up there, it's winter. Down here, it's summer.
  18. Interesting that BUF and Cuse make that list but not Rochester? What is Rochester at risk of? Methane poisoning from all the garbage plates?
  19. Yeah, we live next to a creek and NC has many venemous snakes. Saw a 3-foot copperhead while out walking the dog a few years ago. I'm not scared of the snake as much as I'm scared of what they can do to a dog or small child. Ha, yeah, those too. I get a few mounds in my yard each year. Found a fantastic and uber CHEAP way to deal with them though. Just boil up a huge stock/lobster pot of water, pour on the mound and voila: Fire ant soup.
  20. They'll be a breath of fresh air after 7 years in NC. Picture the hottest, most humid 95+ degree day WNY might have experienced a couple times in the last few summers. Now live that day every single day for literally two months straight, and that's summer in NC. It blows. It's way easier to stay warm in the WNY winter than cool off in the NC summer.
  21. Exactly. Having graduted from the SUNY system and worked for the UNC system, you're absolutely right. And I corrected a typo in my original message, private school tuition here in NC is way MORE than the property tax we'll be paying when we move back to ROC. And it's not as if you pay double the school taxes once you have two kids in the district. We're pleased as punch to be making the move back. I have a lot of friends at a similar stage in life planning to make the move back to WNY for many of the same reasons. Schools, family, culture, etc.
  22. Thirty-one team planes crashing into each other?
  23. The only time I noticed EJ egging the crowd on was when the clock had run down on the 3rd quarter and there was a break in action.
  24. The high taxes pay for something, people forget that. I'm much more comfortable sending my kids to just about any suburban school district in NY vs. NC. And what I'd pay in private school tuition in NC is way MORE than the property taxes in WNY. Edit: corrected more/less typo
  25. We are moving back to ROC after 7 years in NC. Schools are a big motivating factor. Family too.
