  1. Because he got steamrolled by a very large man moving at a high rate of speed. Decades from now, wherever he is, Manziel will recall that as his "Welcome to the NFL" moment.
  2. Simply the fact that we never again have to worry about our team going away.
  3. Somebody on here once referred to him as Nigel Bedlam. That needs to be a t-shirt.
  4. Honestly, I wouldn't hate it. The Mrs. and I were discussing it. It would take a huge chunk of the personality out of Bills football, yes. On the other hand, it would be nice from a comfort perspective. We aren't really "old" but those late season games aren't getting any easier. A retractable roof really would be the best of both worlds. Nothing beats a WNY fall day.
  5. Seriously. From my vantage point on the couch, they hosted the hell out of us. Paint on the field. Graphics on the video boards. Train whistles and shout songs on the PA. Classy as hell. Thanks, DET.
  6. Yeah, one of the stories somewhere said they gave out something like 64,000 tickets for 60,000 seats, because free audiences never have good attendance. Makes sense.
  7. Scalpers may be a-holes, but perhaps both ticket master and stubhub have a shred of humanity in them somewhere. They are not allowing these tickets to be posted for resale. http://m.espn.go.com/nfl/story?storyId=11927077&src=desktop&rand=ref~%7B%22ref%22%3A%22http%3A%2F%2Fwww.buffalorumblings.com%2F2014%2F11%2F24%2F7274637%2Fscalpers-finding-tough-online-sledding%22%7D&ex_cid=espnapi_public
  8. John Kucko tweeted an aerial shot from what I presume is last night. Looks like a long ways to go.
  9. A little Wikipedia research confirms my suspicions. This 105.1fm station in Detroit has gone through about a half-dozen format changes in the last 15-20 years. They switched to the sports talk format last year and became an ESPN affiliate. They only offer four hours of in-house programming per day. Bush league stunts from a bush league station. If they're around in two years, it'll be a minor miracle.
  10. From what I can gather this station doing the GreenOut thing or whatever is a new, upstart station. So they're likely the #3 sports talk station in an upper-mid sized market. Not a great place to be. I worked in the radio biz for a little while, and have a decent idea what's probably going on behind the scenes at this moment. There is a program director beside himself with glee that this is getting so much run on social media from angry Bills fans. That same PD is also 6-12 months away from being out of a job unless he can start generating clicks, follows, ratings and (most importantly) ad revenue. So he (or most likely one of his more creative underlings) comes up with this idea to "get back" at the Bills over some perceived slight. "Run with it!" he says! He's anxiously counting the @ mentions and hashtag counts (or most likely having a more computer-literate underling feed him the info). It's a dirtbag move that serves as a prime example of "there's no such thing as negative publicity."
  11. Terrestrial radio is a dying medium concerning itself not with class, but with desperately generating attention and ratings.
  12. I've got buddies from ROC making the drive. If I didn't have early meetings at work Tuesday, I'd be with them!
  13. I've seen a lot of things in my life but I've never seen that before. Heads-up TO by Tuck. Raiders were even Billsier than the Bills toward the end there. 20 yard encroachment, three defensive penalties on one play...
  14. I have no idea what's happening in that video but I think it might be awesome.
  15. Yes. But it does seem WROC channel 8 in rochester did the right thing and secured the rights, so kudos to them.
  16. That's such horsesh*t. In Rochester, we're subject to blackouts, but when a Thursday night or emergency Monday night game is played, we don't get it over the air.
  17. I hear you man, totally. But this is the way the League is handling it, and as much as we'd all like to know exactly what is when and where, we won't until the decision-makers decide. And there has to be a mind-boggling amount of logistics involved with postponing and/or moving an NFL game with only 3-4 days notice. Cancelling and planning travel for however many hundreds of people. Cancelling and rebooking hotel space for however many hundreds of people. Finding out what venues may be available and getting however many hundreds or thousands of people to work at that venue on a day they weren't expecting, right before a holiday. Throw in the uncertainty of exactly how and when people can travel again in the Southtowns. How do they even get the team to the stadium, let alone the airport to fly out? It's a project on a scale and time frame that would be enough to make me curl up in a ball under my desk and weep openly I don't blame the League for not wanting to announce anything piecemeal.
  18. Except to figure out the plan so they can announce it all at once.
  19. I highly doubt the wheels aren't spinning at NFL HQ, looking into the various logistics of a new date or venue for the game. Just because the public isn't hearing anything doesn't mean things aren't happening.
  20. As much as I hate it, I've gotta think the game changes venues. The logistics don't seem to be in favor of a home game. Plus too much bad politics in prioritizing the game over clearing roads, public safety, etc. But how the hell does the team actually GET anywhere? What a mess...
  21. That sums up Buffalo perfectly. Resourcefulness. Laughing in the face of nature. Functional alcoholism.
  22. So what will they do about the game? According to what I've been able to glean from the twitter verse, it appears to be the League's call whether to move the game time or location. Wouldn't it be some supreme irony if we DID end up playing a game in Toronto this year?
  23. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
  24. Oh, this is the worst-looking team I ever saw. What, when you buy a team like this I bet you get a free bowl of soup, huh? [looks at Terry Pegula] Oh, it looks good on you though.
