Who's going to be the first coach fired this year?
RevWarRifleman replied to BmarvB's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Doug Marron -
Good post Bill. With #7: Glad to see Gilmore get praise from more people on the board. I think he's really coming into his own. Starting last year I saw him improve throughout the year. My one knock on him is staying healthy. In previous years he's had to sit out to nurse injuries. #9: I'm pleasantly surprised with Darby! I figured there'd be a learning curve period this year as he learned his position at the NFL level. Wrong. He looks real good for being this early in the season. Go Bills vs the Giants.

Sorry, I don't think the Jags will have a chance. -
Belichick's latest monster?
RevWarRifleman replied to BackInDaDay's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agree. Bring the heat on Mr Brady, especially early in the game. He gets uncomfortable even when there's bodies closing in on him, let alone hitting his throwing arm or giving him a pasting before or right after he gets rid of it. He doesn't like physical play. Been that way 15+ years. -

BDD, thanks so much for doing the research & for posting! Felt like I was cramming for a college physics exam. -
Agree with you on both paragraphs. With the second paragraph, yup, that's what the Pats do. They know Brady is the best in the business, so they game-plan their offense around him & his ability to hit the home run pass from anywhere on the field, thus, forcing opponent's offense to play catch-up w/ them. A very difficult job. do.

Absolutely. Gilmore is a VERY good corner man who I think, is coming into his own. When I got to your part about maybe putting Mario on Edelman, I instantly thought, "why not just jam their TE's & receivers inside the 5 yds of the LOS?" This takes them out of the timing of their routes, we got the guys up front to stuff their runs, as well as get to Brady as the quick timing of their pass game is off. Brady I've noticed over the last decade gets flustered when he feels the pocket closing in on him & his throws are off many (not all) the time. I don't know, maybe I'm being naïve here. But I think we have the defensive talent to do a lot of different things.

Ok Dibs, if you've researched it, and it looks like you did, I can accept that. To add a little something to this topic, after I posted this, I read Bacari Rambo's take on Brady's quick delivery on the Bills website. He was there on the field, I was watching on TV. Obviously his perception was way more accurate than mine. Nevertheless, Go Bills against the Fish!

Agree w/ that. I started thinking about this almost as soon as the Colts game was over. Gronk is a big lug. Defenders like Gilmore would bounce right off of him. Plus he has a tendency to get dinged up. If he gets assigned to cover Gronk the whole game, I'm afraid by the end of the first half, he'll think he's Happy Gilmore rather than Stephon Gilmore. Nevertheless, Go Bills!

Agree w/ that. Started thinking about this almost as soon as the Colts game was done. Gronk is a big man. Gilmore, to me, just doesn't have the size to take him down. Plus, he has a tendency to get dinged up. If he tries to cover Gronk all game, by the end of the first half, he'll be thinking he's Happy Gilmore rather than Stephon Gilmore. Nevertheless, Go Bills!

Bill/NYC, great to see you back on the board! Lookin' forward to your posts this season, again too. Want to add a little something to your 10th point. Agree that the opener against the Colts is big. Because these are the teams that if the Bills are going to make that next step up, these are the teams now that we they to beat. We did it last year in the Packers game. Now it has to be consistently done. All those years previously when the Bills were getting only 4 -7 wins p/season, those wins were against teams w/ losing season as well. For 14 of the last 15 years, we just couldn't get over that hump, for a variety of reasons. Starting this year, I think now we can do that on more of a consistent basis. Go Bills

Mickey, way to remember a lot of the AFL guys. Good to see a lot of people give them tribute. Hey, they started it all! -

1. Kelly- savior of the franchise. 2. Fred - literally a bootstrap story of success & a super role model. 3. Kemp - brought us our first two championships ever. 4. Tasker - couldn't be stopped on Spec Teams even when they game planned for him. 5. Cookie - gritty, punishing runner that reflected the toughness of the AFL. That's it. -
Saying thanks? Demanding him back!! Time to start the movement.

Just saw it announced. You got to be kidding me. What, they think he's not as good/useful as the other RB's, save Shady?
