I'm hesitant to be a naysayer before the guy even starts the job, but I'm a little tired of articles like this one that point to Matthew Stafford as proof that Todd Downing is a great QB coach: http://www.buffalone...two-bills-drive I like Stafford and enjoy watching him play, but his mechanics are so bad (sidearm throwing) that even the TV announcers notice it. As for EJ, his footwork is so bad that EVEN I NOTICE IT (I've lost count of the number of passes he threw off the front foot). Wouldn't it have been nicer to get someone who actually succeeded in coaching a QB to meaningful improvement? Just saying.

On the play before that, there was a flag so the clock was stopped at 2:03. Better question is why he ran that odd play on 4th down and gave up a bunch of yards while leaving a few seconds on the clock. What would they be saying about Payton's game management if Ryan had connected on a hail mary to win the game? IMHO they should have punted, even from the 30, or alternatively have taken the safety. I'm sure Brees could have used up 12 seconds sprinting 70 yards to his own end zone.

I was at McFadden's a couple of years ago to see Bills vs. Giants (when the Bills were playing great, the week after we beat the Eagles because they jumped offside on 4th and short late in the game). It was wild, and the crowd was so big that the bar next door (I forget the name) served as an overflow Bills backers bar.

How charming that someone still believes that point spreads have anything to do with what some "experts" think will actually happen on the football field. Point spreads are meant to do one thing: to take the body of bettors and divide them equally between the two teams so that the book will win either way. In other words, the point spreads are meant to reflect the opinions of the bettors.
