  1. Rex got fined $100K for talking after a game. Marshawn Lynch is said to be subject to a six figure fine for not talking to the media after the last game. How does this work??
  2. I remember them interviewing Trent Edwards on PTI in 2008 when the Bills were 5-1 and talking about how he was a candidate for league MVP.
  3. OK, guys, here's the answer: 6-20 And that includes a season when the Bills opened 5-1 (2008) and a season when they opened 5-2 (2011) meaning that when the Bills get their 5th win in the first half of the season, their record for the rest of those seasons is 6-23. And counting... And this was with 4 different QBs (Orton, Fitzpatrick, Edwards and Bledsoe) and 4 different HCs.
  4. This includes the current season so there are only 26 games
  5. Buffalo has gone 5-3 in 4 seasons in this century (including the current season). What's Buffalo's record in the second half of those seasons? [NO GOOGLING...]
  6. AND THE WINNER IS... Dick Jauron, who had three 7-win seasons and won 3 more in his fourth year before being fired. Sad, no? And think about all of the stories of good coaching candidates who didn't even want to interview for the job. It should be obvious what it was that they knew that we didn't (or didn't want to).
  7. What Bills coach has the most wins in the 21st century? [NO GOOGLING...]
  8. The thing that separates Bills fans from others is our ability to keep coming back for more. Who here, at the beginning of the season, didn't think that this year we've got a chance to be good, that 14 seasons would not become 15 playoff-free seasons? Who can you blame when the culture of the team is so supportive of mediocrity? Can you blame the players? Not really, how many of them were here in 2008 when we started 5-1 and then lost 8 of our last 10? None of them were here when we lost to the Steelers' bench in the last game of 2004 (our only winning season this century). The culture of mediocrity is so ingrained in the Bills organization that it infects the players. Maybe it would have been nice to get Roethlisberger instead of Losman in the first round in 2004 but my guess is if we'd gotten Ben he wouldn't have had a career that was much better than JP's or Trent's. We'd have ruined him too. Who here really thought we'd go into our two must-win games against KC and Miami and actually win? If I had just spent $1.4 billion to buy this team, I'd clean house. Completely. Front office, coaching staff, scouting staff, everyone. There isn't one person of importance in this organization who has a track record to point to in order to justify his retention. Terry Pegula has got his hands full. Too bad the only thing we know about him so far is how well he has done with the Sabres. (For those of you keeping score at home, after 17 games the Sabres have fewer wins than the Bills had after 8). Let's see what he can do here. (For all of his obnoxious noise, you know what Trump would be doing if he owned the team.)
  9. I've had this sense all season long. If I'm not mistaken, they never went to him for a comment on the PI call against Gilmore, probably because he would have had to say the refs were wrong. And if he won't do it on CBS, he certainly won't do it on the NFL Network. I have to disagree on this. I always enjoyed Carey when he was reffing. It was clear that he practiced his dance moves in front of a mirror, and he was so cool to watch. Reminds me of the old National League umpire, Dutch Rennert. Here's some video: Dutch was so good he had a different move for calling a strike on lefties or righties. And this, for fun:
  10. The Pinstripe Bowl!! Who the f-- ever heard of the Pinstripe Bowl??
  11. Joe Ferguson played a heroic game on a bad ankle. I still don't know why they gave the ball to Joe Cribbs on 4th and 1. All season they had been giving it to Roosevelt Leaks who ONLY got the ball in short yardage situations all season long and averaged 3.3 yards per carry. I watched that game with my Dad and a friend of his, and when the Bills blew the lead and lost on the 50 yard Fouts pass, my Dad's friend said "Oh well, it's only a game. Let's have dinner." I wanted to strangle him. I think that may be the first time since the merger that the Bills won the division. We had such high hopes (after breaking the 0-20 streak against the Fins in week 1) Bills misery did not start in Music City, my young friends.
  12. I was happy they only listed the most crushing losses of the millennium. I still haven't gotten over the Bills' loss to San Diego in the first round of the playoffs after the 1980 season. That was massive.

  14. Fourth and 10 at the KC 15, we're down 4 points, 2:32 left in the game, Buffalo has all of its timeouts remaining. Go for it? Are you kidding? If you take the FG and get a stop, you only need to get to the 35 or so for a chance at a game-winning FG with the wind at your back. I haven't seen anything on this in the news coverage, but that may have been the worst game management decision since we punted from the 32 against the Patriots a few years back.
  15. Reminds me of some advice my father gave me once about women
  16. So let's set the record straight: I'm pleased that Orton is playing and I think the Bills can be good with a C+ or a B- QB. But Peyton Manning needn't look over his shoulder. And while we're at it, I thought that Hackett called a lousy first half and has been largely predictable and ineffective most of the year. In the second half, though, I thought he called a good game. CJ doesn't suck, but he hasn't been used well. The O line is a work in process but if everyone gets healthy and one of our draft picks (Kouandijo) comes around, there's hope. I haven't been a Bills fan for 50 years because it's always fun ...
  17. You're right. I think I'll go commit suicide. Fact of the matter is I celebrated yesterday's win no less than you did. But I get a little wary of the euphoria that sweeps over this board every time we have some success, just like I get extremely weary of the "fire this one" and "bench that one" that we hear an awful lot. Let's enjoy the win but next week is the Patriots and I want to win that one too.
