  1. Then you should understand the difference.
  2. You seriously don't understand the difference? I'm guessing you've never been in any sort of managerial position.
  3. He had input on performance. He did not have input on the firing.
  4. It's funny... what's happening now is what everyone wanted for a long time, but now that it's happened, everyone is whining about it. (Russ being removed from football decisions, Whaley given full control over HC search)
  5. Good on him to be proactive about it. No objections for me, get whatever is needed done, heal up, be ready for the new season.
  6. Well what do you know, same **** Whaley said. The local media will hate this story.
  7. Yeah, I guess I disagree with the media and a lot of folks here, I have no issues with how Whaley handled that... it was clear he was trying to be as 'company first' as possible, and also didn't want to throw Rex and co under the bus either. The media wouldn't let things go, so kept asking the same damned things. I think Whaley has done a decent job in getting talent on this team (better than other GMs since our last playoffs), but like he said, it's not good enough. I'm hopeful that his choice for HC does better than Russ's choices for HCs. If we don't make the playoffs (or show real improvement) next year, I'll be on team 'fire whaley', but right now I still support him as GM. Also, !@#$ the local media. Bunch of idiots.
  8. Not necessarily... by all accounts Whaley has gotten the players his coaches have requested.
  9. Did someone just ask him if he'd hire a coach that demanded GM duties? 'would you hire a guy that would result in your firing???' What sort of !@#$ery
  10. Finally watching/listening... The media is a bunch of vultures. I have no issue with Whaley's answers. Some of the stuff he can't answer for professional reasons, come on.
  11. I don't understand why everyone is so pissed at Whaley then? Sounds like the new owners wanted to be really hands on, realized it didn't work, and now are handing it over to the GM
  12. Since no one has posted the video... all I have to go by is commentary... Basically the Pegulas hired Rex, Whaley signed off on it. We don't know if Whaley had complaints or not about Rex during the last two seasons. Pegulas fired Rex possibly without consulting Whaley. Whaley is now in charge of this coaching hire. That's basically it, right?
  13. Is there a full video link somewhere?
  14. It's pretty embarrassing how many Bills fans think of black coaches as nothing more than a box to check.
  15. Literally everyone other than Aaron Williams and his agent thinks he should retire.
  16. It's pretty nuts that Tyrod doesn't understand why the move was made. Hell, even if the team was fully committed to him next year and there was no injury clause, it'd make sense to sit him that game.
  17. On paper, I like Whaley's picks and FA pickups more often than not. But at some point, they need to produce results on the field. He gets one more year, before I start bitching about a replacement. Playoffs or bust next year. And yes, that means our next HC needs to make the playoffs next year as well. There's no excuse, we have a good offense, all we need is a slightly better defense. No playoffs next year means blow it all up.
  18. He's head of football operations is he not? He's responsible for literally everything that happens below him. Comes with the title. I'm not in a rush to replace him yet, but he clearly isn't getting it done.
  19. He's responsible for 4 playoff-less seasons.
  20. I would not blame him for taking another offer.
  21. Who do you propose is an immediate improvement?
  22. If we don't pick up Tyrod's contract, it's pretty clear we're in tank/rebuild mode.
  23. I still think his development was totally screwed by us. One of those guys that if he were drafted by the right team, might have turned out solid.... now he'll be lucky to be a backup somewhere.
  24. Wherever it is, I'm sure we'll rooster it up.
  25. So what do you guys prefer? We retain a bunch of mediocre people and barely miss the playoffs, or try to do everything we can to pick up a bunch of draft picks of the next couple years while 'tanking'?
