Stop with "Schedule is Hard"--Analytics says it BS
Dorkington replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
90% likely we'll go 0-2 vs the Patriots, though, so at least that part's true. -
Agreed. That being said, I don't know if other teams have starting quality backups or not, it just feels like we have a serious lack of talent, should injury strike.

Watkins wants to get paid more

Ah, Bills fans. Best in the league. At hating every talented player we have. -
I haven't read the whole thing. But I wanted to say, based on certain numbers, I don't really blame Tyrod/run-pass balance for missing the playoffs. Team Pass play pct Baltimore 65.99% Green Bay 64.68% Detroit 64.60% Cleveland 64.39% New Orleans 63.44% Arizona 63.26% Jacksonville 62.74% Washington 62.44% Minnesota 62.23% NY Giants 61.61% Los Angeles 60.94% San Diego 60.75% Chicago 60.70% Indianapolis 60.56% Denver 59.80% Philadelphia 59.44% Seattle 59.37% Oakland 59.27% Kansas City 59.00% Pittsburgh 58.94% NY Jets 58.33% Atlanta 57.73% Cincinnati 57.52% Tampa Bay 57.50% Carolina 56.94% Houston 56.63% New England 56.41% Miami 56.21% San Francisco 54.02% Tennessee 52.78% Buffalo 51.38% Dallas 51.30% There's not really a whole lot of correlation between pass play percentage and getting to the playoffs, at least looking at last year. I've made a couple posts on Tyrod's efficiency compared to other QBs before, here's a copy paste from one of them: And because the above doesn't take into account rushing ability: Name Tm Pos Att Yds TD Lng Y/A Y/G A/G Colin Kaepernick SFO QB 69 468 2 30 6.8 39.0 5.8 Tyrod Taylor BUF QB 95 580 6 49 6.1 38.7 6.3 Cam Newton CAR QB 90 359 5 28 4.0 23.9 6.0 Marcus Mariota TEN QB 60 349 2 41 5.8 23.3 4.0 Aaron Rodgers* GNB QB 67 369 4 23 5.5 23.1 4.2 Andrew Luck IND QB 64 341 2 33 5.3 22.7 4.3 Blake Bortles JAX QB 58 359 3 27 6.2 22.4 3.6 Dak Prescott* DAL QB 57 282 6 18 4.9 17.6 3.6 Russell Wilson SEA QB 72 259 1 18 3.6 16.2 4.5 Matthew Stafford DET QB 37 207 2 24 5.6 12.9 2.3 Ryan Tannehill MIA QB 39 164 1 18 4.2 12.6 3.0 Andy Dalton* CIN QB 46 184 4 15 4.0 11.5 2.9 Jameis Winston TAM QB 53 165 1 14 3.1 10.3 3.3 Carson Wentz PHI QB 46 150 2 17 3.3 9.4 2.9 Ryan Fitzpatrick NYJ QB 33 130 0 14 3.9 9.3 2.4 Alex Smith* KAN QB 48 134 5 24 2.8 8.9 3.2 Brock Osweiler HOU QB 30 131 2 21 4.4 8.7 2.0 Matt Ryan*+ ATL QB 35 117 0 18 3.3 7.3 2.2 Kirk Cousins* WAS QB 34 96 4 19 2.8 6.0 2.1 Tom Brady* NWE QB 28 64 0 15 2.3 5.3 2.3 Case Keenum LAR QB 20 51 1 13 2.6 5.1 2.0 Derek Carr* OAK QB 39 70 0 13 1.8 4.7 2.6 Trevor Siemian DEN QB 28 57 0 14 2.0 4.1 2.0 Joe Flacco BAL QB 21 58 2 16 2.8 3.6 1.3 Sam Bradford MIN QB 20 53 0 24 2.7 3.5 1.3 Carson Palmer ARI QB 14 38 0 16 2.7 2.5 0.9 Philip Rivers* SDG QB 14 35 0 10 2.5 2.2 0.9 Cody Kessler CLE QB 11 18 0 8 1.6 2.0 1.2 Drew Brees* NOR QB 23 20 2 7 0.9 1.3 1.4 Ben Roethlisberger* PIT QB 16 14 1 14 0.9 1.0 1.1 Eli Manning NYG QB 21 -9 0 6 -0.4 -0.6 1.3 My conclusion now, as it was then, is that Tyrod is definitely good enough to take a team to the playoffs. Is he elite? Hell no. But he isn't holding the team back either. Simply put, yes the offense and Tyrod *could* be better, but the offense is not what kept us out of the playoffs last year. That falls squarely on the shoulders of the bottom third level defense.

Disappointing, yet unsurprising.

I'm predicting 6-10 - 8-8 range, until we know more about our defense. Our schedule on paper is tougher, it's hard to predict an even better offense than last year (I thought it was pretty good). So the question will be, will our defense remain the same? Improve? If it improves, will it improve enough to offset a potentially more difficult schedule?

Making Kamala Harris Happen
Dorkington replied to IDBillzFan's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I personally didn't find anything wrong with the charges, considering that the 'investigation' by the two videographers was more of a smear job, and included some shady business. As far as a liberal receiving money from PP for an election campaign, that's not exactly news. Organizations such as PP, on either side of the political spectrum, will back politicians/political parties that protect their interests. That's basically how our politics work these days, lobbying and campaign contributions. I dislike it, but until Congress changes the rules on that, it's how things operate. Also, articles I'm finding state that 14 of the 15 charges were dropped, and that the prosecutors can resubmit the 14 privacy charges, and that the conspiracy charge still stands. So again, I largely disagree with your take. -
I've seen op-eds claiming that the ACA is causing this, and I've seen op-eds claiming the Republicans gunning to gut the ACA is causing this. By your posts, I'm guessing you believe the former, but do we have some good unbiased facts to back either of the claims up? Either way, the ACA wasn't enough to fix healthcare, and the AHCA certainly isn't either, imo. Universal Healthcare or bust in the modern and developed world.

Making Kamala Harris Happen
Dorkington replied to IDBillzFan's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
While I don't agree with the OP's take on Harris, I do absolutely agree that the Democrats need 'new blood' to represent the party. The old guard is simply not cutting it, hopefully Hillary is gone for good, and I wouldn't mind Pelosi going either. The liberal block is increasingly left of their Democratic representation, and increasingly fed up with shady politicians. -

Raiders sign Carr to 5 year/125 mill extension
Dorkington replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Re Carr/EJ I highly doubt we would have developed Carr as well as the Raiders did. QBs don't become great in the NFL in a vacuum, imo. The Bills have a terrible track record when it comes to QB development. -

Dorkington replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Brees not being in the playoffs every year due to horrible team building is kind of the point... are the Saints, Colts, etc limited in how much talent they can provide the QB due to the salaries they dump into the QB? What's the optimal percentage of team salary a QB should make so that you can still have a decent team around him? Brady is a perfect example, he takes a lot less money than he could demand, and the Patriots always have such a good all around team (to the point they were 3-1 with their backup QBs last year). -
24 Points, Wins, Losses, and the Playoffs
Dorkington replied to BuffaloHokie13's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
To me, it reads like we need massive improvements on both sides of the ball. Yes, the defense is the bigger issue, but the fact that we were one of four teams to not win any games in which the defense gave up more than 24 points is a problem, as well. Meanwhile, the Patriots and the Falcons were ≥ 50%. That being said, when the defense allowed less than 24 points, our conservative ball control offense worked in our favor, so that's good. Still, we need to be able to put up more points in an event our defense fails. A 'ball control' offense only works if we have a great defense, which we don't have. Hopefully McD can restore some defensive results, and hopefully our offense can be more dangerous. -
Raiders sign Carr to 5 year/125 mill extension
Dorkington replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So, real talk... why are none of these 4 perennial Superbowl contenders? I'm kinda glad we only spend what $8? 9? million on Tyrod compared to these salaries. Not saying Tyrod is better... but Tyrod + $15million is probably better. -

There's only like 4 players that could get cut for significant savings. Kyle, Preston, and a couple others. So out of those, the biggest surprise would be Kyle, but he'd also save us the most money (not that I think that's an issue). Personally, I'd go with Preston or Schmidt, but either of them being cut isn't really a surprise. So, I guess by default... Kyle?

James Comey's Testimony Before Congress
Dorkington replied to Trump_is_Mentally_fit's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Also, Trump wouldn't have won the Republican nomination if the 'GOP' vote wasn't splintered between 5+ candidates. If the RNC put out 3-5 candidates like the DNC did, Trump wouldn't be POTUS. It really was a perfect storm of events. -

With the 11.5 cap room, what do the Bills do now?
Dorkington replied to JM2009's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'd love to have him as our backup, but Bills fans would burn the stadium down, unfortunately.
