probably an ok pick based on need but I would have preferred J. Meredith. S. Nelson - Strengths: Good height with a rangy build and long arms...Frame has room to add weight...A fantastic athlete...Good speed and quickness...Vertical threat who can stretch the field...Gets good separation...Excellent hands...Nice ball skills and body control...Can create after the catch...Tough...Technically sound and gives good effort as a blocker...Has a lot of experience...Very productive... Good bloodlines. Weaknesses: Needs to bulk up but has trouble maintaining weight...Is not very strong...Not a dominant in-line blocker and can be physically overwhelmed...A relatively average route runner...May have some minor durability concerns...Probably won't be a good fit for everyone. Notes: Cousin of former L.S.U. and current Kansas City Chiefs DT Glenn Dorsey...A four-year starter...Finished his college career ranked in the Golden Eagles Top 5 in career receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns...Saved the best for last and had a terrific senior campaign...Somewhat of a one-dimensional pass catcher who in many ways is a wide receiver in a tight ends body...Awfully similar to Martin Rucker of the Cleveland Browns (4th Round Pick in '08) , only better.

I am with you '89 .... I am on record as against taking a TE at 11. But if BP falls to 28 then we must take him. He will not last until 41, that is for sure ....

QB is not in picture until day 2. As for RB they are a dime a dozen. The league is full of serviceable RB's; the FB life expectancy is short and all teams utilize more than one back. We are fine with Lynch-Jackson_Rhode-Oman stable.

To me this is of little value. I say that every year I can be almost 80-90% right on first 10 draft picks of any draft (maybe not exact order but who's off the board). My point is I do not not do this drafting job for a living and neither does any one else on this board and my top 10 success rate is pretty high. It's fairly easy to predict we take a Raji at 11 when everyone has him as a top 10 selection ....

I maintain that early picks concentrate on athletic playmakers - speed at the edges so DE (Jackson/Orakpo?) and OLB (Mathews/Cushing?) fits here ... just who is the problem. Later rounds OT's (Vollmer?) and maybe even a TE (Coffman?) can be had. The draft is a dangerous games as it amounts to one big poker table of 32 players ....

CJ: I agree with you .... I have seen a lot of mocks where he's a second rounder. Most recent I saw him going to Dallas at 51. IMO he's the best athlete in this draft but what do I know ....

I would not put it buy the Raiders to draft him in first round. With wildcat now pretty much in everyone's playbook he may be worth the chance.

The Bills have lacked an identity for quite a while now. If I am game planning against them whom do I have to stop? By that I mean what player on the Bills do you have to account for at all times? (Think Bruce Smth, Thurman Thomas back in the day. Think Julius Peppers, Shawn Merriman, Adrian Peterson today.) I think we all knoew the answer here. So now the question is this: Is there a game changer in the draft today? Who knows .... there's not too much difference between a 7th rounder & UDFA. They are all flyers ....

I am sure there are plenty but as for Gates let's keep him out of discussion because everyone whiffed ... which is why the draft is a crap shoot (and probably so much fun). Anyway, the core question is do you spend an 11 on Pettigrew knowing who else may be on the board for a team with multiple needs ... fill in the blank (OT's, OLB's in particular). In the end, I say NO to BP & go on to 2-3 pick and see what happens (Cook, Coffman?)

Shockey, Winslow, Davis were probably not worth it. Certainly TG is without debate; Miller has been very good; ditto for Wwatson but Clark may be product of a system. Not sure if they are all #1's but I know there are several TE's (Jets come to mind) that have busted with this approach of drafting a TE with a high draft pick.

Gates was an undrafted free agent (I Think) ... this only supports my contention that we are wasting picks at TE position in first 2 rounds.
