  1. We need an established guy next to Steve for a year at least. Quarterbacks can't be asked to throw to a buncha guys that can't run routes yet. Roy knows where to be on the field and can be a chain mover for us. Everyone left Mike Williams of Seattle in the trash can and look what he's done for that team. Tall receivers with hands don't grow on trees. Braylon Edwards is also possibly going to be looking for work. Bit of a problem child, but we're low on sh*t talkers. Now Ocho Cinco is not somewhere I'd be willing to go, despite his familiarity with Fitzpatrick. Little too far down that road.
  2. I'm all for bringing back big Pat Williams to finish his career. He could rotate around the D-line and provide some seriously lacking depth. Having that kinda Pro Bowl vet around only helps the young guys that come in, too. He needs to be in Buffalo. As for Winfield, I doubt he comes here and I don't think that's really a need area for us. Ray Edwards is another story...
  3. I say Lee Evans is as good as gone. It would probably only take half of his salary to bring in Roy.
  4. Hey One Bills gang, how do ya feel about Roy Williams. I'm thinking it would be nice not having to draft a wideout. Roy is almost definitely getting cut and he'd bring us a big target for not too bad a price tag. I think he can still be a big time wideout in the right system. He was a beast in Detroit and I'd like to see some of that jump ball game in Orchard Park. Ya can't throw to a buncha 5'10" guys all day. I don't think we can depend on Easley being that guy. Set down the moonshine and banjo Nixxy Boy and grab that rotary telephone.
  5. I agree that we have too many needs to draft a QB early. But I think there are other options. Kyle Orton for example. He'll be available for a late rounder if he's not released outright. He's a proven cold weather QB that can rack up yardage. I think he'd probably be an upgrade over Fitz. Then we'd have a decent QB depth chart, too. There's no doubt that our draft focus should be in the trenches. I'd let Whitner walk and put our money towards free agents in an area of higher need. Ray Edwards, Richard Seymour, and Mathias Kiwanuka all deserve a look. I see Posluszny's a free agent. They better not give him the Kelsay treatment. As far as further offensive help goes, I wonder if we could even get a visit from Randy Moss, James Jones, or Malcolm Floyd. It ain't easy bein' Buddy Nix...
  6. No scheme works for crappy players. We could at least run some goal line stuff though, so a team can't hand the ball off and stroll down the entire field.
  7. I like George Wilson over Whitner. And we might as well free Lee because he isn't doing anything here. He's a glorified Tedd Ginn with slightly better hands. Let him play in the slot for a contender or help out Sam Bradford. Time to cut off the game checks. I agree w/ what's been said. He's clearly already checked out.
  8. Anyone wanna scoff at Daunte Culpepper suggestions anymore? How about laughing off Josh McCown? The list goes on. Any organization that starts Ryan Fitzpatrick by choice needs to get on the phone with free agents. Unless the #1 pick is the goal here (which doesn't seem too hard to believe at this point). How do people with season ticks still show up to the stadium every week?
  9. I think Chris Ellis is going to be the guy that really stands out in this new defense. His measurables are almost identical to Demarcus Ware's. 40 yard dash, height, and weight. The new coaching staff isn't stupid though and won't let on anything in regards to the D. I say he gets tons of snaps this weekend. I think some of the Bills' faithful has forgotten what competent coaching looks like. It has been a while. Rest assured, it has returned.
  10. How is Greg Ellis still a free agent? I know he's 35, but he had 7 sacks last year in Oakland (that's what Kelsay has in the last two years). And he has tons of experience in the 3-4. He's a locker room leader, too. The guy could bring what Joey Porter is bringing to Arizona. Attitude and leadership. Gives Maybin someone to watch and learn from on the sidelines. I don't see why we wouldn't put a call out to this guy. Anyone else on board with the idea?
  11. I think the Cowboys may be letting go of another receiver that would be a big help to the Bills O. ESPN is reporting that Dallas is trying to trade Patrick Crayton and if they don't find any takers, he'll be cut. I'd like to see him in town. Much more polished than a lot of the guys we've got. Problem is, there may be a long line of suitors. Starting with Minnesota and San Diego I'd assume.
  12. Hey dopey, learn how to read. Adam Schefter is reporting that the Bills are one of three teams with interest. That's not us "jumping up and down." That's the front offices using the 'ol telephone.
  13. Yeah, he could very well be a Bill soon and I don't think that would be the worst thing. As someone who follows the Cards closely, I'm sure he could be had for a middle of the road player. Youbouty or Corner would probably do the trick. Cards DB's are pretty rough.
  14. Leinart threw 6 passes last game. He didn't exactly get a ton of chances. He missed one deep ball and that was basically it. As Gambo and Ash (Phoenix radio guys) are saying, Whisenhunt just really does not like the guy. Didn't draft him. Doesn't want him. He has more talent than Ryan Fitzpatrick. You can be sure of that. But he just hasn't had a lot of opportunity to show it. The Bills could do a lot worse. He needs a change of scenery.
  15. Pat White didn't show up to training camp on Day 1. Look like he may get cut. They really have no use for him with Thigpen and Pennington behind Henne. And it's now becoming pretty apparent. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/...show-pat-white/ We have ourselves a new QB soon. Pat White and CJ Spiller in the same backfield is a terrifying thing to think about if you're on the other side of the ball. Even if he's just a package guy at first, we gotta bring him in.
  16. Forget Masoli, I'll tell you who we may see in blue pretty soon. Troy Smith. Baltimore just signed Marc Bulger to a 1 year $3.8 million deal, according to ESPN. That clears the way for Smith to get out of town like he's wanted for awhile now. And he'll certainly look our way if he does become free. He'd be the favorite to take over Chan's O in my opinion. And he'd probably come cheaper than Fitzpatrick or at least in the same ballpark. Lee could finally see an accurate deep ball again. And this guy's actually avoided a pass rush in the past, which is interesting... Cheers
  17. If we just ignore Trent Edwards, maybe he'll go away. Let's just call him Bills QB #5, like an unnamed video game character. It makes me feel better to say, "Boy, did you see Bills QB #5 today? He looks like crap even in shorts." Time to disassociate.
  18. This one hurts boys. This guy is a Pro Bowler that they sent off on the cheap. One thing that needs to be made note of is age here though. He's 29. Lot older than I thought. That factor makes it not look like so great a fit for Buffalo. They're all young up front. Why pay big bucks for a guy going on 30? I'd rather spend that money on a 24 year old like Gaither, even if it did cost us a higher pick. The Skins are in win now mode. Aging everywhere. We're not in the same boat. Now, this gives us a point of comparison w/ the Ravens. Brown should be roughly as valuable as Gaither (considering the Pro Bowl appearances by Brown), so our 3rd should do it when you take into consideration that Brown may be gone for a low 4th. Not all bad news here. If we're still negotiating, that is. The McNeil talk seems early, for the record. AJ Smith hasn't even whispered it.
  19. They won't even attempt to put him on the practice squad, they'd just let him loose. It looks like it's just a matter of time. We can thank the strange maneuverings of Josh McDaniels for this. No picks needed. Buffalo's also also close as Quinn can get to is home state of Cleveland. Also the easiest looking job to steal when he begins his search for a new team. I'd like to see him and Brohm compete for the top spot.
  20. "Coach Josh McDaniels is leaning toward keeping only two quarterbacks active on game days this season. Activating a third QB would "put us behind the eight ball at other spots," explained McDaniels. The Broncos will want Tim Tebow active for situational work, so Brady Quinn will likely be the odd man out." (Per ESPN + Rotoworld) What do you guys think of Quinn? I'm thinking Buffalo is going to be the first place he looks. Love to see them cut Fitzpatrick and snag Quinn. Another option can't be bad if the starter falls on his face. More competition in the mean time. Also I'm a little surprised Josh McCown is still a free agent. He showed some athleticism and a big arm when he started in AZ a few years back. He's a better version of Tyler Thigpen, in my opinion. With Gailey, I think he could play pretty well. Especially by comparison to what we've seen lately.
