  1. Thanks for the support. Also from an newpaper article... "...damage estimate topped the toll of the Watts riots in Los Angeles, which broke out on a hot August day in 1965 during the arrest of a black man by a white Highway Patrol officer. The Watts riots claimed 34 lives and injured more than 1,000, leaving $200 million in damage in their wake six days later." Directions from Google Maps an 11 minute drive and approximately 4 miles from the stadium: Crenshaw Los Angeles, CA 1. Head east on Coliseum St toward Buckingham Rd 0.9 mi 2. 2. Could you please give me any legitimate reason why any citizen should be carrying a firearm at ANY public place? How about Luby's in Waco, Texas or McDonald's in San Ysidro, California? How about the campuses of Virgina Tech or the high school in Columbine? These are just a few examples and the history of those events certainly would legitimize carrying a firearm. So, why not at ANY sporting event as long as it is within the law? I guess you would trust the dope smokers to babysit your kids more than the law abiding gun carrying citizen protecting yours?
  3. What they didn't teach you in your freshman year of law school is that some folks don't need carry permits. I'm sorry that there are so many of you anti-gun lobbyists out there and legalization of marijuana activists but please chillax. In 1991, I can assure you that I wasn't frisked upon entering the stadium. This string was not meant to be about my carrying of a firearm but I find it very interesting that more people have a problem with an armed law abiding citizen at a stadium than some L.A. degenerate smoking dope in front of his young child. Maybe most folks don't have a problem with smoking dope in front of their kids? Amazing!
  4. Thanks for the support fellow law abiding American. I can assure everyone that I broke no law while the dope smokers certainly were breaking the law as well as setting a poor example for the kid. And for you folks who ask why you would pack heat at the stadium...have you ever been to the L.A. Coliseum? If you have, then you'll know why.
  5. How about some road game stories... Here is mine: L.A. Colliseum (1991?) surrounded by Raider fans. The Bills aren't haven't a good game and I'm quietly (internally) hoping the Bills get back into the game. The Bills are down at halftime and my buddy (a Raider fan not from L.A.) are waiting for the second half to start. We are sitting in the same row of what appears to be a family (three generations) and I estimate a boy about 8 yrs old, the kids dad and the kids grandfather. At halftime, dad lights up a joint and passes to the grandfather. Not one person in the stands even flinches. In the second half, the Bills return a kickoff for a TD. During the return, I can't contain myself and I jump up screaming "Go, go, go...yes, yes..." I sit down realizing that what I've done and one of the dope smokers says, "You're in the wrong stadium for that." Little do the dope smokers know that my buddy and I are packing heat. I keep quiet the rest of the game which the Bills ending up winning. Nice road trip. How about yours? My other road trip was to Houston (1990?) I think Del Greco kicked a 50+ yard field goal to send the game into overtime. Andre Reed took a crossing route to the endzone in overtime for the win. The final score was something like 56-50. Crazy.
  6. I don't remember the year but it was a Bills vs. Jets game. My bro and I were sitting in the end zone and the temperature was minus a million degrees. I don't think there was one TD in the game...just a few field goals. The worse part was just before the game was over, my toes went numb, then they tingled, then they were on fire. I was nearly in tears as we were exiting the stadium. My older bro was making fun of me. My pain finally subsided as we were in the parking lot. That's when my bro's toes were inflicted. I didn't make fun of him and I had to assist him to the car like an injured player gimping to the sideline.
  7. Be careful with responding to this string as hackers could be lurking.
  8. I think the Bills should go after Lebron James. The Bills have never had a great tight end and Antonio Gates who is a pro bowl tight end was a basketball player primarily before he got into the NFL. Start thinking outside of the box. This is innovation baby. Let us get King James into town now. If he can live in Cleveland then he certainly may enjoy Buffalo. The good thing about this is that James is not another football team castoff. Just an idea. What do you think?
  9. He may have a stronger arm than Chad Pennington. I remember when Edwards first started with the Bills and the one thing I liked was his quick release. His best throws appeared to be those quick release passes between the hash marks. Sometimes he actually threw the ball 20-30 yards. He did look promising back then but I haven't seen much since those first few starts.
  10. Here's something positive..."The Bills make me want to SHOUT!!!" And they have for the last ten years.
  11. My guess is you got it at the "Ven Husen" store? Maybe you wear shoes that you bought at "Vens Shoes?"
  12. Great...a Phil Hansen without a Bruce Smith equates to an Aaron Schobel. It's better than a John McCargo and I'll take that but please, please find me a Bruce Smith or enough playmakers to generate a pass rush. I haven't seen a legit pass rush in years and that includes all the Schobel years.
  13. Okay, I'm excited that you are excited about the Bills this year. And as in every year, I too have optimism. Why not have optimism...all teams are tied in the standings at 0-0. I too like the new GM, the new coaching staff, the new players and the new attitude. In fact EVERYTIME a team changes the front office and coaching staff a new attitude and direction ensues. I've seen it happen in all the years the Bills have made these changes and each time I too had the optimism. I wish I could share in your exuberance and optimism. But in what I deem a year of laying the foundation for the long-term future of the Bills, I can only hope that the Bills show improvement on offense and defense. Regardless of their record this season, I will do cartwheels if: 1) the offense can have a balanced attack where opposing defenses don't just stack the box to stop the run and 2) the defense can stop the run and generate a pass rush. Don't take this as a slam because it's not meant to be one. I hope you are right in your post but in all reality...this is a rebuilt engine Gailey is working with. Give Nix and Gailey time to get the players that are BMW engines and give him time to get rid of the Volkswagon engines.
  14. Schobel says he is not coming back. I'm really not all heartbroken about this. I think Schobel was a solid player in the mold of Phil Hansen but Phil Hansen had much more impact because Bruce Smith was on the other end. Schobel's career is equivalent to Phil Hansen WITHOUT Bruce Smith. Schobel didn't put fear into opposing teams like Bruce Smith did. Of course not many players do and the players who do likely end up in the Hall of Fame like Bruce. Schobel put up some decent numbers but IMO a lot of his play/sacks didn't change the outcome of many games nor did his play elevate the play of the other players on the defensive line. I'll miss Schobel for his solid play and great work ethic. Give me 11 Schobel's on defense or just 1 Bruce Smith. But with one Schobel......ho-hum...boring...but steady. What do you think?
