Where do you think our Defense will rank this year?
mpl6876 replied to DarthICE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
One thing that I can say with reasonable certainty is that our defense will play hard and be more "tough nosed." However, just way too many obstacles to overcome this year coupled with lack of experience and players equals a bottom tier defense. I say something like 22-24 overall. I think they real improvement will be seen in a couple of years. -
For me, this college season is going to be more fun than ever because I am going to be watching all the top QB's. Then come draft day I will hope and pray we can "land" a franchise QB. My fear is we won't be in position to get the top 1 or 2 Qb's, we will draft the wrong one, or we will do nothing. Either way, I am sure I will find something to B word about. LOL

Great line.

I hear you but two wrongs don't make a right.

Very good question? Hard to answer that without seeing them in camp and evaluating them? Kind of a "trap" question. I will say I wish we would have drafted Davis, Saffold, or Brown. Not a big fan of Campbell.
-
Very true and so is the lack of experience at the WR position.
-
I am not very high on Roscoe. He hasn't been utilized to his fullest but I have seen enough of him to conclude he is an average to below average NFL receiver. IMO, not even close to being a #2 WR. Great punt returner though.

I know it is too soon to tell but right now you have Ponder ahead of Mallot, Luck, and Lockleer? I like Ponder because of his attitiude and accuracy but his arm strength isn't the greatest. I don't have him rated ahead of the guys I mentioned above.

Maybe your right. I thought it was a legitimate concern worth talking about.

I am passionate about my Bills and I really hate when we don't win. It almost ruins my Sundays. I want to know what we have which is a tough nosed football team who knows how to win down the stretch. I don't want a "see what we got" team as you put it. As a fan, I can use forums like these to vent, learn more about my team, see others viewpoints, etc...But, I can't control the Bills FO.

Very good response. I agree with you that we have many holes to fill. My fear is that next year we won't draft or acquire a QB or LT either. I thought for sure this new regime was going to address these two issues...Please don't tell me that they did with the drafting of Wang and Brown....

Thanks for responding Bill. I must say I do enjoy your post even though I don't agree with many of them. I am just scared and worried about having an OC that is in the "learning" stage. I think I would be more comfortable with an OC who was experienced, can add something new to coach Gailey's scheme/mindset, someone who will appropriately challange a coaches decision, etc...I just don't see this happening with Mokins.... Seems like Chan is going to have to "do it all" on offense and that is one BIG task.

I know this has been discussed here. I was hoping for a little more in depth analysis. Does anyone think Chan has "too much on his plate?" He is the head coach, calling his own plays and has a OC named Modkins who has no experience as a OC. Very limited NFL experience as a running back coach for Arizona. I see him as a "puppet" for Gailey. An old buddy from GT. My initial thought is that it is going to be very very difficult for Gailey to juggle the head coach responsibilities and offensive coordinator responsibilities too. This really scares me? Seems like a bad idea not to hire an experienced OC. Remember, our last OC? Anyone else have any thoughts on this?

How bout he is fat, lazy, and unmotivated as well. Huge bust!

I think that sums it up in a nutshell. I mean that in a negative way. IMO, that is what is wrong with the Bills front office and the fans in general. Many of you have no sense of urgency to win. I want to win tomorrow. I cannot stand on my hands and pretend everything is "rosey" when I see mistakes being made. Not addressing the QB and LT issues year after year is and was a mistake! Yet. fans make the statement we will see what we have and address it next year? I don't understand that mindset or philosophy. We all know what we have at QB and LT don't we? It is sub par to be polite. Gailey and Nix should know what we have too? Are we/they stuck in thinking they can be the "man" to turn things around? I highly doubt that... The wait til next year attitude sickens me... Sorry to be so negative it is just that when I read this my blood started boiling and to top it off someone replies I agree with you 100% Maybe, I am missing something....

I agree with your assessment. I guess we may have to take a few step backwards to go forward many steps. Time will tell if we keep backtracking with little forward progress.
-
Keep on believing and one year your gonna be right.

Question is did you watch the film and break it down from an unbiased viewpoint? Hard to be unbiased when he is on our team and we want him to be successful. I hope he was the "steal of the draft." Thanks for the info.

What about Jason Campbell last year against the Saints. What about JAMARCUS RUSSEL last year against Philly throwing for 225 yards. What about Josh Freeman last year against Carolina and N.O.. What about Brady Quinn last year against San Diego and Detriot. See my point?
