Lack of OT's May Kill BILLS Again!
mpl6876 replied to bills in va's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I was wondering if you are supporting the front office (past and present) decisions "not to adequately" addressing the offensive tackle positions? Are you happy with our current offensive line? Do you think they will develop into a cohesive unit and be solid and productive? I don't know what your answers will be. As for me, I cannot support the front office decisions on not addressing the tackle positions. They have had numerous opportunities to address the situation. By all reasonable accounts Green in not the answer at RT, Hartgardner is average at best, Meridith/Bell are projects as best and will likely never amount to a solid NFL LT. Wood and Levtrie look promising and I give Dick Juaron some credit for those picks. Yes, the dick Juaron everyone likes to "hammer." Instead we are left with a "scat back" who by the front office words was the "BPA" so they had to take him? You can try to defend the offensive line all you want...the bottom line is IMO, this unit is very weak at best adequate and we will never be a contender until we can solve this problem. Getting Green and drafting Wang didn't do anything to help this porous unit. Another year of wait and see.....You don't know how bad that pains me... -
Lack of OT's May Kill BILLS Again!

Rabbit, Well said and well stated. I have been pretty much echoing that theme for quite awhile. I usually get responses like: Who would you have drafted? We can't fill all our needs in one draft? I have responded to those answers. I am not well liked here so my words don't have as much impact. I am partly to blame for that. Nevertheless, it is refreshing to see that everyone isn't buying into this new regime. It's good to see some honest constructive criticism on the board. -

Thurm as you know I enjoy and respect your knowledge. I have noticed a pattern between you and Doc. He seems to always challenge almost everything you say. He seems to have to "1 up" you? Case in point the Incognito post. Nevertheless, I do enjoy you "outwitting" him on almost all accounts. No comment needed. Just a pat on your back for doing it with such conviction and professionalism. -

Thanks for the info as I am an out of town. If you could I would appreciate anymore of your viewpoints in the future. You sounded very genuine. -
In Case you were wondering why we drafted Spiller 9th
mpl6876 replied to Skoobydum's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
IMO, most picks drafted at the number 9 position overall in the draft are expected to produce right away. (especially running backs) Spiller is no exception. In four years? Who knows what's going to happen in 4 years. I am trying to concentrate on this year and reevaluate the team after the season is over. Maybe your able to think ahead that far? -
Chris Brown's day 1 practice notes

Thanks for the info. I enjoyed reading it. I just have one question and its not directed towards you. It seems like so many people here are bashing the media. Another thread created today about blocking out the media. All kinds of threads "bad mouthing" other media outlets like ESPN, NFL Network, Sal M, Larry Felser, Pro footbal weekly, etc..Why should we even take into account what Chris B is saying.....He is with the media....How fair are his assessments? Does he see what we see? Is he biased? IMO, I believe we believe what we want to hear. -
I would bet the farm (if I had one) that they will be better than 6-10.
-
I do believe the Pats are slipping back to the pack. Their defense has some issues as exploited by last years playoff game. God, did I love it! One could easily argue that the Jets have surpassed them. However, lets not fool ourselves and think we are going to beat them this season. IMO, at best a 1-1 split but more likely they will sweep us. They still have Brady, Moss, and a good O line. That should be enough to beat us.

Chan Has Players Obstruct View of Plays

I don't claim to be the smartest guy or the most knowledgeable Bills fan here. I know all of you can agree on that. I didn't even know what a troll was. I had to ask a friend and look it up. You guys can call me that if you like. It doesn't offend me but it is furthest from the truth. I AM A DIE HARD BILLS FAN WHO ISN'T AFRAID TO CRITICIZE THE FRONT OFFICE. I may not be always right or speak for the majority. Sometimes, I put my foot in my mouth and shortly thereafter I come to my senses. (you guys help along that process) I am passionate and I believe in what I am saying. I say these things will no malice or ill content. In fact, I have been deflecting negativity for quite awhile now. Like it or not, I will in a civil manner continue to voice my opinions and remain civil. Thanks for listening. -
Me too. Good post.

Well, thanks for paying attention to detail. -
That's where you and I differ. For me it's all about winning. I could care less if we play tough football and lose. You get respect by winning.

If I recall correctly your last post to me was rude and uncalled for. Yet, I was very civil with you. -

I am trying to change and I think I have done a pretty good job of it. I take back the last post. I am going to delete it. I am afraid the damage may already be done. But, at least I admit it was over the top. Sometimes I let my frustrations get the best of me. -
Bill, it isn't a stupid statement. It is a proven fact that "roids" can make you bigger, stronger, faster, improve injuries faster, etc....Thus, making you a better player. Why do think it is a banned substance?

I have no problem with any of you disagreeing with my statements so long as we keep it civil. -

At this point, I don't see much in "heading in the right direction." I could honestly say that if we addressed our QB situation, Offensive Line situatuion, wide receiver position, defensive pass rush, stopping the run, and having experienced proven coordinators on both sides of the ball. Not all of this is possible in one year. However, the regime IMO could have done a lot better in addressing many of these issues. Right now all I see is let's and see. Let's see how our QB does? Let's see how our OL does? Let's see how our young receivers do? Lets see how Maybin does in rushing the QB?, let's see how Troup stuffs the run? Let's see how great Gailey going to do with our offense. I could go on and on. A frustrated fan who isn't afraid to say so. -

I will be positive when I see a legitimate reason to be positive. I cannot be positive with our current QB,OL, WR, Lack of pass rush, defensive front who can't stop the run, and two coordinators that I am not impressed with. I never did get the argument that if someone says something negative then he is not a fan? Reminds me of the Bush tactics. When someone questioned him he attacked them by saying they were patriotic. Both tactics are flawed and incorrect. -

You may not agree with it but it isn't moronic. -
Tebow 5 years / $33 M - $8.7 M guaranteed
mpl6876 replied to Skoobydum's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I am so glad that the Bills didn't draft Tebow. All indications are they wanted him badly and were beaten to the punch. Of course no one in the FO is going to admit this. I for one believe they were going to trade up and get him based on everything I read and heard. I believe Gailey thought he could make this kid into a winner. Now we will see what Josh Mcdaniels can do...... -

Baby Joe, I can see you didn't like what I wrote and I am fine with that. I respect others opinions here and will not try to shove my viewpoints down other people's throats. I still stand by my original post. Most fans do not attend the practices and wait for media updates. Thus, if the media's coverage is limited the media coverage is limited to the fans too. As a result, lack of information. the real question is how reliable is the media? -
It is a legitimate question that I have been asked several times. It is really impossible for any of us to answer this becuase it is after the fact and none of us were in the draft room. I would have preferred to trade the pick. However, we don't know if that was possible. My inclination thinks the Bills had no intention of doing this. This was indicated by how they "ran" to the podium and picked Spiller. They didn't even want to listen to any trade offers. They had 10 minuted to see...I really think that was a mistake. Some will say with validity "why wait if that's your guy." Also, some will question LT Davis' work ethic. However, he was picked by Mike Singletary and the 49ers at 11. He wasn't and isn't afraid to get in his players asses and motivate them. I suppose Chan/Nix think otherwise? I would have been happy with Davis at 9 and Clausen at 41. Or trade down and get Brian Bulaga or Dan Williams. Then with the pick they received they could have selected a LT like Saffold or Charles Brown. Maybe it could have looked like this # 22 Bulaga/Dan Williams, #35/36/37 (via trade down) Saffold or Brown # 41 pick Clausen. (4th round could have picked Cam Thomas) I would have been jumping for joy. Instead # 9 Spiller and #41 Troup . Its all hindsight.

The O line needs more than knee braces. I suggest some steroids instead.

If you read my post you would realize that I never mentioned picking up Adams.
