Whaley + Wannstedt = Better Defense
DreReed83 replied to symbiant's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
interesting -
He does have an arm. If he didn't how'd he be throwing the ball? If you're referring to his arm strength, he has enough. If that's all you judge a QB on, then we should pick up Jamarcus Russell and trade for Kyle Boller. They both have "arms." Kinda contradicting your first sentence. What a lamer

Could a Lockout be Good for Us Fans??
DreReed83 replied to BuffaloATL's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yea i'll have to disagree with you. -
About 3 rounds too early. Someone dumb will reach for him because of his "athletic abilities." Kinda like when the Dolphins reached for Pat White. Also, only 1 defensive player?
-
why not?
-
I will be cheering for the Pack but think the Steelers will win. A more dominant running game, with an experienced head coach and team.
-
Why does everyone who watches that show believe that those people are actually FROM NJ?
-
x2 Anything before a 4th round would be a reach IMO. Wouldn't mind him as a Brad Smith type player for us in the 6th round or later but outside of that, no thanks.

How's Spiller workin out for us?
-
Not many people know about Gabbert cuz he came out of nowhere. I'm still not all that sold on him. Wasn't sold on Ponder either until i saw him play and i was more than impressed. I still like Stanzi and Ponder in the 2nd or 3rd round.

Grooming Linebackers the Steeler Way
DreReed83 replied to Bilgewater's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No egoes? There are egos on that team, but nobodies gonna come out and whine when you're winning games and making it to the playoffs almost every year. Joey Porter didnt have an ego? James Harrison doesnt have an ego? Roethlisberger? I met Santonio Holmes and his ego was off the chart. Every NFL team has egoes but you just dont see it when you're winning games. -
Yea i saw about 5 seconds of it and turned it off. Pretty lame

The NFL’s 10 Best Cheerleading Squads
DreReed83 replied to Just Jack's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Iggles cheerleaders are amazing. -
No I get it. It's just a dumb idea. How the hell is that fair? A home team gets the championship game? It only works in baseball, basketball and hockey because it's a series of games. Give me a break

I think the Steelers defense had more to do with them getting to that point. Steelers are doing just fine without Holmes this year.

WTF are you talking about?

Football is a cold weather game. People need to get over it. NJTransit trains and buses can take you from Newark Airport to the Meadowlands directly. The ONLY concern I have with the SB being there is their shtty road system through the parking lots. And since it flows right into rte 3, and heavy traffic, getting in and out is a NIGHTMARE. Fans show up to Green Bay, Buffalo, New England games in snow. So, we won't get to see N'Sync perform a halftime show. ooooh what a loss.

Newton won the championship by himself? I'm impressed. AND the JUCO championship singlehandedly? Holy crp dude. I'm impressed. Took on a whole defense on his own? 1 against 11? What does that mean? NOTHING. Look at the past QB's that played for national championships. And look what they've done. Tim Tebow? John Wilson Parker? Matt Leinart? Vince Young? Matt Flynn? Jamarcus Russell? Craig Krenzel? Ken Dorsey? Jason White? Chris Weinke? Pretty impressive list of QBs there my friend. BTW. Quick question: How many national championships has Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Philip Rivers, Matt Schaub, Ben Roethlisberger, Aaron Rodgers won in their college careers...COMBINED? So don't bring up meaningless facts as an argument.

No I understand YOUR point which clearly makes no sense but you clearly don't understand mine. If a QB is more NFL ready right out of college, how would he have less long term potential? If a college QB is more NFL ready, that means he has a higher upside than someone who isn't. Just because they are NFL ready doesn't mean they've peaked as in improving as a QB. So you're not making any sense. A QB who is described as "NFL ready" just means he's capable of making the transition to the NFL level easier than someone who's not. Pretty self explanatory if you ask me. So you'd take the athletic QB who can throw the ball 80 yds down the field over someone with a decent arm, can read defenses and has a high football IQ? Nice to meet you Mr. Al Davis.

Theres a difference between taking 5 minutes to look for something over the internet and claiming to video tape multiple games and watch it 4-5 times. No kidding? Obviously you missed the whole point of that post. Obviously theres a HUGE learning curve, but there are QB's more NFL ready than others. Some will adapt well and others won't. Not all development takes the same amount of time. Out of these guys, I see Newton and Kaepernick as the least NFL ready. I've been advocating for a young future QB for awhile now. I don't think Fitz is a long term either so I'm not going to argue bringing a young QB. Give me Gabbert, Ponder, Stanzi in the later rounds. As long as we don't reach for someone like Newton I'll be thrilled.

1) I disagree with you and Mad Dog69 and agree with ajzepp. 2) Get a life dude. You're not a pro scout. 3) You obviously don't know what you're watching. He has happy feet. First read, balls out. If not he runs. He scrambles around looking to run and not to throw. If he does throw, he just chucks it downfield. Those kinda QB's are the kind of QB's that won't cut it in the NFL. When did Vick start getting better? When he stopped runnig around like an idiot and start making throws. Decision making: Newton rarely put his receivers in bad position and didn't throw the ball a lot into double coverage. He just needs to get faster making decisions in the passing game. Comes out of Gus Malzahn's spread option where he doesn't have to make multiple reads. Doesn't anticipate a receiver's route that well. Field vision: Here is where Newton is going to need the work. A lot of Auburn's passes came on receivers running double moves and deep crosses. They're routes where receivers get themselves open and don't necessarily have to rely on the quarterback fitting the ball into a tight window. In addition, a lot of Newton's passes come on the first read. When it's not there, the offense called for him to pull the ball and run. Since teams stacked the box to defend Auburn against the run, Newton didn't see a lot of complex coverages. He did early against Oregon in the BCS National Championship game and got into trouble. He'll have to spend a lot of time in the film room to learn how to pass against defenses with good secondary play and an array of coverages. I suggest you go back your mother's basement and watch those films another 20 times.

That's exactly what I saw. Thanks for bringing that up. He's not going to be able to run around like that at the next level. I hate to tell you. End of discussion.
