Carucci: Bills GM Nix likes Cam Newton "a great deal"
DreReed83 replied to Marshmallow's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
His performance in college doesn't mean jacksht so stop bringin up his college numbers. If you're going by college numbers then Ryan Leaf and his 3968 yds, 34 TDs and 11 INT with a 158.7 rating would've translated to the NFL well. College numbers and awards don't mean sht. -
Jack Locker can't hit the broadside of a barn

Good post. These are the kinda posts that people post when they have nothing better to say and don't know what they're talking about. So does Jamarcus Russell and Kyle Boller... <edited for content> -
Carucci: Bills GM Nix likes Cam Newton "a great deal"
DreReed83 replied to Marshmallow's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Which is why I'd take a shot at someone like Jake Locker in the 2nd round. He has all the tools that Cam has. Except he already has 2 years of running a pro style offense, so he's already a step or 2 ahead of Cam. His transition will be a lot smoother even though both have a lot of work to do. I truly think Locker's problems come from him playing 2 sports at the college level but once he focuses on only 1 sport, he'll be fine. Anyways, I think we should go defense now but if we were to take a QB at 3, I hope it's Gabbert and not Newton. -

Jake Locker's problem with throwing the ball is easy to fix so I wouldn't really look too much into his accuracy problems. He's a project, but his problems CAN be fixed. If you see him throw the ball in games, his footwork is sloppy and his baseball mechanics get intertwined with his football mechanics. Hence sloppy mechanics. If he can stop playing baseball and continue to work on only football mechanics, I think it will cure his accuracy dilemma. -

No he didnt. If you watched any of his games (which you obviously didn't), he either looks at his first/second option and runs, while never looking downfield to throw. It's pathetic. This dude has ONE year of experience against real competition. I'm not even going to bother looking at his JUCO stats/numbers because it's JUCO. Doesn't even count. One year of experience in an offensive system taht doesn't require you to read a defense? -

Ive been saying this since he's been in college -
I'll take Locker, Ponder, or Stanzi in the later rounds. Anything but Newton or Kaepernick.

Theres no WAY anyone can change their mind in favor of Newton after watching game film, because he doesn't show anything. He doesn't have the mentality to play this position at the next level. He clearly doesnt know how to read defenses and he clearly looks to run before he throws when things start breaking down. You guys can drool over his arm strength all you want, but he doesnt know how to play QB at the NFL level. Only time will tell but WHEN he fails, I'm gonna come back and basically laugh at all the jokers that liked this guy.

Just as impressed with this as I was watching Newton play this year. Which isn't really saying much

If you believe anything that's said before the NFL draft, then consider yourself. Well. Retarded. Coaches aren't going to flat out come out and say who they're enamored with or will draft prior to the draft beginning. -
No Matter Who You Want At #3

Trade down, Bowers, Green, Fairley, Dareus. Give me one of these and i'll be fine. -
If the Bills were to leave Buffalo and I was forced to cheer for another team, it would probably be the Packers. Top notch organization and fan base.

Current mocks...Pete Prisco & Chad Reuter say Gabbert
DreReed83 replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
How so? Because Missouri ran a lot of spread formations like we do? Or is it because 6'5" 230 isn't big enough? Or is it just because you don't know jack sht about him? Which is it? I'm not saying he IS the answer, but I wouldn't say he's the worst fit either. -
Who runs a pro style offense? Lets see: Stanford, Notre Dame ran one when Clausen was there. Florida will run a pro style offense (watch out for BOTH John Brantley and freshman Jeff Driskel in Weis's offense !!). Washington University ran one with Jake Locker. USC used to run one when Sarkisian was there. Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, Iowa, Wisconsin, Boston College, Rutgers, Arkansas, and I would say that Penn State and Pitt run a lot of pro style formations and plays. I can keep on going.

What'd you expect from this drill? It shows NOTHING. This is exactly what Mayocks talking about. You can watch this sht all u want. That UConn backup QB threw a great ball. So what? Who gives a hoot. Mayock only cares about game films. That shows EVERYTHING, so why waste your time on this GARBAGE? We all know he can stand around in a tshirt and shorts and throw the ball to moving targets. Who can't?

Can't stand these immature rants. Can't we all just get along?

As long as it's not a gimmick QB like Kaepernick or Newton I'll be happy. I'll be happy with Gabbert, or Locker in the later rounds, or Stanzi, or Ponder. Just no gimmick QB's -
Mayocks been doing this for way longer than Dilfer and has better insight than he does. Like I said, i respect Mayock's opinions more than any other analyst out there, because he just knows more. Better than Dilfer, better than McShay and way better than Kiper. Dilfer's been doing this for about 2 and a half years. Dilfer can watch all those videos he wants of him, but Mayock watches what REALLY matters and thats game film. Like Mayock says. He was in a controlled environment without a defense and he knew where all the WRs were gonna be. His mechanics and arm strength is not the problem. Never was. It's his football IQ and his ability to read a defense. This is what concerns Mayock and he's right. You can praise Dilfer all u want but he doesn't even compare to Mayock.
-
Must be nice, throwing the ball to people without having to deal with a defense.

Better than u

I support Mayock because he watches more clips on players than anyone in this room. Therefore he knows more than me and you. Therefore I support his position on anybody. No need to elaborate what he said. I have ears.

When was the last time a spread option QB became successful at the pro level?
